  1. First you have a key misunderstanding of the bands. They are metalminds. The power is stored in them. They aren't raw Mistborn power. They are the power that Kelsier directly placed into them. They aren't "superuser" whatever that means here. Yes, 16 is an important number in the Cosmere as a whole. Sixteen is the base number in allomancy. No one is arguing that fact. You are trying to smash two quote together to mean what you want them to mean. I'm not nor have I argued that fact that Leras replaced some of the mistings with atium mistings. Leras removing mistings from circulation does not mean that atium mistings did not exist naturally. It is more than plausible that they didn't exist at a high enough level to stop Ruin. It suggests that Harmony allows the 16 base allomantic mistings. It does not imply he removed misting potential for atium. Leras liked the number 16 because of the Cosmere relevance. This is why his signals were 16. Something he thought the people would understand. Harmony does not have a reason to stop atium mistings from existing. Just because there previous were 16 natural mistings does not mean there are not more now. It for sure does not mean those are the only mistings. I am not saying I am correct. I am saying that you aren't necessarily correct. We do not have enough information to conclude whether atium mistings exist. We have no idea what Sazed has done with the magic system.
  2. That is an odd thing to be sure of. The lost metal is specifically referencing Atium in the earlier Era2 books. Era2 takes place about 300 years after the pits were destroyed. About the amount of time that it was theorized for the pits to begin producing Atium again. What you are saying doesn't mesh up well with what we know. Feruchemy does work with Atium. If you broke up Feruchemy you'd have atium ferrings. If you break up Mistborn there would be atium mistings. I don't understand your reasoning for only full Mistborns or Feruchemists being able to access god metals. We have seen it happen. It is more than plausible that it can still happen. Even with Leras altering allomantic potential the possibilities of atium mistings should exist. We know it is functionally possible. I don't see a valid reason why it would just stop. I could be wrong, but my idea is that A-malatium abilities are very similar to gold but warped. So F-malatium may have similar properties to F-gold but warped.
  3. I don't think that is the only purpose. Hoid appears to be trying to bring someone back from the beyond. Someone close to him. Someone whose death fueled such hatred for Rayse. What you have lost isn't Hoid trying regain some power he lost. He is trying to bring back someone that has died. Something that would not have been possible in the days of Adonalsium.
  4. Why would that wheel not include a rare god metal area? Scadrians are permeated with with both Ruin and Preservation. Lerasium can be burned by all. So I would think that at the very least there would be a few natural born individuals with sDNA to burn atium. I will admit you could be right, but we are coming onto a book called The Lost Metal which is most likely atium. Would be kind of a let down if no one can burn it.
  5. Preservation altered some of the mistings that would have been of the other metals to be Atium mistings instead. This does not mean that there were not naturally atium mistings. It means that he needed a lot of atium mistings quickly. If you think about it they found far more atium mistings than they should have very quickly. More atium mistings than other mistings in the army. I do not believe Malatium mistings exist. Sanderson has RAFO'd this. I believe because atium is itself investiture that an atium misting can burn all atium alloys. Atium alloys essentially not being fueled by Preservation the atium access is itself the key. The bands would not have contained atium usage as Kelsier would have had to store atium power in them to make it. He isn't going to waste atium on that. He used the 16 base metals. The god metals are not part of the base allomantic wheel.
  6. It could for sure be important. It seems obvious that Edwarn making money gambling at the track was actually money coming in from elsewhere. Probably money laundering. I believe if you find where Edwarn was getting this money from you'd be able to track some of his dealings. On a side note: As someone with what used to be diagnosed as Asperger's. I just shrug off not only emotional trauma but physical pain. If someone manages to make me angry I go full overboard and can barely control my rage. I find it plausible that Steris hasn't hit her snapping point. Also positive emotion has much more of a snapping effect on me than negative. I wonder if you could snap based on strong positive emotion. If so Steris may snap at a point she fully realizes that Wax loves her. That being said I think she is going to be an Atium or Harmonium misting.
  7. Shades are the perfect security guards! If you run you are dead. If you start a fire you are dead. If you spill blood you are dead! Ok, I guess technically if anyone does those things everyone is dead. Sometimes you need mutually assured destruction.
  8. Aluminum stores identity. You might have to throw that into the mix. Could they tap gold to restore themself to life? Would they still be bound by commands?
