  1. No, lies! the powers of the Void do not exist... *subtly reaches for a Spike*
  2. Good spot, actally that's kind of worse, why specifically Foil? darn you in-universe creations be more specific! Immediately that makes me think of either Tin or Aluminum but I think it is specified that the metal given to the Shin was Iron or Steel so the point may still hold, we can't really know until we get a better definition of Foil.
  3. But divine Breaths are splinters aren't they? I think that it is unlikely that people would be able to create splinters, especially if it is possible to reassemble the Shard, it would be stronger than it was before it was Splintered, although actually good method for defeating Odium XD
  4. Yeah that's pretty much what I thought too, you'd have to be the one who endowed it with Breaths in the first place, still even if it did take the Ninth heigtening to do I'm sure that you could collaborate with other Awakeners to get that much originally, after all it would only be a problem the first time, after that you'd have a even more Breaths so it wouldn't be a problem.
  5. I think Shallan would almost certainly have found a reference to Shadesmar while she was trying to find out how to use the Soulcaster if that's how they worked. As for why they practice with metal I would imagine that it's because metal isn't one of the ten essences and so is harder to Soulcast, why would they need to train it any more if they went to shadesmar? As for the ardents who know about Shadesmar I would say that it is just some obscure piece of knowledge that they know, if it was as easy as using a soulcaster then they could go themselves to find out and also would know a lot more about it (eg. they would already know if you needed to eat)
  6. Sorry I knew it was someones originally but I've seen it repeated a bit so I wasn't sure who came up with the idea
  7. There's a bit of confusion on that front, to become a mistborn with Lerasium you are actually burning it, if a mistborn burned lerasium they would just become a more powerful mistborn. There are ways to do other things with it but you have to know what you're doing, I think it's probably a bit like Iron/Steel when you first burned it you see blue lines pointing towards metal sources, you have to know that if you imagine pushing or pulling on one of the lines that it will push/pull that source of metal only Lerasium is more complex as there is no obvious visual cue as to what you need to do. On the atium/malatium/bendalloy/cadmium thing, do we know if malatium mistings ever existed? and I'm pretty sure that Brandon has mentioned somewhere that TLR knew about bendalloy and cadmium, not absolutely sure on that but yeah. So if anyone has any quotes on this that would be great!
  8. Hey all, I couldn't find a dedicated fabrial thread and I spent half of last night editing fabrial articles on the coppermind and am now convinced that they are one of the most awesome things in the cosmere. I thought I'd start a thread for all things fabrial related, any strange sightings in the book, a list of known fabrials and ideas for the use of current fabrials and the creation of new fabrials. I was thinking about the conjoining fabrials used in spanreeds and my mind was just blown at the possibilities for something like that on Roshar, you could create something the size of your finger that effectively weighs as much as a building if you wanted (not sure what kind of practical application that has but I'm sure I'll think of something) Edit: Actually now that I think about it conjoiner fabrials could be used for levitation purposes, you'd just need to embed one in solid stone and have the thing that turns it on on the other one, then whenever you turn it on it would stay exactly still, I now definitely want to be an artifabrian.
  9. It's not about pushing or pulling, it's about burning and Aluminum can't be pushed but can be burned so there's obviously no correlation. As a side note a metal that has a feruchemical charge is an invested object, my guess would be just not as strongly invested as Shardplate say so it depends where an Awakened metal falls in on this scale.
  10. I keep reading that but I'm not sure why, people talk about bendalloy and cadmium replacing Atium and malatium but those two were never normal temporal metals, and we know that other atium alloys can be allomantically burned. On the subject of the multiple Atium, Lerasium alloys.
  11. It's been theorised that one of the KR from Dalinars vision might have had some Surge similar to the alerter fabrial owing to them 1. Finding him in the first place. 2. Saying that he just needs to call and they will hear.
