  1. So you mean that the pulse and wave length would be the unifying magic over all the cosmere? Ie: The pulse and frequency create the effect no the actual burning of the metal (Which creates the pulse) Well I like it We'll have to see how we can apply it to WB but it seems so far like you need a method of detection (Bronze) or scholars who really know what they're talking about. Maybe in the next WB novel.
  2. I think Brandon said felt was the closest to a mistcloak but other than that I can't help at all sorry.
  3. I always figured that Symbolspren were actually deathspren in my first read through. but that doesn't really work.
  4. The clan of baseless speculators is now definitely going in my sig I agree that their must be at least some Shardic influence in Highstorms, I'm just wondering if the multiple moons cause the irregularity of the actual storm part Might explain the Weeping = Lunar allignment.
  5. Actually I think that considering mistsickness as long as Preservation didn't cause death it must have still been able to. Edit: Sorry that sounded like I was disagreeing.
  6. There's an idea, could Highstorms be gravitationally caused? Roshar has multiple moons I think so it wouldn't be as regular as tides on earth.
  7. Well on the wave-particle duality thing I said in the other thread, SA has some almost references to the observer effect with spren so there may be some underlying science similar to quantum mechanics. But that's all just speculation (baseless speculation, the best kind )
  8. Hey! you ninja'd my whole theory I think WoK is leading up to something like that but we haven't seen it yet, can't think of anything in WB either.
  9. Agreed! let the baseless speculation resume! I believe that allomantic pulses actually consist of a cleverly concealed barrage of waffles! I should ammend my previous statement to 'we don't have enough information to accurately speculate yet.
  10. I think that Feruchemical Chromium and Allomantic Brass or Zinc would be good at the casino, lucky and able to influence the others emotions, ramp up some nervousness at the poker table to make sure everyone has a tell. EDIT: Also I've said this on other threads on this topic but Feruchemical Iron + Allomantic tin = worlds best sentry. Piece of Iron wire that's anchored to the ground, human sentry kite!
  11. Almost, I sort of have something in my head now that also incorporates Atium and Lerasium but I'll have to give it a bit of thought before I post anything on it. But yeah that phrase did come from that. All that being said I'm inclined to agree with Observer, we just don't know enough about the mechanics behind it to speculate yet.
  12. I would like to announce that I just bought a cane and then discovered that it appears to have what I can only assume is a hidden drugs vial...
  13. Count me in, I need to do another read through for prep, hopefully I'll have time to do a second just before release but we'll see.
  14. I know what you meant about reading when AoL came out I read it through and then realised that I was 5 minutes late for uni and that I'd also missed all my lectures from the afternoon the day before. Excellent hobbies, I've always wanted to get into pen-spinning. Edit: Also make sure to check out the Creators corner!
  15. Yo Momma so fat, she tried to get work as a Skimmer but they couldn't find a metalmind big enough.
  16. Yeah they attacked Vin, she didn't find them and she didn't realise the mistborn was burning copper till after their Smoker was dead. Edit: Ninja'd!
  17. Yeah I have a slight problem with the wave model, namely there would have to be some mechanism to cause all copperclouds to be in-phase I prefer to think of it as just they have wave-like behaviour.
  18. But if it was readily available to everyone it wouldn't be valuable at all, that might increase it's value slightly more but I think the large amount comes from it's difficulty to produce. Consider something like Plastic, an excellent insulator and quite valuable as needed to insulate wire, however it is so common that it is practically free in today's society despite it's practical qualities. Then compare that with say a Ferrari, also practical for people today but largely valuable because of it's rarity.
  19. I don't think Aluminum is valuable for Allomantic reasons, it's valuable for the same reason it used to be on earth, it's somewhat difficult to extract from ores (My understanding is that it usually requires electrolysis or extremely high temperatures) I'm sure that in AoL it would be even more valuable than that due to it's protective abilities but generally it would be about the same as on earth. Atium would never have been available to the public in large enough quantities to the public (Also this would have destroyed many plot elements in the book, since Elend and Vin would have definitely had Atium in WoA) So yeah, gold was probably used for the same reason it was on earth, it's rare but not prohibitively so, it's also possible that TLR chose this deliberately as if atium was everywhere, the nobility would have discovered Seers as would the Skaa which would give both a lot more Allomantic power than he wanted.
  20. I always just figured that he used his own mists to push people over the edge once they'd already been weakened by mistsickness.
  21. You just have to know what to search for Probably hard to find it because it doesn't mention Bendalloy.
  22. AoL, WoK and WB all happen at around the same time I think when I first re did the Chronology article that AoL happened after WoK but I think Brandon had to shift the timeline around so I can't remember where it is now. EDIT: quote on the timeline So yeah around the same time.
  23. Also considering time frames perhaps they simply have visited Roshar but at a time when there were no Surgebinders to study.
  24. Well the Ars Arcanum were all written by the same person so they do go to other worlds eventually
  25. Actually this is quite a good point, I can't see how Preservation could Ruin to Preserve since it couldn't even create by itself. Maybe because Leras knew that Elend was going to be healed one way or another it doesn't count?
