  1. We know that there are diminishing returns but I don't think we can use the numbers that th WoB give. If the loss of 5 whole minutes from one doubling was accurate then the inefficiency would be so great that some of the larger feats we've seen with Feruchemy would be practically impossible. I'm pretty sure those numbers were only given as an example so that people could understand the diminishing returns. Additionally, the Bands are only a little larger than the palm of the hand and are made of multiple metalminds, each of those metalminds held more Investiture than any other metalmind we are knowledgeable about.
  2. So there is one issue with that WoB about storing A-Pewter, it's potentially contradicted by the books. In TFE Rashek is described by Vin as surprisingly muscular and that he 'deflates' just like Sazed did when Sazed stopped tapping Pewter after she Pushes Rashek's Metalminds away. This can be reconciled though, when burning Pewter, a Compounder could still be storing muscle mass but because burning Pewter makes every gram of muscle stronger then it would lead to needing to tap less muscle mass to have an equivalent amount of strength
  3. If it was just the red coloration I probably wouldn't have the issues with it I do, it's that it also acts like Atium in Hemalurgy
  4. I'm generally someone who doesn't think Radiants are the unstoppable combat machines that others on the forum think they are, but I don't really see how any Twinborn combo can win in a straight fight. The only maybe way I can think of is for a Steel Compounder to zip up, steal all of the Radiant's spheres, do a ton of damage to the Radiant that hopefully they don't have a enough Stormlight to heal it all and run and hide the spheres before stopping tapping speed. And all that is only if the Radiant hasn't already summoned their Plate
  5. And your basis for this is? If this was the case, every use of Hemalurgy would be doing this, especially if Allomancy is taken
  6. I wasn't talking about the metal, but the color that was most prevalent in the spectrograph which WAS red.
  7. To be fair, she can't use Plate or Blade in the Cognitive so she's far more vulnerable to enemy Fused there than she is in the Physical Realm. I agree that much of the tension in the story was lost in Rythm of War. As I've said before, Fused became a joke in my opinion, they aren't even masters of their Surges, they are masters of a single application of their Surges. Brandon should not have given Dalinar the ability to open Perpendicularities whenever he wanted as that makes any battle he's at one that the Radiants have no right to lose. Heralds being absolute combat masters would make sense IF the Fused which have lived as long were also shown to be nightmares to fight but they aren't. The simple matter of the situation is he has made Radiants so strong in comparison to their enemies that the things he had in the story to limit them (spren not trusting humans, no training, etc) make the backstory make no sense when previous generations of Radiants has ample spren to form Bonds with, good training, and a Shard to talk with. The Radiants of previous Desolations should have steamrolled Odium's forces
  8. My biggest issues with Trellium being Bavadinium is the red spectra after years of being told red is the color of corrupted Investiture, and that it is just as good if not better in Hemalurgy as Atium
  9. There is almost no way he would have been able to Compound enough health to survive an explosion on that scale in the little bit of time he had before the ship reached Elendel
  10. It really depends on how much health/second a Compounder gets. What would help more is to ask Brandon is how much of a trait is gained while burning a Metalmind if it isn't being stored, that would give us our baseline.
  11. It's not the metal itself that determines burning speed, but what the Investiture is doing. It seems A-Gold is very Investiture intensive which causes it to burn so fast. Considering health is just one of the benefits A-Pewter gives, it would likely burn a great deal slower than Pewter. The strength of the Allomancer probably goes more into how much of the trait is gained from burning the metal than the amount of the trait that is put into the metal.
  12. The sensitivity of Inquisitor sight is great enough that they can see the trace iron in a person's blood even though lines to metal are normally not visible to Allomancers. Brandon has also said that some metalloids can be Pushed/Pulled, if this includes Silicon then that would vastly open up what would be visible as Silicon is very very abundant. What Wax saw with the Bands though, that was on a whole different level as he was seeing the very Axi themselves and their relationship with Investiture. At those levels I'd assume you would have complete awareness of what is happening around you with aluminum and highly Invested items the only things that look opaque.
  13. Maybe not wholesale slaughters, but it's still a worldwide war going on. RoW has many refugee families from Herdaz implying that there are decently high civilian casualties and then the soldier casualties that medieval warfare that Roshar uses often ends with. As it's been only a year of fighting, it won't be too devastating but I'm sure that by the time of SL6 they will still be feeling it to some extent
  14. I expect by Era 3, Scadrial will have or at least be in the process of developing a mechanical way to strip Identity. They have not one but two magic systems that allow for it
  15. I agree, geography is always going to be relevant to war. Even with our modern day technology it still can make or break a war. The only Invested forces that won't be concerned about geography are the ones that fly.
  16. The thing with compounding is that, going further on Frustration says, you just need to fill a small amount to get a lot. There are a few important details, metals burn at a speed relative to how much it is doing. The reason Pewter burns so fast for example, is that it is doing so much. It makes you stronger, faster, tougher, heal faster, etc. 5 small beads could be flaired for an hour or so according to Vin and that's flairing so burning would last even longer. So if you instead put Strength into it and burned it, it would likely burn even longer than that as it's only one vector that A-Pewter gives. Why is this important? Because a minute or two is all the time you should need to fill those beads with Strength to Compound. Because Compounding simply is funneling the Investiture that a Compounder pulling from the SR and shaping it by the stored Investiture in the Metalmind, it just needs enough Investiture to recognize it as the stored trait rather than the metal itself. Back to our Pewter example, let's say you have a small bead of metal that you stored a minute's worth of strength in. You can Compound said bead for an hour. By the end of that hour, you have 60 times the amount of Strength you had stored originally. Now let's say you stored each of those 60 minutes in a bead where each bead has one minute's worth. Spend 10 hours a day burning and storing those stores and in 6 days you now 60 hours worth of Strength. All while only having to weaken yourself for one single minute. And as we have seen from Sazed, Wax, and Wayne, it doesn't really take much attention to store a trait.
  17. WoR Chapter 5 WoR Chapter 9 WoR Chapter 32 WoR Chapter 46 These among many others demonstrate that she is turning into a ribbon, not because of any after effect of light from her movement. And Kaladin has never had any trouble following her movements. Many descriptions sound as if she moves at the speed of the wind though that I can't for sure confirm but the fastest she has moved in the books is slightly faster than Kaladin lashing himself.
  18. While possibly true, it almost certainly would have needed a Bondsmith as a very crucial element
  19. Inverting it is too much, but self defeating? That's entirely possible. Exhibit A. Preservation, or at least the (mostly dead) Preservation that we see in Secret History. Fuzz couldn't bring himself to harm Elend even if the end result was going to be Ruin. Had Kelsier's ploy worked, Vin would have healed Elend, so he would have been Preserved and the cage would have been Preserved. Whereas Ruin had no problem going against his Intent in the short term as long as the long term lead to Ruin.
  20. While I think people overestimate Bondsmiths, they seem to at least be able to add someone to the Oathpact to gain Herald like resurection
  21. This right here, people underestimate how much culture and learned behavior influence what society does. America for example still almost 200 years later for example has many many cultural aspects that were cultivated during the age of manifest destiny. Between the harsh treatment TFE would give to people who would be progressive, and the scarceness now being replaced with abundance, I can very much see a cultural shift of those living in the Basin towards contentment
  22. Zinc or Copper are the two most likely.
  23. She takes the form of ribbons of light. Ribbons of light that are at very much still noticeable speeds
  24. Considering that no spren in the PR has moved with anything resembling such speed, it's unlikely. Maybe a lightspren or something similar could but its unlikely others could. As far as being summoned as Blades go. That's always seemed more like a SR transition through the Connection to their wielder.
