  1. Both of those might help a bit, especially Adolin perceiving Maya as a sapient spren, not a weapon (because spren are susceptible to perception). But that's not all. Adolin simply swearing Edgedancer's ideals won't bring Maya back. That's not enough. What I believe is happening here is that Adolin and Maya are forming a reverse Nahel Bond. In normal Nahel Bond a Knight has cracks in his soul, which are filled by his spren, strengthening his soul. This is the opposite. Maya has a crack in her soul, the result of BAM imprisonment that ripped a connection from Roshar and all its life, and now Adolin's soul is filling that crack, strengthening Maya in the process. Maya is the Knight here. In this case it's Adolin who is willing to bond, to help, to make her whole again. Adolin learning and seeing Maya as a spren in OB, not as a weapon, helped to start that process - but he did more, he cared for her during that time in CR, talked to her, and was with her - creating a stronger bond between them. And I think we already had confirmation that this is the case, RoW ch 94:
  2. As far as I know, on Yolen two types of life existed - Earth-like life with humans, and Fain life with Sho Del and Dragons. Fain life creates a hostile ecosystem for humans. Those might be the two lands mentioned by Hoid. Plus a distant place fits Yolen, as currently it is hidden and almost unaccesible to anyone in the Cosmere. Not only Adonalsium was worshiped as a god, dragons and Aethers were and are also worshiped as such. Some of them might have died. But there are WoBs kind of confirming that Hoid was talking about Yolen:
  3. Did you ever have something really important to do and you just didn't want to stop watching cat videos, get off the couch and start doing that thing? With a bit of determination, you would just do it! Determination would be a great tool for daily applications, to somebody doing the same work every day, to keep training regularly, and also for somebody like a scientist/inventor to be more determined to find a solution to a problem he's facing - things that wouldn't be shown that much on pages of the book, rather just mentioned that they had happened in between two chapters. But in combat applications? Not so much, unless you're stuck in the trenches of WW1. Electrum would be useful for a coinshot with fear of heights. And to be motivated to train, but conishoters usually just love being in the air, so that's not a problem for them.
  4. In this case I was talking about what a body can naturally do. Human body can fix a bullet wound, grow a tissue or patch a bone - you're storing general health, which is later used to fasten natural processes of your body to heal all wounds. But Kandra's body can't grow a bone, so no matter of healing - there are no natural mechanisms in their body that grow a bone, their body just can't grow bone nor metal nor crystal. But of course, my next paragraph was refuting this idea.
  5. Bind them with Oaths? I have no idea what you want to achieve with this.
  6. Nah, I don't care that much, I just found dates to be funny.
  7. That was 4 months ago. Almost to the day. The WoB specifically said "He'd have to burn metals a LOT though. It might warp him a little." - that's savantism or at least on the very edge of savantism. A blind person has to burn a lot of Atium to learn how to percive Atium shadows before he would be able to see them. And you become a savant by burning a lot of metal, this warps you soul. You said the same thing that I said but longer
  8. Why copper? From all metals you chose copper? And you want to compound it? There are literally 15 more useful metals for Kandra than copper, because the Blessing of Presence already gives them incredible memory. And the Blessing of Presence is copper spikes but they don't give him A-copper or any other metallic ability! It's just a Blessing. He would need another, different spike, separate from copper to grant this (a bronze spike). Plus another spike that grants copper feruchemy (brass), and another one to give iron feruchemy (pewter). In total, 5 spikes. That's of course using standard ways of acquiring powers, which for now is the only one they know, which might not work like for humans, but lets assume it would work for Kandra the same way (no Trellium). Medallions are more restrictive than normal Feruchemy, and they have an identity of their own. I wouldn't be surprised at all if you can't compound with medallions in the current form. If in Hemalurgy identity prevents compounding, than medallions with self-identity should also prevent this. 90 kg for a fully copper human skeleton. Heavy. It might not be possible for Kandra to heal bones. F-gold is storing health, your body's health. Kandra's body can't produce bones. hair or carapace. They have to take it from somewhere else. This means that their body has no health to store regarding bones/hair, and might not be able to heal those parts even if they have the right self-perception. Kandra are limited by what their body can naturally produce. But on the other hand, if a human can heal into a Parshendi, full with carapace and gemheart, despite the fact that the human body can't produce those things, then why can't Kandra heal their bones with the right self-perception?
