  1. That won't be a problem, I think. Also I gave you an upvote because I honestly don't understand why someone would have downvoted your post. Agree at some points, disagree at some others here, most notably Transportation (where I believe I actually have a pretty good idea how it works from Realmatic Theory, though of course I might be wrong). Either way, I'm gonna read Oathbringer first, then go over any additional information in there, and then I'm going to give classifying the Surges and explaining their mechanisms a second try.
  2. This theory goes wrong with the Ars Arcanum of WoK though, where it is said that "A Basic Lashing involved revoking a being's or object's spiritual gravitational bond to the planet below, instead temporarily linking that being or object to a different object or direction," which establishes that Gravitation is at least related to the Spiritual Realm. I personally believe that the Surges should actually be divided in 3x3+1, with three each of Physical, Cognitive and Spiritual Surges, and one Hybrid Surge that uses several of the Realms to do things. This also makes it easier to fit the system in the same core as the Metallic Arts, which have this division more pronounced (the four quadrants are even literally called by those names in Feruchemy). Also, as for the Cognitive vs Physical divison you talked about, I would argue that only Transportation, Transformation and maybe Illumination and Progression could be considered Cognitive powers, which means that Physical is at least 6-4 dominant, which wouldn't really make sense with the symmetry that at least I would expect.
  3. Ah yes, I see. Do you think I am correct that I went wrong in considering the oscillations to be the Identities, when rather they're identities, and the strange loops are Identities? I've been having a bit of troubles with the strange loops in my mind anyways, but as they're a kind of Connection, I assume that this would also explain how Identity is indeed a Spiritual trait.
  4. Eh, guess I was gonna delay actually posting my theories until after Oathbringer anyways. Thanks for the speedy reply by the way!
  5. What table do you mean? Also, what decides wheter a Surge would be more Honor related or more Cultivation related?
  6. It's not 2v1 though. Honor is dead.
  7. That's a good question. I actually had a bit of a discussion with someone else as well regarding Identity, and the core of that lies in what exactly it is. I think, however, that an Aluminiummind stores the highest level of Identity, basically removing it from the person (even though Identity is closely related to consciousness, it's not actually the same, which would make it possible without forgetting who you are or something like that) and storing it in the metalmind. Which would, naturally, imply that if you go without Identity for long enough, a new Identity would start to form... Someone gotta ask Brandon wheter that is the case...
  8. How am I supposed to find things on Theoryland, if everything I type into the search bar gives zero results, and even going to the tag list and clicking on tags gives 0 results? How does it work?
  9. I believe that the Surges and the Knights are actually a combination of Honor and Cultivation, but don't quote me on that.
  10. So, I kind of want to talk about this more (also because I realize I might very well be wrong, in which case I'll have to rethink my theory), but I don't feel like this is the place for it, as this is a thread about the battle between Shallan and Re-Shepnir, even though we were already kinda off-topic. Any chance you can explain more in my theory's thread?
  11. Jury's still out on that as well. It's the leading theory, but there's also MOND, which attempts to offer an explanation for the 'weird' observations without dark matter, as well as a few other, less well-known theories. Also I'm pretty sure dark matter (if it exists) is not evenly spread out according to the theory. After all, if it's evenly spread, how is it going to influence the way large-scale objects move?
  12. That's where I disagree, but meh, don't feel like arguing about it, so let's just agree to disagree. I don't think that would even be needed. Space is 99.999% (or even more) emptiness (there's a reason it's called space), so even if you do come across everything there is, it's still almost nothing. And bceause the Cognitive Realm doesn't really work with distances but instead simply has everything that the Physical Realm has but right next to one another, it's like the space has been cut out.
  13. Really? I thought double-posting was the goal.
  14. I actually think that the 'talking' is actually the force feeding Stormlight, or maybe just makes it easier because we know that perception matters. The resisting and being forced to does fit with those two theories in my signature, and is actually mentioned in L-Theory.
  15. I personally believe that the answer to this is no. The reason is in my signature, but in short: Identity is a fundamental property of particles (in it's core, it's as simple as "the particle is in this position and interacts with these particles"), and more complex Identities form from relations between particles. Additionally, almost everything has some sort of consciousness, which is what allows the stick to 'refuse' Transformation. Also, it isn't actually that it needs to be convinced. You simply need to throw enough Investiture against it to force it.
  16. A person's perception on how to use his or her power is important. That's why Shallan can only create images of people she's drawn.
  17. If you want to get detailed with the concept of Identity, you need to look no further than my signature. It seems, however, that there are both Identities and sub-Identities. Remember how, in WoK, Jasnah Soulcast Shallan's blood after she was poisoned? Apparently, while Shallan has an Identity, her blood has a sub-Identity.
  18. I'm sorry, I prefer rooting for the good guys.
  19. I personally believe that Stormlight is pure Investiture (there is a quantum of Investiture according to Brandon and I personally believe it to be (related to) photons), and that if you're infused with Stormlight, the healing happens 'automatically' (though you could probably suppress it if you were limited on Stormlight). The special thing about Regrowth, I think, is that you can give the Stormlight to others and then have them use it, maybe also automatically.
  20. All Shards change their holder. It's just that Rayse was already an unpleasant individual, which means that he's, as I believe Brandon himself has said "interpreting the Shard's intent in the worst way possible". Odium is, very simply, hate and that which is hated. He will sow destriction, but only if it creates hate. Just like that, he will also preserve, but only if it creates hate.
  21. Then it would surely be a remarkable coincidence that it has the same name as Dalinar's old Shardblade.
  22. If it's pure Investiture, that's not gonna make it easier to Invest in them... To use non-Cosmere terms, the more magic is inside, the harder it is to cram additional magic in.
