    It would be too easy as a plot point if you could just extinguish a person from the other side and I think that the principle of viewership would apply here as well. That and the fire is almost certainly energy in composition so its destruction would be virtually impossible @Extesian's point about nightblood ... considered it would still be difficult to imagine.

    I am tempted to say that you cannot truly destroy an idea in shadesmar it would not be able to impact the state of things in the physical world. If it were so easy to simply destroy things then... I think that as was theorized that the "bead" would heal itself.     As the others have said the spren did not die until the act was done. The abandoning of their oaths is what killed the spren of the knights as for the heralds they don't have spren to kill their blades most probably came from honor himself and are bound to them.

    Perhaps the fact that he moves so quickly and frequently from place to place allows him to fly under Odium's radar. His focus is so big picture that Hoid's ability to avoid the spot light makes him virtually invisible.