  9. Ok, they can, but I fail to see the reason why? Why would Kandra want to have ludicrously heavy bones?
  10. Let's not exaggerate. Not every bone. Few bone replacements wouldn’t harm you in any way - it's no different than prosthetics nowadays. Please, keep in mind that we're on the Mistborn forum, that's why when writing about non-Mistborn books, or answering to somebody about other Cosmere works, like in this case SA, put a spoiler box and inform before it which books are you talking about inside that box. It's to avoid spoiling books for people who haven't read all of Cosmere yet. Edit: SA spoilers:
  11. Their names are their intents. Cultivation's intent is Cultivation, Honor's intent is Honor, Endowment's intent is Endowment etc. That's it. But what it means in practice? For Cultivation it's about growing and changing, not matter if it's for good or evil, it's just about growth. For Honor it's about oaths, not matter if good oaths, or bad, just to keep them (that's what Odium and Stormfather said). Endowment is about giving with no strings attached (WoB was about it). Odium is about hatred, but also is redefined as Passion, which is about emotions (by Venli's world mostly bad ones, no loving, caring etc). Shards like Mercy, Ambition, Invention, Valor or Whimsy work similarly, these names are their intents, but in practise we don't really know anything more about them than their Intents (except for Ambition, which is dead and Splintered). Now I see, intents into words. Ok, I get it. So it's about what in the second paragraph. And have some WoBs about it:
  12. Or, you know, just put them fully inside your body. If you need a big metalmind you can just replace your bone with it. TLM spoilers:
  13. That's how I understood it. It will work, but you need a lot of it which would make it very impractical. It's easier to just piece your skin with your metalminds (or in case of WoB have a fully aluminum gun). I think aluminum is mostly a US thing, while the rest of the world says aluminium. In Polish it's aluminium as well, thanks to you guys i nearly forgot about it
  14. I'm not talking about Urithiru now. But yes, devoiding the air around bombers will make them drop (which can be salvageable if they drop below the vacuum back into the air). But bombing formations were enormous. The smallest unit containing several planes was called combat box, which could span (depending on numbers and type of planes) 2,440 ft (740 m) wide and 700 ft (210 m) vertically, but only 320 ft (98 m) deep, but the entire bombing raid could be the size of 70 miles long and 5-6 miles wide (for ~500-600 bombers) - but Feb 3 1945 raid on Berlin contained 2500 planes and was 360 miles long. You need a lot of Windrunners to drain the area so large out of the air - and most of the planes would just change directions and go around or to secondary targets. Info from google/wiki, don't trust me on that.
  15. Vast majority of WW2 planes weren't pressurized. B29 was pressurized but they of course have oxygen masks as well. Decompression won't work on them. B17 could fly 4k feet higher than B29 and it wasn't pressurized at all. It does change a lot when you can't punch a hole with a Shardblade. Plus WW2 was the first time jet planes were introduced, with speeds of 600 km/h - ~1000 km/h (mach ~0.8) - Windrunners might be fast, but planes can be fast as well. And before you say anything, yes, Windrunners are more maneuverable than planes.
  16. You monster! #RobotsAreAlive! #ProtectRobotLife! #StopSpikingRobots! That's a good one, again. The question is if connection is all that's needed for soulstamp to last for a moment? Would forging a robot to "become" a human isn't too much? I think a simple connection might not be enough because they're drastically different. And connections are different. In the case of the Emperor's Soul novel, everybody in the palace had some connection to the emperor, but only one person, his close friend, was able to test his soul stamps. He had a more specific connection to the emperor than anybody else had. Plus they both had a set of existing connections to the land, country and people around them. Those might be connections which are needed here. Can you give a robot those kinds of connections? Would the fact that he is a robot make those connections not enough for soulstamps, because of their vastly different physiology, and spirit web full of different connections?
  17. Yeah, I'm not so sure about lineage after Vivenna said "the holy calling of Austre" as another reason. Perception is likely what matters here the most. Collective perception is also a good point.
  18. I've found the WoB saying aluminum alloys retain some properties of aluminum, which might mean that normal planes are able to resist a Shardblade cut.
  19. It might also be the case of perception - Mistborn who sees metalminds covered with aluminum as a single object won't be able to pull/push on them, but if he's skillful enough to perceive it as many different parts combined together (like when spinning a metal bar), then he can differentiate between aluminum covered part and non aluminum covered one, and pull/push on them. But I've found the answer. It depends on how thick is aluminum - with a very thick layer (thicker than a gun barrel), a Mistborn would still be able to push/pull uncovered parts of metalminds:
  20. Oh Radar is a good one. I would say Detective for A-tin + F-zinc combo.
  21. That's not about hemalurgic spikes being flexible, that's about the fact that you can steal certain traits from animals/people and spike them into an individual to make him change the form into something animal-like - likely what Chimeras are. Having Hemalurgic spikes shouldn't just give your soul flexibility - your soul is damaged now and pierced in all 3 realms. Take a fabric and stretch it, then nail that fabric and stretch it again - the holes made by nails will now widen and damage the fabric more and nails themself will limit the way fabric can be stretched. Yes, the "specific set of circumstances" is about a person becoming a Singer. But this has wider consequences - it's about a person changing their form beyond what their current form is capable of. Human changing into a singer is almost equally as hard as Kandra changing into a dog while having human bones. Kandra's form is tied to the bones they wear. That's why I said this also applies to Kandra. While the "specific set of circumstances" might mean a very hard to achieve levels of self-perception (plus stuff like attracting spren, hearing rhythms in the case of human changing into a singer, which doesn't matter in our case of Kandra) or might be something a bit more - what? I don't know. But Kandra normally can't shapeshift to a dog form while wearing human bones, giving him healing might overcome that, or something else might be needed. Both options are possible. You've already admitted that Brandon didn't say that, and that's extrapolation on your part. The unique edge is about self-perception, which Cognitive Shadows suffers a lot from, as they are susceptible to not only their self-perception, but also perception of other people - like Kelsier feeling pain because he thinks that's what he should feel, or sprens/Returned being influenced by thoughts of other people. Kandra would be better at adapting to this environment, not necessarily changing shape at will, but this will help them shapeshifting as well. The best way to explain what Brandon was meaning about "mental training, someone else could learn this" is Warbreaker spoiler WoB: This is what people can achieve (with the use of some investiture - not healing). Not changing shapes to look like someone else, but looking a bit taller, older, different hair color, but they are always themself. Hoid does it. But normally, people can't just become someone else. Kandra are better at it - they can change bones and look like someone else. Kandra has mental training on self-perception that hardly any can rival. Now add healing to a person who is already a master of self-perception. If mastering your self-perception is the "a specific set of circumstances" and "do some real work on your Spiritweb", then you can do a lot with healing. Kandra has much easier to become masters of self-perception, because of their nature, and they would be able to do even more with their body - like changing into an animal form while having human bones. But if this is not it and there is something else needed for very drastic changes to the body, which I'm talking about (not simply gaining more muscles), then I don't know what it can be. I don't even arguing that this is the case, I'm just presenting different possibilities as they are, to make discussion more interesting. Remember, Kandra can't shapeshift at will, they need bones. It might be another option to consider, because bones have different identity and connections than Kandra, self-perception doesn't work on them, and Kandra can't include them as part of themself, and you can't "heal" them into bones of someone else, or something else (like changing bones of a human into bones of some animal). Identity might prevent it. A person wanting to change his form into a Singer form can do it, because his bones are his. But this is another option to consider. It might not be the case because of transplantation and healing: I believe "the situation" mentioned in the WoB is if the person views the transplanted organ as a part of his body, or sees it as someone else's body - which would mean Kandra can perceive bones they're wearing as part of themself and change form into an animal one with lots of healing (which would change their bones as well). Now I'm realizing that when I was writing this: I literally thought that you want a Kandra to turn into an animal, like a dog, not just in the physical form they have, but mentally and spiritually as well. Just fully turning into a dog. I should stop and think if that even makes sense. My brain doesn't work today... Now I don't really have any point to show, it just fun discussion, so I'm arguing for the sake of arguing right now
  22. Is that this WoB? It doesn't say that they can shapeshift at will, just that they would be better at being a Cognitive Shadow than humans (like Kel feeling pain, a Kandra would quickly stop perceive themself that way) The same thing applies to Kandra. You need invested healing ability, a lot of investiture (that's why in the WoB it's about entering a Highstorm) and a specific self-perception, plus possibly something more, and this would change their body beyond what it is currently able to do. No? Why? Source? That might be that “something else” - having bones to trick your mind into accepting a different self-perception. As long as TenSoon wears dog bones, he won't change into a human after tapping gold. And tbf what is an ideal physical form of Kandra? There isn't something like that, they're ideal form might be shifted to the bones they're wearing.
  23. I don't know, WoBs say about "a specific set of circumstances" and "do some real work on your Spiritweb", so there might be something more to it than just self-perception and tons of health, or it is just very hard to have such different self-perception to turn into an animal or some hybrid. But with some less ambitious cases, this will work. Plus being highly invested would help with that too: SA spoilers WoB:
  24. Right, I get it now. This might work, but in the same way it will work for any person who isn't a Kandra. A normal person also should grow muscles if he views himself as muscular, and have lots of health to draw. Kandra has an advantage over them, as he can think easier in that way, and can shape his body normally, but a regular person can still do that per WoBs below. Warbreaker spoiler: SA spoilers WoBs:
  25. Maybe? If flesh forgery affects only the body. But Koloss will look like a human but their mind won't be changed at all.
