  1. Ayalin noted Rob looking at the cat. She laughed quietly. "Do you want your cat back? "And it might take a day or two. The family I'm staying with won't mind in the long run, but they might resist a bit at the beginning."
  2. Ayalin looked down at the cat in her lap. It seemed completely unaffected by everything. "Do you think it'd be alright if I stuck around?" She asked hesitantly. "I mean, I don't want to be a bother, but... It'd be nice."
  3. Ayalin stiffened as someone sat next to her, but when he began to speak, she forced herself to relax. "You look nervous," he said. "They're all friendly. So don't worry about that. I'm Rob." Ayalin gave a small smile. "That's... Not what I'm really worried about," she said quietly. "I'm Ayalin. Aya's fine, too." She shrugged. "It's just... People. I'm never quite sure what to do." Ayalin turned from Rob, watching the people moving around. "It's so surreal," she whispered. "People like me. What we can do... It's magic, isn't it?" She winced as soon as she said it. Don't mess this up, Aya said to herself. He's being nice to you. Don't scare him away.
  4. Ayalin watched as someone lead Everest away, an uncomfortable feeling in her chest. She knew, knew, that to be accepted and to belong or to even get noticed, you had to do something to stand out. She had just always hoped that one day she'd find a place she belonged, and that they would be the ones to actually do something about it. Ayalin had thought that she'd found those people several times throughout the past several years, people with whom she belonged. Those instances had all faded away after a few weeks, leaving only a few lingering friendships, if that. The thought of getting close to these people only to have them all drift away was painful. She didn't know them, but that feeling hurt all the same. If she joined these people, she wanted them to invite her into their lives, the closest Aya could get to a guarantee that they wouldn't leave her. These people were like her, and she wasn't going to mess it up. Unless, of course, all they saw was a socially awkward girl with an overactive imagination. She didn't know what to do. She could leave, not risk the greater disappointment. Or she could try again. Ayalin let out a small sigh as she stroked the purring cat. Would they think that she had just taken over their cat? She didn't know. She couldn't read these people. It was a source of comfort, however, so she decided not to push it off her lap. If they wanted it back, all they would need to do is ask. Or look at the cat for a long time. She doubted that this time would be much different, but she could hope. Aya would wait and see what happened.

    Storm it.

I just finished rereading Secret History.

    Storm it.

I rusting love all those characters.

And hey, check out my album that I made with Cosmere wallpapers! (They actually turned out a lot better than I thought they would going into all that, which is the only reason i mention it at all).

My brain has literally been running off books for the past week, so I'm in a weird place right now. Please excuse excessive randomness and disjointed-ness. I should be half human again soon. (No idea what the other half is, though. Maybe Hoid). You guys are great! Thanks for bearing with me. :)

  10. Well... It's midnight now, so it's technically the 19th... (If anyone askes, I wasn't up this late. Again).

Well, today is the three year mark of when I bought my first Brandon Sanderson book, The Way of Kings. Three. Rusting. Years. I know this because i found the receipt in a bag about two years ago, and I have a really good memory for random dates.

I'm also pretty sure I started reading the book that day, although I'm not certain about that. But I got it from a B&N in Salt Lake. That particular B&N is now closed.

I honestly don't know where I'm going with this.

Well, reading tWoK really got me out of a reading slump I was going through at the time, and inspired me to start writing again.

I am now a full blown Sanderfan and I feel like my mind is infested with spren that randomly put random thoughts relating to random Sanderson books in my head at completely random times.

Those spren are my friends, though.

(I'm tired. This is weird. And very disjointed and random. I'm going to wrap it up).

I am incredibly grateful for these books, as they have really given me perspective... on everything, if we're being honest. They are the reason i am who I am today, for good or bad, I really don't know at this point.

Thank you all for putting up with me for these last three years! (Three years on the 16th, actually).I

Oh, and next month is mental health awareness month, so be expecting a post from me for that soon. (Get your green profile pictures ready)!

  11. Ayalin twitched as a cat jumped from the backpack of one of the newcomers, but at the sight of the animal she relaxed. She bent forward, stretching a hand out towards the cat, who padded over and rubbed its head against her hand. Aya let herself smile a little, petting the cat. It was purring softly, eyes closed. A moment later it jumped onto Aya's lap where it pawed at her leg for a moment before laying down. Ayalin continued petting it, genuinely beginning to relax. She almost asked what it's name was, but decided against it. She didn't need to know its name to enjoy its company.

    I ACTUALLY UNDERSTAND STUFF NOW!!!

I first read the Mistborn books in seventh grade, and, well, didn't fully grasp it all or know too much about the Cosmere besides Hoid, Shards, and realmatic theory.

    I just finished rereading tBoM.

And it all makes sense and that book crushed me.

I intended to go to bed an hour and a half ago, then an hour later I was crying for several reasons, then half an hour later I was internally screaming.

Well, I'm off to reread AU BECAUSE I UNDERSTAND NOW. Or maybe sleep. That could work too.

I remember starting tAoL at the 7th grade dance, so I will always know the anniversary of my starting E2: Valentine’s Day

I remember reading tHoA under my desk during sixth grade family life... And reading tBoM while in line for a signing in seventh.

  13. Ayalin started, hand flying to her pocket for her coins and burning iron again. Then the people started saying hi, and her hand dropped limply back into her lap. Aya pushed herself up into the corner of the couch, tense, staying silent. Was that blood? How has they gotten into the room like that? Her gaze darted nervously from one face to the next, and she wasn't feeling so excited anymore. All those new people all at once... They were all looking at Everest, yes, but it was only a matter of moments until one of them spoke to her.
