  1. Not the best photoshop I've done but I wanted to do it quickly
  2. Some rice containing large amounts of vitamin B2 would appear and try to stuff themselves down Nighthounds throat to choke him to death before they vanished. Then because even Calamity's not that evil he extended Alliterations power this once so the rice would forever follow Nighthound around, stuffing itself in his mouth whenever he tried to speak to someone and spelling out his weakness whenever anyone is nearby.
  3. Thanks, took a lot longer than they usually do due to my need to frequently check the thesaurus to find a word starting with a particular letter He's somewhat limited in power, his ability isn't absolute, so he couldn't just kill Steelheart by saying 'Steelheart slain sadistically' since it'd take more power to break through Steelhearts PI than he has but other than that yeah he can pretty much win fights like that (Though with non-specific phrases he runs a higher risk of not getting the exact desired effect, so he might be victorious in a beauty pagent instead of the fight he wanted to be victorious in ) On the time matter it would achieve as much of the effect as possible during that time period but if it wasn't completely achieved then it still stops, it's one of the reasons his emerging Epic endeavours ended early, his sentences weren't long enough to create the desired effect.
  4. We do? *Checks bottom of feet* But why would we need- Oh right, other kind of souls. Yeah we do need those.
  5. Welcome to the forums! Hope you have fun. Personally I'm always torn between Stormlight and Mistborn for my favourite fantasy world. I guess technically I can just say the cosmere is my favourite Would you care for a welcome to the forum cookie?
  6. A day in the life of Alliteration: Read righteously renowned reader, rare ruinous revelations rest ready. Ahem. Pardon my pernicious punctuation, plentiful problems persist within punctual performances of pronunciation. I shall endeavor to avoid alliterating as all answers are advertised. My name such as it is is Alliteration, I was blessed or perhaps cursed as some may see it by a ravenous red reality, wherin my relationship readied rapidly towards rage. Sorry, I'm doing it again aren't I? Well suffice it to say I was given a power by a shining red star, that which some now call Calamity. My mannerisms often mesmerize those unable to match my meeting with my mood. Before Calamity I was no one special, I worked at a restaurant, cleaning dishes, I'd never progressed to college, never paid any particular attention to language, literacy or larceny and yet now I alliterate affluently as all are astounded by acts of arcane animosity. You see I was given a power both greater than most and yet also lesser, depending on the decider of the design my prodigious powers are promoted both plural and peculiar on one hand yet singular and stupid on the other. I can create almost any object, effect, being or situation I desire, though only within a certain distance however I must do so by speaking sentences spelled singularly starting with such similar situations. Or to phrase it otherwise, I must speak my desires in an alliterative sentence with little leeway. For one not well versed in language this presented something of a problem, limited to little lashes of languid liveliness interspersed ineptly with infuriating inexactness. My powers were greatly limited by my vocabulary and with such small sentences produced effects of either extremely low effectiveness else ensured utter unpredictability ensued. Enraged by early estimations, my eloquence expanded expertly. And thus now I stand as a lexicographer, levied leeward to learn lawless look, powerful posture and appropriate appearance. Chronicled consecutively I caption cordially the commotion comprising my common consciousness. I awoke as always, alliterating accurately to alleviate all additional apathy. Already alert and awake, I absconded appropriately from my abode. Living 'longside the lake led to little parallel properties. Their problems persisted but preoccupied with problems was prohibitively plausible, possessed with power as I was. A neighbor had deigned to decorate my dwelling disgracefully. A rock had hurtled headed hurriedly for my window. I returned my neighbors favor by reciting 'rebellious rocks retaliate', causing a tumble of gravel to hurl itself at the offenders house in turn. Tribulations thusly traded I traipsed towards town. Walking was ever a way to wallow so I willed a wishful way, whistling as I went. Creating cars caused commotion but was common enough covertly that a candid causation of convertible could be construed as constructive. Driving diligently I decided to deign the city center with my delightful dignity. Epics ever entrapped in endless engagements were encountered with eager enthusiasm. Plenty of powered people peppered the principle place of population. and so finding Epics both familiar and foreign in the town center was fairly facile. "You ready to fight ya stupid snob?" Sneered a suspicious supernatural as I swerved into a stop. "Alliteration always attends an arranged affair" I replied remorselessly, ready to rend reality to reap the rewards of this ravaging rebel. "You and ya stupid words. You reckon just cause you can do a bunch of stuff you're better than Silverstorm? Well you see how your fancy words protect you from a real Epic bud!" A silver streak soared swiftly. "Sudden shield." I said stately, a shield shimmering succinctly into space, stopping several silver spears. The shield vanished almost as suddenly as it had appeared, another artifact of abnormal abilities. That which was summoned sustained only so long as the sentence which spawned it. The shield had lasted only as long as the phrase that I had used to create it. Still a sudden stall gave significant space to stage a second. The Epic still seemed stunned as his swift strike was severed. "Falling fortress fated for final failure." I uttered with deliberate slowness. Several tons of brick and mortar appeared a few dozen feet above, heading swiftly downwards as gravity took hold. Even speaking slowly it would swiftly scram once summoned. Yet not swiftly enough for the Epics underneath it. "Teleport transports to the threshold." I said, speaking suddenly. An effect such as teleportation seemed to hold even after the elapsed time. So I was suddenly shifted skyward to a situation safe from the soaring structure. A loud crash commemorated the completely crushed comrade and competitor. The Epic known as Silverstorm had died. My name is Alliteration and this has been my day.
