GM Signups & Discussion Thread
Devotary of Spontaneity replied to Elbereth's topic in Sanderson Elimination
It is not taking the place of the QF. The break tank is short enough that it'll be done by the time a QF can get through the committee and finish signups. -
Synopsis: Long before the Recreance, the Cryptics and the Honorspren battled for supremacy. Realizing that their conflict served only to weaken the Knights Radiant, the leaders of both sides sent a delegation to resolve the conflict peacefully. Sensing an opportunity to widen the rift between the Orders, Sja-anat and the forces of Odium ambushed and enlightened some of the ambassadors. Welcome to Break Tank 2: Such Delicious Lies! The rules are down below in the spoilers or can be accessed in doc form here. The co-GM is tentatively @Tani. The IM will be @Elbereth. When you sign up, please specify the time you'd like the game to begin and the cycle length. By default, cycles will be 12 hours and the game will begin at 1600 GMT on Thursday the 16th of June. Probably one of Illwei or Emu is evil. I don't like how Illwei took only six minutes from when TUN posted the cycle to conclude that it has to be 4-2 and that I must be evil because the elims didn't kill me when they're doing a job of killing me via exe. Her being evil though would require him lying about not knowing the elim doc is closed during the day; even though she doesn't read the rules typically I have to believe that fact would've come up in the doc during N0. A lot of Emu's votes look like the elim doc decided who they wanted dead the night before and he's just voting in line with that. For all I know that's purely time-crunch or could just be his regular playstyle. He presumably is a field exterminator instead of a humane skyeel capturer because we know there are three field exterminators in the game. If there's not a detective, those two roles are functionally identical for an elim. I think I will vote Emulaton. Either he's evil or I'll go four4four in shifting votes from a villager to another villager.
-
I think TUN would have avoided the team being exactly Emu and ash. Bort dies to the filter if he doesn't get in his three posts/one vote. I don't think the late D3 Illwei and Emu interactions are e/e. I don't know why e!JNV doesn't vote for me since it's pretty easy to do that. That leaves what, Illwei + ash? Bort + anyone? JNV trying to make sure people don't think my exe is too easy? I don't know since if Emu isn't evil we haven't gotten close to an elim all game.
-
The elims win when they outnumber and not at parity so there technically could be three elims, but if that was true they would have just killed me and been nearly assured a win unless there's a detective that just hasn't done anything. They still should have killed me because I'm the only one left who can be the vote manip because I didn't look at the votes closely enough to see that Bort wasn't voting yesterday. And if it is only a two person elim team they seem underpowered unless they also have a manip and just never bothered to use it since we haven't come close to killing either of them yet. Skyeel Enthusiast hasn't gotten anyone yet if that exists. Humane Skyeel Capturer is only better than Field Exterminator if there's a detective in the game.

The situation had escalated from killing skyeels to killing people. Morovia was supposed to be done with life-or-death situations in Zelida's lifetime. Morovia had survived far more dangerous threats than this over the past two millennia, but if there was any possibility that she would finally die, she'd have to be prepared. That meant updating her genealogy tattoos and then copying them over to a medium that would survive her death. They wouldn't be a perfect record, tracking the descendants of all her charges was functionally impossible, even though she'd long ago made the decision to exclude in-laws. She had to do something to pass the time of immortality, and taking care of humans in their final years and then watching over any descendants they may have, even if only loosely, gave her a connection to mortality and an appreciation for every year that most of the immortals she'd met had lacked. She'd have to make it back in time to stop the killings soon, but for now she had time to make the updates she'd neglected since arriving in Klna. She pulled up the tattoos for two lineages that she'd heard had recently interrmarried and set about the process of merging them. Even dormant, inking their names on her skin made it much easier to remember than if it was just written down. Zelida had seen her do this many times and was a great help with transcription. She had neater handwriting since Morovia was too used to manifest words on her skin exactly as she'd pictured them to have ever mastered replicating that effort with a traditional writing implement. They worked for so long Morovia almost missed the end of the days council meeting and had to rush to make it there on time, erasing all the names mid-transcription and hurrying out the door. Emulaton is telling the truth about being a Field Exterminator I'm pretty sure. Striker easily could be as well but that doesn't stop him from being evil. Mat's theory of Striker/JNV/ash seems plausible and if it isn't we probably lose here unless the detective put in a kill N2 on an elim. There's a good enough chance of Striker being an elim that I'm willing to vote there.