  12. Except that would mean you can't soulcast over water as you wouldn't be able to have the beads.
  13. Well a metal which has either a feruchemical or hemalurgical charge can be burned even by someone without feruchemy, it just doesn't give the ferchemical power then. So yeah I think that it should at least be able to be burned for its allomantic power.
  14. You can if they bring you cookies XD... unless they have concealed spikes in them.
  15. Alrighty I'll get on to it, it's an hour long so might be a little longer than the others.
  16. Yeah it's been like that for a while, data deletion apparently it is somewhat painful to look at :S
  17. I've been thinking about compounding a bit lately and then I started wondering if something similar could happen with other systems then I was thinking about Nightblood and then got to wondering, what would happen if you allomantically burned an endowed piece of metal? possibilities: 1. It would be like Feruchemy and unless you also were an Awakener nothing would happen. 2. The metal (Nightblood) would go insane and kill you 3. You would be able to compound Breaths. Any other ideas?
  18. Yeah I'd love to see a phonetic translation, I have this thing about learning languages from fiction.
  19. Well I'm always free from transcribing if no one else takes it, it's been doing wonders for my typing speed.
  20. Oh also on the copper spiking thing, the best thing it would seem to me would be to give the spike not to another Archivist but a Copper misting who could then compound the memories, (depending on how compounding copper works) and store them again and THEN give the spike to another archivist, depending on how copper compounding works the memories would either practically never fade meaning that one set of memories could last for generations without having to re-learn the material OR it could be possible to create multiple sets of the memories and share 1 archivists knowledge base between multiple younger archivists the best result would obviously be if both could happen (creating multiple increased-strength memories) just thinking about this is completely mind-boggling it is even possible that if you could do both (create multiple increased-strength memories) which were all accessible by whoever has the spike then you could give that spike to everyone alive one at a time they could then completely tap one of the many metalminds and just not store it again as the information wouldn't degrade and then everyone on the planet could have an archivists memories.
  21. Sorry I think this was just misinterpretation, I meant that he may be powering the system, or at least causing it to exist. We know he has had a lot of Shardic influence to be able to gain foresight Now if he is just a splinter or has a splinter it has to be at the least more powerful than a Seon as they don't seem to have the ability of Foresight more powerful than a Returned even as they do not seem to have quite as specific Foresight although this could just have to do with the Shard they are Splinters of. I think that this has got to be (Shards aside) one of the more powerful entities in the Cosmere, either that or Wyrn has access to Dominions pure essence in some form and knows how to use it. I think that an entity of this power could conceivably power a system. So that's my reasoning
  22. Yeah that's something I thought of too, bit hard to do one for every Aon and Command. Not sure what to do about that, well obviously we could make a separate article for every known Command and Aon but I think that's a little too much Maybe two separate Infoboxes then? One for the system and one for individual powers (If they exist) I just think that once the SA fleshes out a bit more there are potentially 30 powers as well as the 48 from Mistborn (Counting each of the Metallic Arts seperately) so around 80 seperate powers and I think they could benefit from having some standardised info (Which Shard powers it, which Shardworld it's on, mostly the same as the ones for the System but perhaps a few seperate ones (known users perhaps?) and images for the symbols representing it. I'm sure I could think up some more ideas.
  23. New idea, could it be Wyrns system? The fact that he can forsee events leads a lot of crecedence him being very highly involved with a Shard of some kind. I would say that it's almost certainly to do with Dominion but I'm not sure.
  24. I was thinking that if it weren't just for the system (allomancy) but for the seperate powers (Iron, Steel, Pewter, three lashings, etc.) it could be more useful, especially once we know more about the separate orders of the KR
  25. On the subject of the magic infoboxes I think that considering we only have 6 or so that we know about with enough depth to do a good job it seems to me that we had best wait for a few more stormlight books to reveal some more about Voidbinding, the Old Magic and possibly a third system although actually now that I think about it could we add a more general magic infobox for separate powers? only really useful for the Metallic Arts and Surgebinding so far but I think it could definitely be useful and I've wanted to have a look at all the metallic arts for a while.