  7. Not exactly a tone conducive to a good discussion but regardless, aside from pointing out the obvious that you're doing exactly the same thing I could point out (yet again) that Vin was perfectly able to sense that feruchemical compounding was a separate burnable storage and that you're the one saying that if there's no direct contradiction we should assume allomancy and feruchemy act similarly, or I could point out the exact affinity you just mentioned. No I'm not. But I'll also point out that just as Allomancers don't detect different reserves of Zinc or Brass and yet they can be used to affect a variety of emotions does not mean that they couldn't tell the difference between different power reserves, not being able to detect different sense storage in no way implies a lack of ability to separate the ability to store nutrition and the ability to slow time. And yet this is emphatically not how compounding has worked in the traditional sense, you definitely do have to do something different to get a different effect. Allomantic compounding should work in exactly the same way then, it should go 'oh this is steel' regardless of whether you've stored any speed in it and ask you which power you want from burning it. This is specifically stated to not be how the power works, the structure of the metal filters the different powers in different ways. Evidently not, as has now been pointed out multiple times normal compounding does require a special trick, you change the allomantic signature of the metal itself by storing a feruchemical trait in it, the power gets channeled through the 'healing' shaped hole instead of the regular Allomantic gold shape and gives you healing instead of weird visions. Burning a metal in your stomach does nothing whatsoever to the metal on your wrist, it gives it no power, no Investiture, changes it in no way and so the power you funnel through it shouldn't be changed either. If you could compound feruchemy by storing a charge in one piece of metal then swallowing a separate piece of metal and getting a feruchemical burn then they would be analogous, that's not the case here. For it to be analogous you'd have to be using the metal inside your stomach that you're burning as a metalmind. Look back at my post and please tell me where at any point I said that. I said that newspapers and the public media have never claimed to apply the scientific method, I didn't say that scientists at any point in time were infallible, merely more accurate regarding the subject of their research than newspapers were. If you disagree with that then I doubt this conversation can progress. As an aspiring scientist myself I'm well aware that science has been wrong in the past, hell science has been wrong the past two days nevermind a hundred years ago. But the people who study a phenomena for a living be they past or present tend to know a lot more about that subject than most people who don't spend all day looking at it. Sure medicine had far to go in the days before germ theory was discovered but look at classical physics, many standing pillars of mechanics were discovered centuries ago and we still use them today. The difference was mainly one of technology, studying mechanics is easy, it's represented in the entirety of the physical universe. Studying illness when you have neither the means to look at microbes nor the knowledge that they affect the body in any way is near impossible. Now unless you're suggesting that some vast technological achievement needs to be made on Scadrial before allomancy or feruchemy can be studied (Which they already are) then there's no reason to assume the scientific community at large would be ignorant of it. There's also no reason he wouldn't know, he clearly knows a lot about the mechanics of regular compounding and if the latter is as easy as you say it is it should be if anything more commonly known not less. Again if he does know about it then he has no idea what enhanced gold might do, no one knew that emotional allomancy could mind control Koloss, Kandra and Inquisitors if it was powerful enough until someone discovered how to boost it. Knowing that enhanced allomancy is possible and disregarding it out of hand (indeed not even mentioning it) would be downright stupid, not the kind of mistake a seasoned allomancer like Wax would make.
  8. Going solely off of some vague recollections of RRP labels I'm pretty sure most books are more expensive here than in canada too. Also the weathers better there. Can I trade countries please?
  9. First episode of Noragami was good and I might enjoy Heavy Object, depends how it develops in the next episode or two.
  10. Emphasis mine, my point is that even if they don't know what it is they'd know that every single metal has another property they can store in it, it might not immediately be recognizable as allomancy but nothing like that is ever mentioned by any feruchemist. Vin can't tap feruchemy, she could still feel it as a separate reserve of power. There's been no need for Sazed to muse on the potential intricacies of all feruchemy, there's been plenty of need, incentive and clues to tip Sazed off about allomantic compounding and plenty of need to discuss it as a potential complication. At no point did he point out to Vin while she was experimenting with burning a metalmind that he had a similar experience of having a trait he could store in a metalmind but he can't store it, particularly odd given his scholarly nature. I'm not talking about Miles talking about his gold I'm talking about everyone else, if you're Wax, planning to go up against an insanely powerful compounder and you know about reverse compounding too, even if you've never seen or heard about Miles or any other gold compounders doing anything with their abilities you'd at least consider that it might do something dangerous and discuss it as an option. Newspapers are no more accurate now than they were a hundred years ago. Scientists and researchers on the other hand would be far more accurate and knowledgeable on the subject.
