  1. I think Seers were also particularly easy to hush up, no one was exactly going to go around wasting atium to test it all TLR needed to do was prevent the obligators from talking. It would have been even more difficult for the Skaa to get enough atium to test people for Seer abilities.
  2. But research into new allomantic metals would be incredibly time consuming, it's understandable that no Skaa ever discovered it, especially since you'd need a mistborn to test (Or a feruchemist) I thought we were talking about destructive interference weakness? I must have missed something
  3. I doubt it's to do with electricity or investiture, I think it's just part of it's allomantic nature. From a story point of view it's a fairly redundant ability now, since there are no more mistborn Aluminum is completely useless (Duralumin can still be granted hemalurgically so not useless ).
  4. People can leave time-bubbles, we see Wax falling through the bottom of a Bendalloy bubble without apparent harm.
  5. I think that Kaladins last tactics would be most effective, well-armoured decoys with Parshendi bones to draw the fire from both the army and the bridges, lighter armour for the other bridgemen. If the number of decoys was increased to the point that they were not completely overwhelmed by archers and they were given stronger armour then this seems a sound tactic. This problem is solved by simply adding more bridgemen, I believe Kaladin addresses this problem at some point, the lives saved outweigh the cost of fielding more at any one time.
  6. I'm sure that TLR has other ways to deal with that sort of thing, denying their houses any contracts if they don't keep quiet? Kill them then get some Kandra to impersonate them? TLR generally doesn't punish the nobility but for something serious like this I'm sure he has his ways.
  7. I did think that too but TLR keeps much closer tabs on them, it wouldn't be impossible for the odd Noble to discover but I doubt they'd share it with others and if they did I think the Obligators would probably catch wind of it and inform TLR.
  8. Keep in mind that while TLR may be able to quell information among the nobilities allomancer population, among the Skaa this would become much more difficult. If a half-skaa Smoker and Seeker discovered that Copperclouds become weaker under certain circumstances they wouldn't exactly go telling the Inquisitors, they'd tell other Skaa and the Steel Ministry already hunts them so it's not exactly like they could say "Right TLR wants to hush up some rumours now we're really going to try to catch some half-skaa allomancers.
  9. But that wasn't the present-day Elantrians was it? I seem to recall that they found Elantris abandonned so they would have had to discover the Aons all over again. Perhaps the original Elantrians discovered them by trial and error and the present day Elantrians by copying them from Seons?
  10. Bronze and Copper are the internal mental metals, Zinc and Brass are the external.
  11. A few relevant quotes. Not sure how relevant this is but I'm sure someone will spin a theory out of it This one seems to imply that the Endowment is specifically tied to BioChroma, could be interpreted to mean that it will always rely on color no matter what world it's on. This is the closest I could find for planets affecting the magic.
  12. Yeah I think we've all been over that one enough I agree with this, it shouldn't be as powerful as Lerasium but neither should it only be as powerful as a regular metal. Lerasium provides a permanent effect I think that that alone is enough to overpower it, it doesn't matter how much increased brainpower you get from atium it's still going to be underpowered compared to that.
  13. ????? Copper is the internal mental pulling metal? Zinc and Brass are the external mental abilities. [Confusion]
  14. This is what I was just thinking and I also had the thought that it appears that the external abilities stack while the internal do not (Makes sense) which would lend credence to Copperclouds not stacking.
