  1. Last time we had rollover at a time like this that I remember, the rhythm of the thread was generally that people came to a consensus overnight, then a handful of stragglers and elims (I was an elim) would make adjustments near EoD. But for the most part it was dead thread during what's usually the busiest part of a cycle. Stick
  2. @Araris Valerian and @Devotary of Spontaneity really skimped on the second spec doc huh. :P. Thanks for running this. My suggestion for next time would be to make choosing the more straightforward Methods like Poison, Supernatural, and Loss of Blood more appealing by having slightly more tiles that fit those categories and slightly less that are more vague like Cliff.
  3. I've never gotten to fake claim elim before, that was just trolling :D. Well played, elims. Guessing the person who got the right guess is apparently a foolproof strategy, so I commend you for not over thinking it. I didn't have any elim suspects this game, so you've got that going for you. Might have been eyeing Alpha actually. But point is you did well at going unnoticed
  4. You've certainly made it difficult for us Unless it's the simple answer again. Who we thinking of voting, gang?
  5. Steelrunning - supernatural / Cliff - Accidental (same as Highstorm vibes) / Lifeless Soldier - supernatural / Glass Dagger - Loss of Blood / Awakened Rope - Suffocation / Acid, Digestive Acids - Poison / Highstorm - Accident / Burned at the Stake - Town Square / Enhanced Strength - supernatural / Deepwalker - Ocean / Bands - supernatural / Torture - prolonged sound Cremlings+Dagger would be an interesting combo.
  6. I feel like Araris would classify a Rattle as a prolonged sound. TJ+Nightmaw+Map feels too easy, right? By which I mean, why choose two things that work together if you're the Assassain? Maps are a Wilderness thing There's also the question of why the theoretical animal was heard instead of something being scene. Chasmfiends are big bois, surely that'd be visible to the witness. Hence my greater interest in nighttime creatures. I'm hoping we draw the time hints again. I rejected explosions because I feel like the evidence would be all over the body. Was going to say maybe the Rattle was a hint he struggled to describe, but abandoned that idea. Honestly this clue is most useful if it's a piece of clothing Evidence eg eliminate the Green Hat option
  7. My thinking about the weapons was that they fit best under Loss of Blood. Severe Injury is the vaguest category, so it's best to choose another one if you can. And IIRC there's not too many bloodletting causes of death, so I don't see Araris not going that way. Perhaps the bows could be considered more Severe Injury than blood loss, but then I'd also bring Pistol back into the fold. Ngl I looked at my Methods tiles and they're all pretty suspicious. I wouldn't blame anyone for guessing me, but encourage you to wait for more information. There's zero incentive to guess early.
  8. I concur that animals seem unlikely in this case because many of us introduced the possibility of animal attacks last game under the umbrella of Accident. Am I remembering correctly that in a previous game, Booby Trap was labelled Accidental? Severe Injury is sort of the default, so it's most useful to think about things that better fit in another category and to reject them. Here's what I've got so far: Top Options: Dakhor Ritual – feels like a Cellar activity Jeskeri Cult Ritual – feels like a Cellar activity Rathbore Monk – not Wildernessy Explosion – not partial Ettemetal Explosion – not partial Fire – not partial Shardplate – supernatural Martial Arts – prolonged sound? Mat's Aimian – prolonged sound? Dueling Cane – prolonged sound? Mat's Hammer – no reason to be Wilderness based on Evidence options Betrayal -no reason to be Wilderness based on Evidence Mob animals: Firesnap Lizards, Meekers, Deathants --- prolonged sound Visual animals: Chasmfiend, Hemalurgic Chimera, Animals you maybe wouldn’t see: Nightmaw, Mistwraith (fields fits better imo), Other: Whitespine, Sandling I like the idea of a slave being used on the hunt for a Whitespine, but I dislike an Elderly slave being used in that way. If it's Nightmaw, I don't see why TJ would do anything but Red Flag (:P) which you have to choose visual clue for because there's no other way to hint at it. So I'm looking at Mistwraith + Saddle strap (elderly) + Moon Scepter (slave) + Artisan's Script (slave) + Crem or Rotspren (smell?). But those are Mat's tiles so I'm loosely against going there. uhhhh. Fifth + Aimian + Ragged Cloak/Cracked Shalebark/Pet Monkey. That's the best I've got for now. Alternatively, it's possible Hint on Corpse is about the Evidence, not the Method, which would bring the explosions back into play. Maybe Stick + Explosion + White Sand. (Fifth has the other Explosion)
  9. Archer searched his feelings. He didn't feel evil. He decided to come back another day. Shame about that Ja guy though.
  10. Do you need a filter for this game? In as Archer, not to be confused with Archer.
  11. I'll take this as the You Were Close award :P. I think I'd talked myself out of Highstorm, so I'm glad TKN pulled the trigger. I look forward to the debrief where we get to see what Araris was thinking. Discarded weapon is an interesting revelation.
  12. That was more about your Parshendii idea. Parshendii is also Aman's tile, and I feel like the Assassin wouldn't have helped us out by burning their guess like they did last cycle. He also has Fire and Rathbone Monk, for the record. My holdup about animal attacks is that I agree with Kas' comment that animals would have had Wilderness associated with them instead. That also puts a damper on my plant theories Edit: I'd also like to argue against acid based attacks, since they decay the body. Kind of
  13. Debate topic: when someone is ritually sacrificed, is their body Twisted or Altered? Altered carries a connotation of intentionality, but Twisted introduces a perversion element. I'm going to argue against Fire being a possibility now because Still Warm is the obvious choice for that one. Twisted fits nicely with the plant attacks or spell trouble possibilities The catch is the Accident description
  14. Pancakes being ruled out because we didn't get Feast makes sense. Personally, I think Acid is more of a severe damage type of thing, but I can see Araris choosing the more informative Accident option. If it's not Highstorm, I am confused why we got Noon though. Cult stuff feels like a nighttime activity. What do you think of Striker + Acid + Pendant, @TheAlpha929?
