  1. Wow... Opened the Shard a few minutes ago... More notifications in 12 hours than I've had in ages. So... Yep. A pointless post.
  2. Life goal: learn how to english.

    I mean, seriously.

    Why is English so difficult?

    I read all the time.

I should know how it works!

    But noooooooo.

    *sigh*

Don't know if you're talking about its rules or if it's your second language and it's weird to speak but in either case the answer is yes.

    2. Nathrangking

      Nathrangking

Agreed. The language is weird on so many levels.

It's my first and only language.

It's just hard to form coherent thoughts.

And I talk a lot, so most of what I say is repetitive or pointless, or just doesn't make sense.

  3. Yessss, the water... The Aiel would be confused. I was just disappointed Magellan wasn't there... But it was a very good speech. His TA was great.
  4. When listening to Shardcast has replaced the SA audio books while mowing the lawn. (I'd already read all those books about 10 times each. It was time to branch out a little. )
  5. Okay...

Why do I find this so blasted funny?

Oof, and quality picture, as usual.

    Translation:

    Summary of Warbreaker:

Vivenna: Oh no! Poor Siri! She must be so frightened and miserable right now!

(Cut to Siri dancing on a table in a crop top with Susebron while Lightsong chants SHOTS SHOTS SHOTS and Hoid belts out Don't Stop Believing on a karaoke machine in the background).

Also, I just preordered RoW! Yay!

  6. I feel like it might be a book written by Shallan, maybe detailing the war between the Alethi and the parshendi, or maybe the war between the Fused and those who joined them and the rest of Roshar. If it follows after Oathbringer in that we know the author very well. It also seems like a title Shallan would choose. I believe Brandon had mentioned in the past (Maybe in one of the live streams? Maybe?) that he'll be sticking with the titles being the titles of in-world texts that at least appear in the novel itself. It likely won't play a large role, but one of significance to one character or another in some way, I'm guessing.
  7. This is now going to pop into my head every five minutes for the rest of my life. Storming paradoxes. But I'm glad I'm now aware of this. I don't know why.
  8. Woohoo! I just pledged $50! I need to get a real job. :D

Anyone know when my chicken and I can sign up for the Chromatic Chicken Scouts? ;) (I tried to get a picture of him next to the SA, but he wouldn't hold still...)

  9. "I'm glad to be with you Samwise Gamgee. Here at the end of all things."

    Me: *cries softly*

Guys... Sam let Frodo go this time... He didn't follow... (I half expected an "I'm going into the West alone!" "I know! And I'm going with you! " exchange again).

I NEED A TOLKIEN PERSON TO TELL ME WHAT'S IN THE WEST PLEASE!

IT'S ONE IN THE MORNING AND I HAVE BEEN ON THE VERGE OF TEARS (when not actually crying) FOR THE PAST HOUR AHHHHH. THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I GET SAD I JUST TRY TO GET MORE SAD AND NOW MY GLASSES ARE COVERED IN THOSE ANNOYING SALT SPECKS.

    My soul....

(If you didn't pick up on it, I just finished the extended edition of the Return of the King. I watched it in one sitting and I'm so glad I did but MY SOUL).

But the relationships between Sam and Frodo and Merry and Pippin... Sooooooo much better than any romance ever.

Did I mention I love Aragorn?

And yes, I've seen this before, but it's been ages. (Back when I was bad at putting things together and following multiple plot lines).

And I'm really sorry for all these late night status updates written while I was half asleep and half crying.

    ...

I'm going to go read... And clean my glasses...

Gaaaaaaah! My friends and I had a LotR marathon a few weeks back, and I still feel everything you just said. I’m no expert, but I think the west is just like another continent where the elves go to be (more) immortal. Someone else might be able to tell you better.

      The bromance though...

Brief update: I stayed up for another hour and a half. I'm really tired now but I have no regrets.

@DalinarShadow Yeah... I have a pretty bad eye for color, as well as not being very strong artistically, so I didn't want to push anything too much. (I'm also, visually, a minimalist, so the simpler colors (black on white, grey on white, blue on black) appeal to me personally). Do you have any suggestions? I'd be happy to make one for you.
  11. When whenever you go on a trip you make sure to bring at least one Cosmere shirt. In this case, my MB one. Kaladin the budgie update: We are now best friends and he loves carrots and broccoli. When you use your bird's name as an excuse to tell people about him.
  12. *sigh*

    ...

    *sigh*

    I just finished Endgame.

I haven't had my heart squeezed like that since Mistborn or Warbreaker... Actually, there's no comparison there. Books generally pack a longer lasting emotional punch for me than movies, if not as intense in the moment.

    Is the Cosmere better?

    Yes.

    Was it still good?

    For sure.

    Is LotR still better?

    Yes.

    I did enjoy it.

But in all honesty, it's really weird to me how many people enjoy the MCU. Not just the sci-fi people, not just the comic book people, not just the fantasy people, everyone else too. I see how they did it. It just makes me with those people would give other things in those genres a try too.

And admit it- it's one of the weirdest cross over things ever. It's just a hodgepodge of literally everything genre wise.

I'd actually talk about this some more if I wasn't really of and if I thought i could make my brain spew make sense.

