It’s natural to be unsure, myself I’ve been questioning whether I’m aromantic for years now...I’m glad talking about it makes you feel better though! -

The Wind's Pleasure (Piano Solo) - Work In Progress

I haven’t read Words of Radiance yet and I don’t know whether that makes my feedback more or less helpful, but somehow this song made me think of a flashback sequence? Like it starts out with someone (Tozbek?) in old age, looking at their ship wistfully and thinking about younger days when they went on adventures at sea. Then in the middle it flashes back to that youth, showing all the adventures and thrills they had. Then at the end it goes back to the present, where the person is now too old to go on adventures like that anymore, and they’re slightly sad but ultimately at peace with it. I don’t know how much that actually matches with what’s in the book or what you were going for, but this was really beautiful! I’d definitely also be interested in sheet music. -

absolutely I haven’t kept up with RWBY since season 4 but that makes me interested in picking it up again, I’m a sucker for stuff about what happens after the heroic story. Maybe I’ll find the time this summer. -
These are beautiful, thank you for sharing them.

Heyo! I’m ace and (romantically) kind of lesbian, kind of aro (I dunno it’s in between somewhere). For queer rep the Broken Earth trilogy by N. K. Jemisin is great- between the main characters there’s a gay man, a trans woman in a gay relationship, a bi/pan woman, and a polyamorous relationship (maybe more I’m not remembering). I loved how queerness was just treated as a normal, everyday thing in that world, often people didn’t react to it as anything out of the ordinary and to read that in a fantasy book was so lovely. Also the series is just fantastic. Also, not fantasy but I just finished Red, White, and Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston, a gay romance story, the other day and it wrecked my life. The author is queer too (bi and nonbinary) so that’s always great! -
Dreams about Cosmere/Sanderson

A compilation of all the words of Brandon in print form, perhaps? I’d read that -
Strangely enough, despite me reading mostly fantasy and most of my favorite books being fantasy, my all time favorite is actually historical fiction- Salt to the Sea by Ruta Sepetys. Way of Kings came REALLY close to dethroning it though. Also, thanks for the advice everyone! I do wish a bit that I’d gotten to read through the rest of the Cosmere before Stormlight, but I’m excited to reread Stormlight after getting through everything else and gaining a new understanding of it then.

I’m at around halfway, after Vivenna talks to the forgers. Is there anything else besides Warbreaker I should read before continuing on with Stormlight?

Ha, maybe! Nice profile pic by the way -
This afternoon I took a nap and dreamed that I was at the Rhythm of War release party. It was in a room like a movie theater, completely dark except a projected screen at the front, except way bigger than a normal movie theater, and for some reason Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson (along with multiple other celebrities I can't remember) were there. They projected the Rhythm of War cover up on the screen and it was awful. It had a real life picture of a lady in a brown and yellow dress and had "Rhythm of War" in that default cursive script you find on every computer, and each word of the title was a different color (also browns and yellows) to make it legible against the different colors in the picture background, but it was still weird and hard to read. It really looked terrible. I remember thinking "Why didn't they choose a different background image than that real life one?" and then chiding myself, thinking the designers knew much more about this than I did. This is the closest approximation I can make of it (it looks like a regency romance lolll) Brandon went up to do a little talk and he made a joke about what would happen if the fae hypothetically attacked the audience for some reason and used puppets (?) to make his point. It was kind of funny at first but then he kept going with it and made it into this weird extended metaphor, and it got awkward as people were like "how long is he going to keep going with this..." After that I realized my phone was low battery and left the room to go get a charger, and the rest of the dream shifted to something different. What other funny or interesting dreams about Sanderson stuff have you guys had?

Yeah, I started going through the Stormlight forums from before 2014 to look at discussion while avoiding Words of Radiance spoilers, which kind of worked but there was still a lot of stuff about cosmere connections I didn't understand haha

Here's my crazy theory: I think Doomslug can talk, like actually talk and not just repeat what she hears. Brandon said that Doomslug is more intelligent than an animal if not as intelligent as a human, and lots of animals, like parrots, whales, and gorillas, can learn spoken or sign language and actually carry on rudimentary conversations with you. There was also that moment in Starsight where Spensa said "By who?" and Doomslug said "Whom!" as if correcting her, implying an understanding of language beyond just repeating sounds. The reason she hasn't talked so far is to avoid showing the extent of her abilities to Spensa, the same way she never teleports when Spensa's looking at her, but this may change in the future where she'll decide to start talking. Doomslug might not be able to talk at the level of a human adult but I think it's likely she could have conversations with the main characters, and this might be a source of information about how to use the slugs for FTL and M-Bot's origin (assuming she came to Detritus with M-Bot). What do you guys think?

Any chance we could hear the nicknames? I'd want mine to be Styx. Maybe a little too dramatic but I just love mythology. Everyone when I say it out loud: "Your callsign is Sticks?" Me: "No, S-t-y-x" Everyone: "Whatever you say Sticks"