  15. Forging is the fourth, the magic in The Emperors Soul. I just want to know when Elantris fits in with the timeline already!?! I would like to point out a possible alternative to this theory, since we know Aons are linked to the shape of the land it may have been possible to discover some just by tracing your finger over landmarks on a map. There's also this, make of it what you will
  16. I find it difficult to believe that Iron and Steel will become more useful than Atium, look at the other god metal Lerasium, hugely overpowered compared to the other metals but they're god metals they are supposed to be ridiculously overpowered. Is it difficult to believe that this could grant upwards of 10x cognitive processing speed? I don't think so. There are only three ways that have been revealed to kill a Seer, 1. Use them to grant yourself precognition (Vin vs. Zane) 2. Catch them in an unavoidable situation (Incredibly difficult without huge numbers, eg. Koloss) 3. Wear out their body to the point that increased reflexes are meaningless (This is how I believe the majority died in the fight against the Koloss.) I don't think that gunpowder is going to render Atium useless anytime soon, with the possible exception of if we find out that Atium has another ability, albeit a less obvious one. (Like Lerasium) but I doubt that, otherwise I can't see one of the god metals becoming completely obsolete and inferior to Iron and Steel. EDIT: 500th post! WOOOOOOO
  17. You might be able to see atium shadows of things before you open it but the door would still be there so you wouldn't just be able to see through it
  18. So it should be reasonably easy to see where the bullets will go, this combined with the superior reflexes should enable avoiding of most gunfire, barring machine guns, etc. Keep in mind that Atium is a god metal it's not unreasonable for it's abilities to be far beyond the other allomantic abilities. I find it hard to believe that atium would be rendered completely useless in the next two trilogies.
  19. Something else to recall is that an atium shadow also leaves a trail back to the present-time object so a bullet would actually create a long shadow back to the point of origin, so if there are two points (Point of origin and the termination point) then a line will connect those two points in a way that I would see as similar to steel-lines. So bullets shouldn't be a problem for a Seer.
  20. Well they were killed to prevent them from challenging a certain odious Shard so obviously that would have been pointless if someone else just picked the shards up again, a more permanent method of elimination was required.
  21. I believe that the Shards are only required for the sDNA to mutate and produce abilities, not necessarily to actually use them, and that's why I believe that only scadralians could actually receive the spikes If the Shard had to be present just to use the abilities then worldhopping would be impossible. Closer to a splinter than a sliver but I don't know if it would actually be termed such by the 17th Shard. Not as far as I know but I do like it, WoK also has a focus on gems don't forget. But we should probably avoid discussing anything too spoilerific for other series since this is just the mistborn forum But yeah there's definitely a lot of potential for some discussion on that.
  22. It's word of Brandon, I'll see if I can find the quote. EDIT: Also just remembered Marsh can obviously compound Atium. EDIT: I just realised that someone already brought that up. as for We do have confirmation that he found a spike for it, I believe he got it off of one of the inquisitors Vin killed, I'll have a look for that quote too. Found the second quote I still can't find the other one and I'm beginning to think I may have imagined it
  23. If it can mimic any other spike that implies those that steal feruchemical abilities as well. I would say that a spike made of atium can steal any abilities but it's unlikely that any other metals could be used to steal non-metallic arts based abilities. Since Atium only exists on Scadrial (and rarely enough there) this explains why none of the other Shardworlds have discovered Hemalurgy. It might also be possible that although Hemalurgy is capable of stealing powers from anyone it is only capable of granting them to Scadralians (No basis for this other than that it should still be tied to Scadrial in some manner IMO)
  24. Presumably because they didn't know whether or not they would stack, Vin is the only person among them who could pierce Copperclouds and so the only one who could tell them whether or not it would work. I think that in-world opinions aren't a basis for saying that they definitely don't stack.
  25. Some of the inquisitors found out how to compound, not most of them but a few, and I highly doubt that they managed to find twinborns for their spikes. Given that it may be possible to share spikes by use of completely storing your identity I think that your identity is more important than where the sDNA comes from. I'm going to have to go with Hemalurgy as well, gives you the ability to compound but additionally it could also be used to give you enhanced base-stats (Strength, etc.) and all you need for those is ordinary humans, you could make yourself a compounding Kandra with Koloss level strength if you had the know how and a simple aluminum cap takes care of the main weakness to emotional allomancy. The main problem with Hemalurgy is that comparatively to the other metallic arts it is hugely difficult to learn, sure you might stab a misting with the right spike but did you place it in the right area? When you place it in yourself did you place it in the right area? How will it alter your body? It's insanely complicated to use so in that regard it is also one of the least useful of the arts. Basically it depends how much you know about hemalurgy, assuming that you know everything about it Hemalurgy dominates Allomancy and Feruchemy, if not you just accidentally stabbed a Bronze misting in a manner which can only steal Copper and you then gave yourself three arms.