Random bird update- Kaladin ate spinach today!!!! He also went down stairs with me (his first time going down there) and rode around on my shoulder. I also have another bird now as well. He's a classic green and yellow budgie, about a year old, a little grumpy pants, and also loves riding around on my shoulder. He isn't named yet, but he might be Dragon. Because I'm really creative.

    Goodnight!

Gunna be honest, not the biggest fan of LOTR, takes way to long to get going for me. Both the movies and the books.

I'll be honest too. I only got halfway through the Two Towers. But I also tried reading all those in middle school, so I would actually be able to finish that now after reading things like tWoT.

And I see your point... But that's part of the appeal for me in all honesty. I just need to get my hands on the extended editions of the first two...

  13. When you did that 200ish pages ago and have been keeping up with it ever since.
  14. Random update on Kaladin the budgie: he is now pretty comfortable stepping up onto my finger and even hung out for a bit on my shoulder today. He is also insane, loves flying in circles, and eating paper and my hair. When you finally get a job and (after getting some much needed bird supplies) the first thing you do is go to the Brandon Sanderson store and pick out a few posters because MAPS. (Maps are cool). And... *drumroll* 148 days until RoW!!!
  15. Storms. I... Wow. Those are the most gorgeous books I've ever seen.
  16. When you have the back of the mass market paperback version of tWoK memorized and you randomly spout it off just to annoy your friends. And to yourself because it sounds storming epic. When you've read the SA so many times that you can quote really obscure lines from it if someone says a few words that remind you of said really obscure lines. When you have the following thought. Do you know what makes me happy? Doomslug. Doomslug makes me happy.
  17. I've had several Sanderson related dreams... When I was in middle school, I dreamed that he came to my school and for some reason had a signing there. I was practically the only person there. (Everything also had a really weird pinkish orange tint). I was using Lashings. Not flying. Falling through the air. It was awesome. (I don't really have dreams like that anymore. I used to dream about flying a lot. Now my dreams mostly reflect what my anxiety is currently freaking out about. I had a great one once where I could fly and I saved my elementary school from a dragon). I went to a signing, did really well in the beginning, then lost it. (Anxiety attack while talking to Brandon Sanderson. I still don't know how I feel about the fact that this is what I worry about). I know for a fact that there have been others with some Cosmere elements. My dreams are either really bizarre or terrifying, and I don't want to have a dream about the Cosmere that falls into the second category. Not fun. *shudder*
  18. When you spend a week trying to decide on the perfect Cosmere name for your new parakeet. I finally gave up a little and just named him Kaladin. (The other one is Kiwi, by the way. It took me far less time to decide on that). When you're in a huge emotional slump and all you want to do is read Alcatraz Versus the Evil Librarians.
  19. *sigh*

My other parakeet died yesterday. It's been a rough week.

So, once again, to make sure my remaining parakeet didn't get lonely, I got another one. And, once again, I need a Cosmere name.

(Also once again, not the best pictures).

I'm fairly certain this one is female, and she's super skittish. (Her wings are also clipped, unlike the other one (who I still haven't named), so I can't blame her). I was thinking about maybe naming her Siri (partly just to confuse people) or Vivenna.

    Thoughts? Ideas? Feelings? Comments? Concerns?

I've also been doing a bit of research, and I now think that they are both around two or three months old.

    1. Lunamor

      Lunamor

Oh no, I am so sorry about your parakeet! Perhaps you could name the new one Sak?

    2. Tesh

      Tesh

Okay, so i ended up naming her Kiwi. This is because I'm not very sure of her gender, and I don't want to name her something like Vivenna only to have her turn out to be male. (You can tell by the color above their beak, the cere, and Kiwi's is right between the color of a young male and a young female.) I figured Kiwi would be a good name for either a male or female.

So, yeah! Meet Kiwi! She has a very nice sounding chirp, and is getting along very well with my other bird. (Who still doesn't have a name.)

And since I'm (finally) getting a job, I have decided that I'm going to get a larger cage, expand my flock to four birds, and potentially start breeding them. I've been doing a lot of research over the past few days, and I really hope I can make that happen. (Parakeets when they are just a few weeks old are adorable).

Thanks for reading my random spewing of words!

  20. I need some advice. One of my parakeets died a few days ago, and to ensure my other one didn't get too lonely, I got another one.

(Awful picture, sorry. It's hard to take a good one one handed).

And I need a good Cosmere name!

This bird is male, and the sweetest thing in the world. Any ideas as to what I should name him?

Thanks you guys! Those are all some great names.

I have named him Kaladin and he likes the turtle from Mexico I keep on my bookshelf. (It's one of the ones where the head bobs, and he really likes messing with it).

  21. I would highly, highly, recommended watching SGN (Some Good News). You can find it on YouTube and... It's amazing.

    Go watch it.

  24. Today is my three year Shardivirsary! (I probably spelled that wrong... Fake English is hard).

I have a few things to say.

One: thanks for putting up with me. Honestly. Especially the first two years. I was a mess. I am less of a mess now, but, well, I still stink at peopleing.

Two: thanks to all of the members of The Knights of the Cosmere and the original people of TUBA. (Potato!!!) I know a few of you are gone now, but still, thanks. I have had so much fun with both of these groups. You guys are all the best.

Three: thanks to everyone else for being so storming awesome. You are all wonderful.

Four: the three year mark of the KotC is next month. I have to double check that date, but it's there.

And... 185 days until RoW! :D (Assuming I did my math correctly).