  15. I realized I can eliminate Shades and Cliff from my PoE, since those are my tiles. I've also learned that Highstorms aren't exclusive to nighttime. So I'm liking that one because it fits well with Accident+Naked+(High)noon. Where I'm confused is that Temple/church is an option for location, but it wasn't chosen. But Religious Worship was for In Progress. If we assume that the Evidence Left Behind section is disconnected from the Method and is just about the Evidence tile that was chosen, we're in business. Let's say pancake consumption is loosely defined as Lift's way of worship. But Araris would have ticked the Invested box instead of manmade because it got caught in a highstorm /were Lift's pancakes invested? Maybe maybe not. Right now this is my best theory, e!Mat
  16. Highstorms don't happen at Noon, right? I'm leaving the door open for a magical accident, such as over exerting oneself which Soulcasting. That's not really a murder though, so it's low on the list. Hut and accident lean natural/jungly to me, but manmade and religious seem to oppose that Edit: why isn't is temple if the In Progress is Religious?
  17. Here's my first pass of the Methods of Death possibilities. Feel free to challenge them. Bolded are my favorites. Whoops'd with Magic - Steelrunning, Soulcasting Nature - Cliff, Highstorm, Stone, Cutaway vines, Paitji's finger (most other natural options had poison elements or were suffocation) Animals - Nightmaw, Chasmfiend, Deepwalker, Whitespine, Mistwraith, Firesnap Lizards, Deathants, Meekers, Parshendi, Shades I'm conflicted over whether Araris would call Shades Loss of blood or Accident. I feel like the animals aren't the best fit, but that counts on Araris choosing Severe Injury for them which I'm unsure about. I crossed out humans eg monk because they have intention.
  18. Here's what I imagine the Assassain was thinking about when they made their selection yesterday: -Pick tiles that fit in multiple categories. Ambiguity avoids reducing the PoE. We can lightly assume that things that obviously are in just one category (like Poison-related stuff) wouldn't have been chosen. -Pick tiles that incriminate someone else. This is a lower priority, but if you can set up someone who has similar tiles to you, it's worth a shot. -Mislead people by wrongly classifying or broadly classifying your tiles if you did the color chart assignment. This is a reservation I had about people doing their own selections, but the upside is we can now check to see if anyone tried to slip one by us. Which regards to cause of death: Accident, I assume that was the best option. As in, you can cross off anything with a more obvious fit in another category. What does In Progress mean?
  19. I think it's a fair assumption that a 17 player game has all the roles. :P. I like the work-splitting suggestion, so here's mine:
  20. I will accept derp clears in a game that's supposed to be exclusively based on mechanical analysis. :P. To check my understanding here, the Assassin is picking five tiles from their limited selection of ones associated with them. Then Araris will give us hints based on how he thinks the evidence/methods fit into the world. So for Hemalurgic Chimera he might say Loss of blood etc then we PoE our way towards that conclusion. And everyone with a Chimera card is a suspect, so we throw them in. @ evil Xino pick Chimera + Steel, I dare you
  21. I'll confess that I'm not very good at this sort of game, so my plan is just to knock out two of the possibilities as soon as I get a sense for who the bad guy is. I'll just do the first two on the list there, Chimera + Words of Steel. * Jello enjoyed injesting challenging questjons in pursuit of justice. But no one had died recently, so he was just chilling. In the fridge.
  22. Love the title :D. If someone's attacked but survives, that'll be announced but not why? I feel like Skaa-aligned Mistborn would make more sense. If, in world, there's an obvious class difference between the classes, it'd be easy to tell who is on which side. Post spam is a thing. There's been ways of doing word-count rewards that have checks and balances - look into them. Figuring this part out is very important. Maybe consider having it so that the top earner can only earn X amount more than the second person - if they were set to earn more, they get capped out? Prevents one person from unilaterally game breaking. If I try to overspend the number of boxings I have, what happens? Just fail? What if my conditional bid is if I fail to win the bid on Item 1, I bid more for Item 1. I assume one bid/item to prevent this? Also, set up an order you're working through the bids in or something because this could get complicated. Is the Black Market publicly visible? ... you sure that works I don't trust vague wording like this not to be exploited :P. I see you priced some things fairly highly. You're probably doing that to make them harder to get. Unless you make boxings hard to get (eg limits), everything will be in play always. Make sure that doesn't mess with your plan. Is there a secret rule happening with Gold? Malatium? Are we told if we're targeted/succeed at actions? Interesting. There's probably a way to game this with those unlimited actions/round metals. To a single player or multiple? This happens at rollover? Is there any contingency shenanigans involved with passing/wills? This is a GM's nightmare to keep track of, but that's not my problem. :D. Biggest advice is figure out a boxing mechanic that isn't spammable.
  23. I'd argue that JarJar is higher on the tier list of divisive individuals in that vein. I'll change my name to be Star Wars themed as well. My character's full name will be Jello There.
  24. In as Jello, who is jellous all the good names were taken
