The Parshendi don't seem to use gems for switching forms and in every other case it's the stormlight that the gems contain that was used, not the gems themselves. Although it is possible as they do affect Soulcasting quite a bit.

Well it would increase the rate of consumption even more, Duralumin doesn't burn it in an instant it burns it over just a second or two, so there's still room for improvement if it burned 10x stronger in 1/10th of a second or 100x stronger in 1/100th then a mistborn could clear out an entire army with a steelpush.

Yeah and Hungry, I actually think that those two would probably be even more useful in a torture or incapacitation scenario anyway, in a fight they'd be prepared for pain and all the adrenaline would probably help, but who expects to suddenly get a ravenous case of the munchies mid-fight, making them drowsy obviously useful too, gives openings, etc. we need more emotional allomancy users!

Actually come to think of it, if you can't soothe or Riot pain then it's still just as easy to increase it as a sensation, just Duralumin or Nicrosil Soothe someone, they're bound to be feeling a little bit of pain and then that's just about all they can feel, that's pretty much how most Soothers work anyway.

I don't think most fabrials would affect an infused windrunner and it would need quite a bit of stormlight to be able to keep him stuck to it when he changes gravity back down again, possibly multiple times, he'd likely just fall out of his shoes anyway Smoke grenades and flashbangs are a great idea though. On the falling roof idea I think that it's very comparable to falling a huge distance like the chasms, it's the exact same situation just from the opposite direction, and keep in mind that if they survive for only a few seconds they can just lash the ceiling back up.

Does tiredness? Hunger? We've seen both of those get Soothed. And Kel was able to at least make Vin's pain feel 'unimportant. Seems like it definitely could be.

I don't mean it would be unknown in-world just that we're unlikely to see it being used, all the allomancer fights that we have POV from were mistborn so they could shield themselves from it anyway, and I doubt that torturing people was a use that Vin, Elend or Kelsier would use (Maybe Kel in the early days)

Well one of the Soulcasting orders can probably teleport and Windrunners can as good as by multiple lashing themselves they can move fast. Also given that Kaladin survived that fall from the top of the chasms to the bottom (Before he was even good at using stormlight and with minimal Light left) I don't think a few tiles are going to do much. Might slow them down long enough to pincushion them with some arrows though.

You can't unfortunately, I think our current workaround for those sorts of accidents is just to upvote somewhere else.

I just finished another readthrough of WoK and I kept thinking about the prayer-burning in Vorin beliefs I think someone started a discussion a while ago wondering whether this might be based off of the metal-blindness we saw in the Scaralian Shards and so would be Roshars focus, I don't think we really came up with anything but I was reading it again trying to think of what the focus might be and I came up with one of two possibilities given other hints from the little magic on Roshar we've seen. 1. The focus is light, the fire produces a light which blinds Rosharian shards, obvious other examples are stormlight, spren frequently glowing in some way, glowing glyphs on KR Plate. 2. (This one is much weirder and probably less likely) The focus is cognitive aspects, we know that Spren play a part in all magic systems we've seen so far, Soulcasting seems to rely on cognitive aspects, it's behaving honourably which grants you Surgebinding (Honour can only be described in terms of cognitive beings) not sure how that plays into the burning messages thing unless it's because it no longer sees itself as a message and so then Honor could have seen it? Anyway this one seems really weird and unlikely but it was one of those persistent thoughts while I was reading, it came from when Navani burned her massive glyph and mentioned sending it's soul to the almighty, got me thinking about realmatics So thoughts? disproofs? any input would be great. Surely it would be Rayseum? I could believe that some types of Shardblades are Rayseum but not all, and it would also require significant investing on his part, which would weaken him.

Depends what Surgebinder, and Soulcasters would just transmute it, Windrunners have a reverse lashing for falling liquids and can just basic lash themselves through any ground based flames, although I'd be very interested to see what would happen if you sprayed a full lashing into a fire, covering a windrunner in oil might work but how you'd achieve that I don't know.

Well given that Atium compounds give extra temporal effects they'd probably just be able to deplete all of their future stores of metal too

I'd say that Nicrosi. enhanced Nicrosil would probably increase the range or something, not the end rate of metal consumption, maybe a Nicrosil bubble instead of having to touch someone, could be incredibly useful if the same applied to chromium.

Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence, of the soothers and rioters we've had direct accounts from most of them were unlikely to try torturing someone, the fact that it isn't mentioned explicitly doesn't mean it never happened, no one ever managed to push on titanium during the books, doesn't mean it's immune to pushing or pulling.

They'd just get sucked dry from Szeth when he entered the room probably, it's also a bit cost prohibitive to outfit many people like this, you wouldn't want to waste them on a more ordinary intruder and switching ammo would take too long. I was just doing a re-read and there's a fabrial designed to suck stormlight out of gems, I wonder if it would work on a Surgebinder.

Or he might have used a method that didn't require an inborn ability, like a fabrial or something.

We had a good discussion on that a while ago, there's a quote from mistborn 1 that suggests you should be able to soothe pain, tiredness definitely is. I'll try and find the other thread on it.

But non-allomancers can use Atium as a spike, then again they can use any metal in a spike But under this model we wouldn't expect burning atium allomantically to give you Hemalurgic abilities since Allomancy is Preservations system, and since we when used hemalurgically Atium allows you to steal anything it is actually quite like Lerasium. I think the jury's still out on this one, could go either way for me.

I wonder what would happen if a Duralumin gnat burned it just as they were being spiked.

I doubt it since they're external powers, no more than you could increase someone else's strength with pewter, perhaps one of the god metal alloys would allow it though.
