Long Game 84: A Sel United
Devotary of Spontaneity replied to Ashbringer's topic in Sanderson Elimination
My game has had this mechanic since 2018 and I signed up to run it long before Ash decided to run this game instead of his Honorblade game, so I accept no responsibility.- 769 replies

Since you are next in line, you can send your rules to the committee + mods if you're prepared to run them. -
Quick Fix 59: Bachelor--Roshar edition!
Devotary of Spontaneity replied to Lotus's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Another game where catching an elim C1 didn't help find the others with the help of anonymous voting, even if it ended up close from good late-game play from the elims and village. I hadn't died early in a game for a long time, so I was due to be killed in this one even though I don't think I would have gotten around to suspecting Kas and Orlok anytime soon. I managed to fulfill prior obligations to have four RP characters and keep them up as a villager without having to draw it out the whole week, so I can go back to doing whatever I feel like doing in future games. I think people will be more suspicious of you and more likely to vote for you in future games. Is that helpful at all? -
I would not be active enough to play, so I will decline.

I don't know how useful it will be to exe Thaid if that doesn't change your suspicions either way. I can wait a cycle on Ash to see how the votes land. -

So I'm not sure an Archer exe would have resolved Striker's views on Ash. That does make me feel better about Ash since it was before Striker was in serious trouble. Where would you go after Thaid depending on how he flipped? -

That reads list was D2, page 15. Gorilla was the most suspected of his teammates. Village: Chartreuse Penguin, Salmon Meerkat, Mild Village: Amber Vulture, Charcoal Hyena, Onyx Flamingo, Scarlet Octopous, Null: Coral Swan (almost to mild village, however), Fuschia Ostrich, Melon Dingo, Mint Heron, Oxblood Beagle, Plum Rhinoceros, Sapphire Elephant, Sunburst Toucan, Mild Elim: Amethyst Scorpion, Azure Mouse, Emerald Falcon, Ivory Dragonfly, Quartz Zebra, Turquoise Gorilla, Violet Axolotl Elim: Saffron Iguana This game we have Striker putting Thaid as neutral wanting to hear more and Ash as mostly good but confused why he's defending Archer and wanting to kill Archer first. That suggests v!Archer to me with a higher possibility of e!Ash since flipping Archer village would 'resolve' Striker's suspicions of e/e Archer-Ash while making it harder for Striker to vote v!Ash if Archer flipped village. I was going to put RP in here but I still haven't finished C1 stuff much less started on C2 prompts, so I'll just put in a vote for Ashbringer here and do cycle 2 and 3 prompts if I live until next cycle. -

Hmmm a noted difference but okay. I'll take a look at other things. It was Archer vs. Striker for most of the cycle, with Archer looking like he had a real chance of dying, and yet JNV is the only vote on Archer. Unless Archer is also evil, he would be a convenient place for the elims to put a vote to protect Striker. The fact that only one vote ended up there suggests that the elims saw Striker was doomed and gave up, in which case I would guess they scattered their votes, or Archer is evil and the elims had a different target in mind. I think the fact that Striker knew he would die makes it difficult to guess where the elims ended up, especially if there were only two elims other than Striker. An elim hastily switching late might be more careful about choosing a target they'd mentioned suspicion of to avoid questions next cycle. You and Matrim were the other players to vote Striker in red. I don't think it was clear Striker was dying until you and Matrim reaffirmed your intentions to vote for him at the earliest. This would have worked better if there were nights, but here's 'Night 1' (part 1). Anyone who wants to be part of Mehdan's group for day 2 can let me know. -

Only Bort and Matrim that I can see. Bort mentioned not liking Striker's posts 12 hours ago and must have voted well in advance. Mat voted for Striker ~16.5 hours before rollover and got killed. Illwei didn't think Striker's post was villagery asof ~14.5 hours before rollover but didn't have a clear indication of voting for Striker. @Ashbringer this is fair, since Kas is doing pretty much the same thing. I was looking at you for this since I remember Kas not wanting returning players to die in recent games but didn't remember if you'd done the same. I don't think you did in MR 56 or LG 83 at least. -

Stricker seemed too free to assign village reads to people with little evidence and multiple times asked if his logic was sound, which indicated that he cared more about whether people accepted his reasoning than whether his reasoning was at all accurate. I looked back at his recent games and found that he used the exact same phrasing of 'Does that make sense' in AG 8 as Pearl Chameleon when he was evil, which wasn't super conclusive since he was anonymous in that game, but I thought was worth a vote C1 since he didn't do that as a neutral in QF 58 or a villager claiming neutral in MR 56. I voted in PM four minutes after my vote in thread, so 9:12 PST, after deciding I wasn't going to go through Ash's previous games at the time. -

I do feel like Striker cares more about how his opinions come across than about being accurate. Way too much of this does come from Striker using pretty much the same phrasing of 'Does that make sense' in this game and as e!Pearl Chameleon in AG8. He also arbitrarily sorted players into tiers early on in that game, which isn't quite the same as what he did this game but still too close. It might not have been a great idea to look into this this way since Striker's recent games have been evil in an AN + evil in the BT, neutral in QF 58 and fake neutral in MR 56, all of which obscure tone in a way that can't be present in this game. I'm also not sure about Ash. Declaring that he's a villager multiple times strikes me as off, and publicly asking the elims not to kill Aman is reading as coming from someone who can make sure Aman doesn't get killed. Although if Ash is evil I don't think Archer would be after coming up with similar plans, Ash missing an important part of Archer's post, and Ash insisting that he and Archer's alignments were tied. -

Devotary of Spontaneity replied to Lotus's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Voting in a wider pool (voting 2-3 people in thread) would allow for more pressure on the elims, but also makes it easy for the elims to put teammates in their pool and then vote for someone else. It's unlikely the elims will ever need to lie if voting for any of their candidates counts as honesty. I don't know how important that will be. I would expect voting to gauge a reaction will be less effective in this game since any vote is even less meaningful than a non-final vote in a regular game. Bandwagoning/trains will be less likely to form from votes that may not be real. How would you tell which votes were likely elim the following day? Multiple people happening to vote on the same person from their suspect pool could be elim coordination or random chance. It would take a while to figure out the difference. I did not do a lot of work. I opened QF 52 and looked at the first page. I noted that some of Archer's views were the same and some were different. Writing the RP took maybe 60 times longer. -

He was a villager. Some of the sentiments are the same but in that game he did support using colored votes. I didn't pay enough attention to know how whether that happened but clearly whatever the village was doing in that game didn't work. -

I said I was going to have four characters in my next game as a player so here we are. Starting with two characters for now and the other two will show up later. I spent way too much time on them (and still didn't get them right) and not enough reading QF 52 which had this setup and a flawless elim victory. @Archer how has playing that game changed your opinion since last time when you said in that game's first post that the elims benefit more than the village from having their PM vote not match their public vote? -

Mid-Range Game 56: Day of Reckoning
Devotary of Spontaneity replied to |TJ|'s topic in Sanderson Elimination
Thank you to @|TJ| and @Elandera for running the game! I don't think it was good for me to know who all the elims were since that made it too easy to make them lose. My conversion allowed me to hold TUA hostage since he dies immediately after I do, which then makes STINK's survival very suspicious, while the reveal that I know all the elims would make Stick look bad. With the village I got far enough by exploiting the desire to let neutrals win that they eventually couldn't afford the time to kill me and also wanted my help, which I could do with being able to kill the elims at any time. while the village wincon gave no hint that they needed to kill me. Since I might have sabotaged blackout neutrals for a while, I think it should be possible to figure out whether there are hostile(game-ending) neutrals present.- 1557 replies
