  1. I think they're Parshendi or possibly Dawnsingers (who themselves may be Parshendi by some theories). This largely because of Rlain's description of his gods as
  2. This is true, but in the spirit of the question, I would have expected Hoid to use the strictly proper term in his internal processing of the scene if it was an Honorblade and he was aware of that fact.
  3. I agree that Lift thinking the ideal is enough, but I think that only applies to her and her special Cognitive situation. In Lift's case, I had believed the distaste portion of the ideal just her commentary, but I like the idea that one of the oaths for each order directly references things you'd rather not do. In the vein of Taravangian is the next Bondsmith, is Dalinar's next oath going to be along the lines of "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" so they have a shot at working together against Odium despite Mr T's extracurricular activities?
  4. WAS it an Honorblade, though? (dun dun duuuun) Yes I realize there would be no reason to swap blade for blade if you didn't think you were getting something out of the deal. But, even if Hoid can tell the difference (which seems likely but not certain), I doubt anyone else can on sight. Seems entirely plausible to me that someone might believe it was Taln and make the swap assuming they were getting an Honorblade. I postulate to you that perhaps we can trust Hoids analysis better than our own in this case. -edit- I think there's a WoB wherre he says that the blade Dalinar drops at the end of WoR "is not the Honorblade", but I think this might be a case like sometimes happens with "Taln" where he just didn't bother to say "the sword we think is an Honorblade"
  5. I don't think any of them are exempt from the Oathpact. I just think they haven't died since the Last Desolation. I assume that if they died, they would find themselves back under torture. I have no actual evidence for this other than the WoB that the Oathpact isn't as broken as the Heralds thought.
  6. excellent. Is this why there seems to have been an uptick in quoting without sourcing or am I just imagining things there? -edit- sorry, I don't actually mean to derail this thread. can PM unless others are interested.
  7. lol. Series looks interesting, but I was mostly appreciating @Stark's Baldur's Gate reference.
  8. From Boksone, back in February: yay I'm not crazy. That from Theoryland? Couldn't find it to save my life. Shardholder and letter didn't get me there.
  9. Does it grant investure directly on its own? A. I don't think it's been confirmed that the Heralds could draw investure directly though it makes sense. (please offer a source if I'm wrong) B. If they can, I thought it was only the Heralds that could do that. Not anyone who held the blade.
  10. I tend to read really fast. This book being longer than the others, I expect to be through it in less than two weeks. That said, spoilers are supposed to be noted for six months after release, I believe.
  11. I was extremely convinced that Frost didn't hold a shard, but I can't find WoB so I'm just gonna go sit in a corner and reconsider everything I thought I knew
  12. I thought the Cosmere was perfect, but clearly it's missing Miniature Giant Space Hamsters. My feeling is that the most likely theft of the blade will be by the Unmade that we've already seen slip through tight places.
  13. Dalinar did additional cutting. If the sword disappears, I don't think it's going to just slip through the pipes.
  14. Most of the examples that we have indicate that objects get their identity from people. We don't know how Stick identified itself before Shallan interacted with it. My guess would be Tree. If Shallan is the only one to have dealt with Stick in its current form, then her's would be the only identification assigned to it. This would also explain why it was so contrary, beyond just Shallan's inexperience. If her perception was the only thing identifying Stick then she wasn't just changing Stick, she was changing her own identification and knowledge of the object. Actively convincing yourself of something in this fashion is difficult. Though Shallan seems to have a gift in that regard.
  15. My problem is that, so far in the chapters, we haven't seen Dalinar doing much seeking of the past. Sure, that's pretty much all he did in WoR, but he's pretty single mindedly attempting to unify nations in the present. Boring answer I know, but I think he will have learned something tangentially in a discussion with/about Evi that didn't mean anything to him at the time but will now. It will come back to him with his returning memories of her and lead to the Secret's discovery. I like the idea of Mr T sharing the secret, but I don't think it will be properly effective unless you can be convinced that all the current proto radiants will at some point in the near future be gathered to hear it. Obviously Lift has yet to arrive and with the Prime's decision to seal/destroy the oathgate, she might not for some time. As we all know, she can save the world on her own if she has to.
  16. I haven't gone back to re-read, but I thought Dalinar had cut a whole at the top of the pipe to hide the honorblade in. It wasn't in the pipe itself. might be wrong.
  17. I found the virtual globe one, but it didn't actually talk about the size, just the images so I ignored it. I'm not sure where I got the 1/3 from. I'm not finding it. It was in one of the Oathbringer analyses I think, so I couldn't link it here even if I found it.
  18. I think this line of questioning will lead down the same roads as reviving a dead sprenblade. There's a WoB that implies that Nightblood was created using dead blades as a template. I personally don't think Nightblood will develop a cognitive presence such that he can shift from being a sword to being a floating ball of evil-slaying. It seems to me that if growth was going to occur, then the long years he was in Vasher's possession would have developed him beyond the inability to remember that certain people are dead and things that we see from him in Warbreaker. I think he will remain a broken, slightly retarded (for lack of a better word), sort of sprenblade.
  19. Not disappointed. Way to plan ahead. http://www.theoryland.com/intvsresults.php?kw=shardplate The ones I thought most relevant to your question: I'm really not sure how you could phrase it to get a better answer.
  20. I think the annotation for chapter 22 along with knowing Denth has Royal Locks on his own makes this pretty clear. What I want to know is, if the heir has children before they inherit, does first kid have the locks from birth or do they spontaneously manifest when the heir is crowned?
  21. There are several threads on this already. There's another one somewhere that did an analysis from one of the newer maps we have and (I think) determined it was about 1/3 the size of the planet as a whole. I'm looking for it.
  22. Smarter than humans doesn't really make much sense. If they were, humans and Rhysadium should have learned to communicate via written communication, and there's zero evidence of that from what I can remember. So far we've only seen male Rhysadium. Obviously we wouldn't see writing from them, it being a feminine art.
  23. Sorry I misunderstood use of "they". Yes I very much read it as the second. The two mixed breeds were the topic being discussed. There's no reason to suddenly change focus except to intentionally confuse, which, as frustrating as his answers can be, Brandon generally doesn't do.
