  1. But memories are retained, health isn't. If you compounded a memory til it was 1000x stronger you aren't likely to forget it while you're alive. It's not only human attributes but they're the worst. Any spike will grant you the weakness to manipulation though.
  2. What about Spook? The one who stabbed him wasn't directly touching the bit that splintered off. I'd say you need to be Scadralian to receive a spike, but not to be spiked or do the spiking. The spike still needs to hit the right bindpoints to steal their powers and for other worlds a god metal might be needed to steal powers so obviously then they couldn't discover it.
  3. It's only the human quality spikes that are particularly negative for your mental health, Vin was fine. But you'll keep the memories for hundreds of times longer than you would have without compounding, and you can always just keep compounding them. True, but we're not entirely sure exactly how hemalurgic decay effects feruchemy.
  4. I'm guessing that was supposed to be Sazed?
  5. This is what you were looking for I think, but it implies that Breath and a soul are two seperate entities, they can't use what they have because it's not a Breath.
  6. Well there are three different types that we've seen so far so it has some merit I guess.
  7. I never thought about that one either but this is an excellent point. No they do store mass.
  8. I don't think we know, I'll have a check around to be sure.
  9. Wasn't that in the Q&A? Yeah I definitely remember that too. Maybe if Szeth continually lashed their blood?
  10. Both of those came from Q&A's but I think we got Honor, Cultivation and Odium from Stormlight directly. I think Endowment was from a Q&A too. Devotion and Dominion, yep. Emperor's soul is seperate to Elantris, different magic, different continent I think. Elantris unfortunately doesn't get as much discussing as the other books because so far it's only 1 book which makes speculation difficult. Hopefully with Emperors soul we'll be discussing it more and don't worry about not knowing a few things, you'll catch on pretty quick and we were all cosmere-newbies at some point I remember finding out about Hoid and being so confused for an hour or so.
  11. Not a definite no on that but it seems unlikely. I like Comatose's but I would say that Domination would seem to belong more in the second grouping.
  12. My point was to show that people who are invested can have passive-body altering effects. I don't think we have ever heard WoB on something like that, since it's the whole magic system on Nalthis.
  13. Elantrians were healthier, etc. so we have basis for that, I'm just saying that everyone on Nalthis is invested to a slight degree and so have a fraction of the amount of changes the Elantrians have.
  14. I've been meaning to read the black magician for a while now, but then a new cosmere or WoT book comes out and I get distracted.
  15. So other magic users aren't super-human? Essentially everyone on Nalthis is given very low-level magic so I don't see making them slightly super-human a problem.
  16. I'm going to go with Kurkistan's position, I was just thinking something like that, and makes more sense because the decay is about how much of the Feruchemists strength is needed to actually compound instead of just a loss of attribute. So yeah, that.
  17. Brandon isn't really a stickler for pronunciation most of the time the only one I can correct is Galladon = Gall-ah-dawn from http://www.brandonsanderson.com/book/Elantris/page/40/Elantris-Pronunciation-Guide
  18. Unless he gets the obligators to mine it then there will be skaa involved. He didn't manage to hide the Atium completely, he just redirected it.
  19. The Ars. Says that it enhances Durability so it does seem that it's just a matter of making it stronger.
  20. Sorry I wasn't clearer before. Yeah the problem is that we don't know enough about Compounding, but I was sure we had confirmation that when you burn it you need to store the attribute again, this means that if storing had a limit that you couldn't compound with Hemalurgy. I've got to side with Dyring and say it get's diminishing returns.
  21. My point is that if Hemalurgy means you can't store at the same rate then compounding breaks down, if a Hemalurgist can only store say half of their age then when you burn the Atium you can't store it again because there is too much to store in that time.
  22. You're right on the Hemalurgy front, I didn't think of that. But he probably would have experimented with Nicrosil on that too, which makes me wonder more and more how no one else knew about it :S
  23. ? She held the power in WoA which was around a year before she died. Electrum is an alloy so no new mining is needed, Aluminium does have other purposes, it's main difficulty IIRC is in extracting the metal from the ore, not mining the ore (Which is one of the most common on earth and so could have been picked up from anywhere.) and they barely used Aluminium anyway, I can see 1 or two flakes easy enough but whole items of jewellery and a continuous supply?
  24. But they would have known what it was, and TLR would need more Nicrosil stores which they could have looked for. She still held it and is still a Sliver. He repressed tech, he didn't hoard it for himself. Like I said he would've needed skaa to mine the Chromium for him, which someone would have found out, unless there was another Pit of Hathsin, but then the Nobles would've found out...