If Bort had been attacked by skyeels, anyone who visited him would have died but Bort would live. If a field exterminator or humane skyeel capturer also visited him, nobody would die. Being told that your action succeeded has never meant that it did anything in any game. It just means that you didn't get roleblocked, which happens not to be a possibility this game.
-
Gronodon or whatever your role was in MR 49. Random switch had a 4/11 chance of hitting an Archer vote since politicians can redirect the vote of people voting for the same person according to the approval PM. Would e!Liranil try to clear herself by pretending not to know the rules? I believe the only game where she's been an elim is MR 47 as a late game convert, so there's not really any evidence either way.
-
I think it's less important whether the politician is an elim and more relevant that if any of the Xino voters are elim, being suspected of being the elim politician is detrimental. Killing Archer makes it less likely that the politician is evil, but that also lowers suspicion on the two people who didn't move votes. If Liranil was an elim politician, she might want to take advantage of this, but she isn't by denying the role. Bort didn't seem to realize that he was a candidate for politician so if he is one, he's either an elim or didn't know his role worked automatically. Overall e!non-politician!Liranil and e!politician!Bort if either are elims. Elim!Bort who wants to maintain his cover shouldn't want Liranil dead. Bort/Striker is a possibility, but elim politician Bort doesn't remove a vote from Striker on purpose in that scenario and is more likely to know how his role works than village politician Bort. Striker does seem to be jumping on votes with little reasoning, which leans elim. I don't see Striker with an elim politician who acted purposefully since removing a vote from Archer risks Striker's life. Striker being elim would make the Archer kill weird because that removes both D1 alternatives to Striker. I don't see that as being useful unless again it's to protect Liranil or Bort. Liranil.

No, but there's no way to know if it is since assuming someone's voting for someone in response to one word in one of their posts is terrible evidence. I don't actually think Mat's evil. I did assume you PMed everyone. The point was that you made it all the way through the list without anyone telling you that you couldn't have group PMs = you could have made that mistake even if you had elim teammates. Matrim's Dice. Xinoehp.
-
Point being that it easily could be a signal word and there'd be no way to know for sure, and the same for any other word. I know you finished the PM list because you sent a PM to ash's_eyes, Stick, and I, the last three people on the list. I have seen v!Xino like buckets. @xinoehp512 what were you're criteria for the bad bucket if you made it before realizing it included everyone voting for JNV?
-
The elims can just kill the detective if that happens, so I don't know how helpful that would be. I think it would be pretty easy since there's no way of knowing for sure what's motivating the votes. If I vote for Matrim's Dice here, it may or may not be because you included key word 'bus'. Covelline was way too much work so Morovia will be much simpler. She's here with Zelida, who at 72 is eight years past her expected lifespan and two years beyond the maximum age her physician gave her to live. 12 years since requesting care is longer than people usually survive, but Morovia isn't going to abandon someone who still needs her. Zelida has recently moved to the coastal city of Klna for her health on her physician's recommendation but since she's not in dire condition, there's time for Morovia to explore the city. She's familiar with skyeels, but never in her long life has she seen such a dedicated extermination effort, nor does she understand why the politics surrounding it are so heated. Killing skyeels shouldn't be such a lucrative business that there would be this much pushback against nonlethal means of keeping them away from humans.
-
Your hypothetical teammates and the GM might not have been around to stop you, since it was in the first hour and a half and you managed to get to the last three players on the list without anyone telling you not to make group PMs. Certainly doesn't mean you are evil though. As much as any Coinshot, tempered slightly by the fact that they're the only one who could conceivably be killed by skyeels. Since nothing blocks the detective kill, it may be worth it for there to be foreknowledge of who they're likely to target so village field exterminators can visit those houses. If a skyeel enthusiast exists though they'd target people not likely to be detective'd so field exterminators might also be needed for that. Most likely, and I'd assume at least one of them can protect the killer from dying to skyeels. They can't discuss who they'd like dead during the day, so they'll either have less control or be more obvious about gunning for a particular player. JNV commonly does run-on sentences so this is not atypical for them.
-
I'll sign up as Morovia the Green Widow. She specializes in palliative end of life care and tries to protect the environment in her free time. Is anyone informed if the skyeels will come back on an odd night if blocked by a humane skyeel capturer? Is the former detective attacked by sky eels the night they target a player for a kill or the night their kill goes through? Will the writeups inform of survival due to skyeel protection or apprentice skyeel extra life? Can elims use day actions and still submit the night kill? Sorry for this but if 4 people sign up for break tank 2 by Monday 16:00 GMT, that game can probably start and finish before this one starts.

Sorry for thinking you were an elim, Bort. The whole game I was thinking that you put your role as Elantrian in the elim doc and forgot you shouldn't do so in the empire doc. I still stand by my D1 vote for Experience. Nobody would have gotten anything out of that claim had I not cast a vote. In the MR, Aman and I think Orlok mentioned that leaving past threads unmerged was convenient for quoting purposes. What do other people think?- 769 replies

Bort (4): Baker, Tani, JNV, TJ JNV (3): Kas, Mat, Bort TJ (1): Sart Tani (1): Devotary I'm mostly okay with this vote count. I'd prefer the 2 count to be on Tani as opposed to TJ since e!TJ wouldn't kill himself and we'd want v!TJ to stay alive (noting that v!TJ largely necessitates on of those three being evil and there's no way the elims started with 7 votes from 5 people and a Forger). Mostly this just clears a Tani+Baker world since I'm not sure why e!Tani would defend v!Baker to this point and claim a day scan as clearing. Either option would probably work. @Sart what do you think?- 769 replies
