[OB] Full Book Reactions / Full Spoilers Thread
Leyrann replied to Chaos's topic in Stormlight Archive
Agreed, but I was talking about what it felt like. As I also mentioned in this thread in the Cosmere theories board, I think that, indeed, the only way anything can truly be solved is if the humans and singers end their war not by one side defeating the other, but by both recognizing the other side as equals to share the world with. -
I also love how this shows how good Cultivation is at looking into the future. Also makes one wonder, was it her or the Nightwatcher who granted Taravangian what he got?

[OB] Full Book Reactions / Full Spoilers Thread

I think it was underwhelming because we already figured it out from the story of the Girl Who Looked Up. It's actually a pretty devastating thing to realize when you think you're fighting evil and then you find out that you are the evil. Good thing it's not a standalone book. We want more! -
[OB] Horneaters Part-Listener

Pretty much this. Don't we have a WoB on it? EDIT: Yup. -
She does occasionally slip out, so it could be on purpose... Can't say without context.

Can someone remind me where the break was? I want to give reactions about this part but I don't have the book here and I don't remember what came before and what came after.

Poor Elhokar... If only he'd have been stabbed two seconds later, he would have finished the First Ideal and healed himself with Stormlight... That hit hard for me. After I realized it was Vivienna, I realized that even the name was a hint.

On one hand, I agree that it's nice to have a non-Radiant in there, but on the other hand I want to see him revive Maya, and I don't think that's going to happen without him becoming a Radiant (Edgedancer to be precise). Edit: And that's my first popular post... A bit of an anti-climax...- 807 replies

Very much agreed! After reading that part where he talks with Dalinar I found myself wondering how much of what we know of Odium is actually correct. Is he as evil as we made him out to be, or is there another secret?
-
I don't think a 10-book epic in the Cosmere is going to end with a return to the status quo. Don't we have a WoB somewhere that "Stormlight Archive is a turning point in the Cosmere"?

[OB] Why Shalash destroyed all art depicting her

I actually don't think Nale is going to help the Knights Radiant. He seems to have chosen the native inhabitants (listeners). -

So much agreed here. Dalinar was absolutely awesome when he denied Odium. Free will > evil gods. I think he's gonna be a Radiant, actually. Just not yet, though. Sure want to see how this is going to develop in the future! -
I don’t think the human vs listener conflict could be solved by war, even by one side exterminating the other completely. Rather, I think that the only way the conflict can be solved is by negotiation and aiming for peaceful coexistence. Odium does not actually care who wins – we already know he plays both sides of the conflict – but just wants there to be hatred. If the humans and listeners fully realize what is happening, and manage to resolve their problems, there cannot actually be another Desolation; even though there are Voidbringer spren, the majority of the listeners still have free will, and can therefore choose not to follow them, and from how I read certain parts in the book listeners can actually refuse to bind with Voidbringer spren. Information, however, will be key in this; if people are not aware of Voidbringer spren and Odium playing both sides of the conflict, they can easily get lured into doing what Odium wants of them. Capturing the other Unmade is probably a big part of this as well, as ‘natural’ things like the Thrill are a major part in achieving the war and hatred that Odium wants. The only thing that then remains, is to actually take care of Odium. I have no idea how that’s supposed to happen, but I do think that it is valid to pose that Odium is stuck on (Greater) Roshar even if there is peace between humans and listeners. I think that ‘taking care of Odium’ would be something along the lines of Cultivation helping someone (I’d put my money on Dalinar) collecting the pieces of Honor and then ascending, and with that power defeating Odium. Alternatively, hey, we got a letter from Sazed this book, maybe he’ll play a part as well. We know already that Odium is afraid of him.

It’s been theorized before, but more than ever before does it seem not only possible, but actually likely that Adolin will somehow revive his Shardblade’s spren and – presumably – become an Edgedancer in the process. It’s already quite interesting that he managed some very rudimentary communication and – and that was truly an OMG moment for me – actually summoned the Blade (Mayablade?) in less than ten heartbeats.

I think Shalash wasn’t actually truly insane. Rather, she absolutely loathed herself for making Taln suffer Damnation on his own for four millennia. This is also why, now that she and Taln have met up together, she won’t suffer any “madness” anymore; Taln has already told her several times that he thinks bending (as I’ll call it) the Oathpact is the best thing they could have ever done. Once she lets this get through to her (if she hasn’t already), there’s no reason for her insanity anymore. This means that Ash and Taln will be the first two Heralds to stand with the refounded Knights Radiant.

With Jezrien dead, Kaladin will become the new Herald to lead the Windrunners. This is also why he does things that even Syl doesn’t realize are possible – Kaladin is going to be more than just a Knight Radiant. Edit: Figured I'd add this in, which I totally forgot about:

And it's got the same root as my own name. Double confirmed!

I've got four threads typed out and ready in Word to copy paste as soon as I wake up tomorrow morning!

Typically, spren aren't fully in the physical world, though. I mean, if you can move your hand through a spren, then that spren isn't actually made out of particles. If you would have a spren that is made out of particles, then things might be different.
-
Oh, now that you mention that... Yeah, I'm predicting that. Syl is gonna figure out how to fully enter the physical realm and then we're gonna see if a human and a spren can get children.
-
I doubt Radiant likes girls... So yeah, I'm going Shallan (confirmed by WoB) and Veil (who strikes me as the type).

She's not too young for the back five.

With the release of Civilization VI I know people set their location to Australia in Steam so that they would get the game early. Maybe you can do something like that with Amazon too?
