Star Wars Ep 9 The Rise of Skywalker
Invocation replied to Briar King's topic in Entertainment Discussion
Not even one of the Timothy Zahn books? They're pretty good. -
In happiness, no. Murder the guy? Also no. There are steps between that! I'd cause a bit of a ruckus, which the Alethi would eat up, given how little some of the other highprinces care for him or for being ruled by a king at all, instead of a being a generally selfish person that continues the cycle that got him in that situation in the first place.

Pretty much anything Earth has, Scadrial has, so yes!

Oh, she totally would. If only Selish magic wasn't the absolute worst to try to hack your way into possessing.

I'd say that last one is the best, considering I just ate like 40 of them.- 21 replies

Moash did everything wrong. He is a petty, cowardly man that doesn't know how to let go of a grudge and defaults to his own choices being someone else's fault like he has no autonomy of action or thought. He willfully disregarded the fact that people can change and decided that he should be allowed to murder the king to satisfy his own grudge. That way of thinking would be just fine if the incident was more recent or he was able to accept that things have changed or he was willing to give up the assassination portion and just quietly hate Elhokar while still performing his duty, but he instead chose to betray Kaladin and all of Bridge Four for a years-old grudge against a man that wasn't even the primary offender (really, he should have been trying to kill Roshone, if anyone), then betray the humans of Roshar by siding with forces attempting to destroy them as a way to offset some of the guilt he feels for his choices. I have no pity in my heart for this pathetic excuse for a man, disagree his choices, and think he needs to grow up. Any person with sense would have reacted differently.

How does nicrosil store different types of investiture?
Invocation replied to WhiteEmporer's question in Cosmere Q&A
I bet it has something to do with Connection and Intent, honestly. You store the Investiture you have a Connection to and that you're wanting to store so it would take a Nicrosil Ferring who also had another set of Investiture to store other forms, I think. That, or it gets converted to raw Investiture and it comes out as the Investiture you need. I guess we'll find out eventually. -

That's a pretty solid line-up to read. There's no major spoilers in Mistborn, but there are a few mysteries you'll enjoy. More nuggets are always fun!- 21 replies

I don't think I've ever seen an actual estimate for it. Not like I'm concerned with the upkeep or sustainability of a fake currency.

Don't read Arcanum Unbounded until you've read everything else! It's full of spoilers and things you'll need to know, but you won't need to know them until after you have context within the full books. Mine is Truthwatchers. Mistborn is nice and long, not as long as Stormlight, but the first book is 600 something pages.- 21 replies

The Stormlight Archives Addicts

Before you reread, at least check out Warbreaker. It's currently standalone, and while it may have a sequel eventually, it's still a complete story, and there's some...interesting things you'll note. Mistborn would also be good to check out, since it's just a really good series. Elantris is fun and is (sort of) a standalone. The graphic novels of White Sand aren't finished yet (pretty sure we're still waiting on Volume 3). What's your favorite Radiant Order?- 21 replies

I'll take six boxes. To go, not to eat all at once, of course.

Some of it has to do with the conflict with Odium, yes, but part of it is so that they can grow. Spren are static beings without a bond, and not all of them like being static beings. Some want to grow. Some want to experience things. A risk to their cognitive functions, yes, but a good potential tradeoff.

An idea regarding Adonalsium and the Vessels
Invocation replied to Toaster Retribution's topic in Cosmere Discussion
That's working under the assumption Adonalsium had the Intents of all the Shards in the first place. It's possible that Big A didn't, but we don't know either way. -
Fair. We don't really know what Plate is actually formed out of yet.

Then you'd need to know how to attract one of the giant Oathgate spren, which is...unclear.

I...kind of agree with Ark here. Intentional or not, humans as a species are violent creatures. Evil? Not necessarily, but not at all peaceful, either, and most of the definition of "evil" within the world of Skyward and Defending Elysium is violence and potential for violence, something that resides in 99.99% humans. There's a reason a major concern is meeting another species that acts like we do if/when we get into space.
-
I'd still qualify it as an illusion. After all, Radiant is a false persona, and I'm not entirely convinced the Plate in this scenario is real, though I do believe she had made it at least that far as a child before the reneged on her Oaths.

What's YOUR Talent?
Invocation replied to Silus - Shard of Flame's topic in Alcatraz Versus the Evil Librarians
Maybe a...sock exchange? -
This thread will be of some use to you. Also, why am I seeing the Beaver thread again in the first place?

I'm not arguing that it's not a liability. That's 90% of my argument. It has its ups and down, no clearcut "This is the boon" or "This is the curse." There are situations where it would be useful, and there are situations that it would not be useful. As to food being scattered around battlefields, that's...iffy. Takes a lot to feed an army, and even when they have Soulcasters, people are still going to have some emergency food as a reserve for when there's a lack of Stormlight or they've got an unexpected boost in soldier population. Thaylen City, for example, had a soldier supply depot with food in it right near the walls, which is a very smart move, and I'd be honestly surprised if no other group on Roshar did that as well. Lift has some particular advantages being able to get to these caches as well, potentially helping the case. Or she could just have a backpack of food.