  11. Studying lawmakers /= studying feruchemy/allomancy and twinborns, perfectly logical, also the obvious reason she needed it explained to her was so that the readers could have it explained. More importantly just because regular gold doesn't seem terribly useful doesn't mean that if you were able to boost it through compounding it would be, Mistborn considered Bronze largely useless until Vin showed that with a slight power boost it could pierce copperclouds, to not even consider that compounding gold allomantically might give Miles some advantage in a fight would be insanely reckless. Vin was one of the only Allomancers to ever try and that's exactly my point, the metal had to be charged with power before it could be used in any other way or even felt in another way so why do you assume that it doesn't work that way in reverse? All Feruchemists touch their metals and know that they can store in them, if storing allomancy in them involved absolutely no secret or trick to it then there's no reason they wouldn't immediately identify that fact. Vin was the first person to think of doing that in around a thousand years as far as Sazed knew so yeah I'd say it's a pretty unique leap in logic. Sazed, Kelsier, any of the mistings in Kels team, none of them at any point in their lives even thought about trying it. I didn't say they knew everything they could do with it, not necessarily what they could store but just as Vin can tell that Sazeds feruchemical charge is different from her normal reserves feruchemists would be able to tell that they could store something else.
  12. I don't have Epics named after many elements but I don't know how much I can do from them. Might give it a go though. Maybe I will give it a go, though I haven't read german since 10th grade so I may be a little rusty on my translations Love them both, meta Epics ftw! The Carlisles would love to get their hands on some meta Epics for experimentation but I think that's not a job they'd be likely to volunteer for.
  13. More to the point wouldn't every feruchemist ever have realized this? If they knew that you could actually store two traits in iron or steel even if they didn't know what the second one was or how to store it since they weren't allomancers you'd think it would be mentioned at some point, particularly when Vin discusses it with Sazed. It's not about being complicated but even if it were, the former involves making the less than intuitive leap of logic that you should eat one of your own metalminds, potentially wasting valuable resources which is really not a great idea unless you have any clue that it might do something. The latter merely requires you to have both abilities and touch a piece of metal, much easier to do. But more importantly allomancy in no conceivable way changes the structure of the metal on your wrist to say 'oh no we're not storing speed now we're storing allomantic pushing', feruchemy charges the metal with a power, when you try to burn this the power that passes through the metal goes 'oh there's healing in here, guess you want that instead of normal allomantic gold'.
  14. The adorbs are strong with this one.
  15. It's 4am and I am still unable to sleep. Instead my brain has decided to give me lingering anxiety and shakiness from my foolish decision to spend more than five seconds outside. Anyone have some pugs?
  16. So that escalated a bit quickly... Here is a picute of a cat cuddling a teddy: To the topic at hand I'm relatively certain that at the least Nicrosil will be needed to store Allomantic Investiture either that or some completely new way to hack the powers. I just see no logical reason why Allomancy should suddenly become a storeable trait with no trickery needed, feruchemy changes the metal by charging it with a feruchemical trait such that it acts as a different channel for Preservations power, burning a metal in your stomach doesn't in any way alter the metal on your arm to enable it to store allomancy. Maybe you could store Allomantic power in a metal you were already burning but I don't even know how that would work.
  17. It was at this point that everyone gave up all hope for Oregon and Obliteration was called in to nuke the entire state.
  18. So kinda awkward but I only just realized this thread exists despite the insanely large number of posts and details from some of my favourite Sharders. Anyway, awesome work you guys!
  19. Good time for me to plug my Epic called Oscar who has the power to teleport and create trophies, as a redeemed Epic he teleports around the world handing out trophies to those who deserve them
  20. That is regular numbers, just that 57.2314 of those numbers are imaginary.
  21. Welcome to the forums! Shardbearers aren't as big a problem as spikes are. I pick the non-commital answer of they're all my favourites in different ways Elantris because it came first and started the cosmere, Mistborn because it's such an amazing world with great characters, Stormlight because it's the best written and it's shaping up to be an awesome Epic and Warbreaker because it has Nightblood. Oh and since you're new would you like a welcome to the forums cookie?
  22. "You shall never be able to bear this next onslaught for your crime of striking me!" "What are you going to do? Try to kill a reincarnator? Or trap me for as long as it takes for me to kill myself and reincarnate again? Go ahead do your worst!" "Oh I shall, I am going to... COMPLAIN SOME MORE!" "Oh god it's a thousand times more terrible than I could have imagined!"
  23. Other than a brain aneurysm from trying to withhold the urge to punch her you mean? (They would likely be unsuccessful)
  24. So now that PP and Saccharine are in the museum does anyone want to interact with them a bit? Most likely Lightwards since Funtimes is out and in her absence it's probably him they'd be talking to.
  25. I apparently spoke too soon, a combination of hot weather and being outside doing the lawns quickly caused another panic attack and now I'm shaking like a.... thing. I don't know analogies well right now.