  9. I wanted to talk about Malatium. I very odd name for the alloy of Atium and Gold. The root mala usually meaning bad or wrong. In MB Era1 Sazed is unable to figure out what Malatium can store Feruchemically. In Allomancy we have almost a ruined gold effect. A twisted version of gold. I think Feruchemically this might be similar. We will have a parody of gold. We know gold stores health. I suggest that Feruchemically Malatium stores harm. Sazed if not injured would have had trouble storing an attribute of which he was currently lacking. If this is the case this would be even more powerful than health. You essentially would never need to tap this metalmind. Just simply store all of your harm into it. Now, I also believe this has to do with Ape Manton someone killing allomancers in Era2 that tortured Wax. I believe he is using Feruchemical Malatium and using a reverse gold symbol as there is currently no Feruchemical symbol for malatium. I do not have much evidence because there is not much to comb through in regards to Ape. This simply is an idea.
  10. I actually had never caught that. Nice!
  11. I don't see how that is easier. We know the names of most of the shards. We don't know the names of most of the shardholders. For the most part saying Autonomy's God metal is more clear than saying Bavadinium because more people know about Autonomy than know Autonomy's name. The intent also is probably more important to the metal itself than the actual name of the shardholder. Atium, Lerasium, and Harmonium are the exceptions because they are directly named in the Mistborn series. The Southern Scadrians refer to Harmony's god metal as Ettmetal. Harmony refers to it as Harmonium because he didn't like the sound of Sazedium.
  12. I don't understand the point of this but. Harmony is Harmonium/Ettmetal
  13. I don't think Patji is just an island that is an avatar. It is a living creature that is also an Avatar of Autonomy. Similar to the islands on Roshar that are lived on. Just much large in size.
  14. So nope. No. Just no. Just very obviously no.
  15. This does't mean that Nightblood is converting anything into breath. If someone wants to find the WoB on it Nightblood converts everything into raw investiture.
  16. If you read what I said. They could have very near pure silver. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Refining_(metallurgy) Silver extraction does not require advanced technology. It isn't going to be 100% pure but it is going to be VERY pure. Nothing contradicts unicorns either. That does not mean unicorns are a valid theory. If you'd like to keep believe this it is fine. I'm just saying there is literally no evidence for the theory, and the book directly contradicts that it is anything but silver by telling us it is silver.
  17. Fine they don't have pure silver. Even though yes they are at a time where they could process silver to near purity probably a 99% level. That doesn't mean all silver on Threnody is a very specific alloy that is luckily able to affect shades. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Refining_(metallurgy) The silver is being constantly replaced. Also it is near impossible to predict the speed of tarnish without know the temperature and humidity. In some place silver not being handled can take years to tarnish. It just isn't. As I pointed out many time you then are relying on your silver having specific trace metals to work. ALL silver is not going to have the same impurities. This would mean some silver would not work. As all silver would not work you would have a very specific name for the silver alloy that does work. It actually is less valid. It literally is unsupported by evidence, and it directly is contradicted by the written material. All current Godmetals are new metals that don't exist on Earth.
  18. Could be, but we haven't seen any other benefit of BioChromatic breath from 17th shard members. I also would suspect Endowment would be upset if a group is taking a lot of breath off world. It is definitely a possibility though. It would be the easiest way.
  19. We call things that are sterling silver sterling silver. We also aren't depending our lives on specific impurities in the metal. If silver doesn't save your life and sterling silver does you are not going to confuse the two terms. If silver alloy it is preventing your death you sure as rust need a specific name for it. You aren't going to encounter tarnish when your silver is turning to dust constantly. You aren't noticing tarnish on silver barriers or care. You wouldn't experience this with a blade in which you are taking care of. Tarnish was not important to the story so it was not included. Heck they could be using some alloys for stronger metal, but the alloy is still not what is important. The silver is what is mentioned. The silver is what is affecting the shades. There is literally no reason to not believe what we are told here. Why are you so sure silver is not the cause of this?
  20. I agree it is probably very complicated. It also seems to be a key to long life. I think manipulating this might be how the 17shard is surviving so long.
  21. It wouldn't. The duralumin used in the Metallic Arts is ninety-six percent aluminum, four percent copper.
  22. Again you are then relying on specific trace metals naturally occurring in your silver. For something this important to life you would not call it silver. As all silver would not have this identical natural impurity. We know that in allomancy slightly incorrect alloys can be burned, but it can make you sick. The impurities likely will not stop any silver effects while pure silver may be more effective. It is a huge leap of faith that silver is anything but exactly what we have been told. We have no reason to not take him at his word. Silver pops up often in odd places in the cosmere. It more than likely has properties cosmere wide similar to aluminum.
  23. Extremely unlikely. Silver is a key element in the survival of the people. If it was a silver alloy someone would know. They wouldn't refer to it as simply silver because the difference between naturally occurring silver and the alloy would be the difference between life and death. They also were not describing the item as silver. They were calling it silver. There is a huge difference. In the real world it is pretty obvious if someone is referring to a silver color or silver. Here the context heavily implies they are referring to silver the material. There is no evidence that it is not silver.
