  1. Actually one other thing about how it was written was during the swordfight scene's I noticed that Brandon often says that someone used a certain swordform ie. Rand used Boar Rushing the Mountains. Which I don't recall RJ ever doing, it was usually one form meeting another. A little thing but it did throw me a little.
  2. I know what you mean about wanting to do another re-read, I had to stop myself or I'll be way behind in my reading list, I'll probably cave in another week or so Don't get me wrong I loved all of the Mat chapters he just seemed a little different.
  3. Ah sorry, meant to quote but I forgot, that was to happyman.
  4. Loved it, the ending was great if I had one complaint it would be that Mat seemed a little off but I'd chalk that up more to circumstance than problems with writing. Absolutely loved all the Perrin chapters.
  5. I assume you mean this one? For a start this doesn't show that humans from other planets would be more influenced than Scadralians because Rashek of course was from Scadrial, all this shows is that the power of the Well (Which keep in mind is not the same thing as actually holding the Shard) caused it's users to be in a more Preserving mindset for all we know this was built in by Preservation to keep the power of the Well from being used for harm, or perhaps because it was still Leras who actually held Preservation at this point he couldn't allow his own power to be used to Ruin, there are a multitude of different solutions to this, it's been stated by Brandon that an Intent takes time to influence a new Shardholder and I don't see reason to dismiss that based purely on speculation from a completely different situation.
  6. I've already been RAFO'd on burning an awakened piece of metal so he'd probably just RAFO that one again.

    Feruchemy

I always figured it was the study of the chemistry of Kangaroos at a fair (Fair-Roo-Chemy) But yeah my guess is Sanderson probably just thought it sounded better than mettaluchemy or something like that.
  8. Just finished, it's a great ending if you still haven't reached it yet. Enjoy
  9. I got mine a couple hours ago too, first one from the store XD I'm a couple chapters in and loving it.
  10. I'd say that was more because that's what they thought the Well was for, he also gained knowledge of Hemalurgy and used it all while he had the power, if he managed to use Ruins magic then I seriously doubt he was significantly influenced by the Shards intent, moreover why would it be different for someone on another planet? In fact if anything Vin should be one of the people in the cosmere most effected by Preservations intent, they had a little bit of Ruin in them but were overwhelmingly of Preservation, Allomancers in particular and Vin in particular even amongst Allomancers. If the Investitude in a human had the same restrictive effects on their actions as the Intent of a Shard then Vin who has had way more contact with Preservations power than Ruin should be if anything far less likely to be able to ruin things, not only is the power of Ruin secondary to another Shard in her but that other Shard is the very opposite of Ruin.
  11. Both, no matter how healthy you are a 900 year old would not like like a 30 year old. But he did compound gold as well so there might be a bit of that.
  12. Finished Towers! I almost forgot that last scene when a certain someone shows up in Rand's dreams again, well less than one day until AMoL, so excited!!!!
  13. First off, welcome to the forums! I think it more likely that this is just another cultural component they hold those who destroy things in contempt and hold stone to be sacred so I'd say that's all it is, they still might be making Shardblades but I'd say that most of that metal would be used for ordinary metalwork.
  14. This should be Scadrial I think, Nalthis has Biochroma which has no metals also I thought Brandon answered something like this before.
  15. Ah all right then, I'll have to go through WoK again myself then I guess to try to find anything, I spent hours on it last time and I was sure that we didn't have a timeframe for their calender.

    Releasing Atium

Well 'releasing it' might just be the same as not burning it in the case of metals, which obviously just means it'll get digested but it's also possible that the power could just get returned to Ruin.
  17. Vin just meant that it couldn't be something devoted purely to Preservation, all humans in the cosmere that we've seen so far could harm things any of them would still be able to if they picked up Preservation, at least for a little while.
  18. Could just be an inspirational pre-battle speech, but yeah I think we all know whose going to win (Bella right?)
  19. With Elend at least it later preserved his life, so that's probably got something to do with it, I would guess that Preservation wasn't actually expecting to do any harm as he knew that some Lerasium was around to save them.
  20. Who managed to pin down what the dates are on Roshar? I searched for ages to find out what year WoK took place in when I was reformatting but I couldn't find it. Kudos to whoever figured it out.
  21. Fabrials only need specific gems for the spren that can be bonded to them and Parshendi use spren as well so I doubt it's a separate one for each, could be a combination of all for all of them I suppose.
  22. Perform a half upwards lashing on a balloon.
  23. Someone asked Brandon that once, I think we were given a 'yeah, kind of' so probably not exactly.
  24. Actually the essence is Vapor not smoke, so from what we currently know mustard gas would be no more difficult as long as you actually knew what it was, but Jasnah had trouble with something she'd just seen and smelt, creating something which doesn't even exist yet would be nigh on impossible I think. Oh and Jasnah Soulcasting at a distance is the main reason for speculating that she has the teleporting surge.
  25. 10 years and half my life for me, I'll be sad to see the end but I'm really excited at the same time, all I can hope is that the next generation gets as much enjoyment out of this series as I have and that the Wheel keeps turning.
