Blasphemy (joke). But they look like waves, or raindrops - Mistspren vibes for me - that's Truthwatchers, who are scholars and would concentrate a lot. You made me look at colors, Skybreaker's glyph is gray, Starspren are gray, from coppermind: "Pinpricks of light dot the starspren's ashen carapace." Now I think it's irrefutable that Skybreaker's platespren are Starspren.

I know. But this doesn't mean it has to be connected with SIlverlight. Both Ghostbloods and 17th Shard (likley) aren't from SIlverlight. It's far more likely this is about Sel: But I doubt it. It would be really dangerous, it has to be something more accessible for everyone with right knowledge to do that (something that would work when they are on mission - if there was some kind of device where they need to sit in, Khriss would be dead by this time): If they can send post by reading connection, why not slow down aging by manipulating connection? I think that the most sensible option: Yes.

Why do you think there is any time dilation in Silverlight? If you would lose so much time in Silverlight I doubt it would be such a hub like it is now, as every time you go there you would have to say goodbye to your family outside. Just because some people are ageless, doesn't mean that it has to do something with Silverlight. Members of 17th Shard or Ghostbloods are ageless, and they aren't from Silverlight. Silverlight is a massive city, full of universities and even dragons - massive time dilation would simply isolate it from Cosmere.

Stonewards are people who "will stand where others fall". I think it's more important that Singer's Warform comes from the bond with Painspren, and the order of Stonewards is traditionally infantry and the frontline troops, composed of the finest soldiers. They are dependable but also stubborn to the point of taking on projects larger than themselves. They are proud to be associated with Taln, and he withstood 4500 years of torture without breaking. That's why I think Painspren are their platespren.

We know that the last Shard's intent is related to Wisdom, and it now thinks survival isn't the best outcome: We know that the "survival Shard's" intent isn't directly connected to survival And that Prudence sounds like a Shard name: Based on that I think it's pretty fair to assume that the last Shard's intent is closely related to Wisdom (not necessarily named Wisdom) and it used to be the Survival Shard. Ferocity has nothing to do with either wisdom or survival tbf.

I doubt it. If that was the case Vasher would know this. And you don't break light into a rainbow at lower Heightenings even just a little, that happens only when you reach 10th Heightening. Similarly you can't detect if an object is invested before 7th Heightening, nor you can't Awaken with your voice without a touch before 8th - not everything is scalable. Warbreaker ch 51: SP3 spoilers: But Awakened Object and an Awaken Construct (you mean like Lifeless) are Awaken in the same way: investiture + command + intent = some sapience + self-awareness. Fabrials don't have that. You don't need command or intent, you don't get self-awareness or any level of sapience in the entire fabrial. Spren themself might have that, but this doesn't extend to the entire fabrial. Awakened Construct can do almost everything, fabrial can do just one thing. Fabrials are even further from constructs than they are from objects.

Can Kelsier be killed by a silver sword?
alder24 replied to AustereGodOfColors!'s question in Cosmere Q&A
Trapped in a silver box, I doubt it (most likely it would kill him), but he likely can be trapped in an aluminum box. Silver has the property of killing/destroying investiture, and Shades from Threnody are Cognitive Shadows, just like Kelsier is. I bet it would kill him. -
Odium forces, Fused and Unmades shouldn't have that as well. That doesn't work for me at all. That's very second handed connections. True, that's why she and the Black Fisher are so hard.
-
Yeah, that's what I needed. True, but I would rather point out inversion - Dustbringers master self-control, why Nerhaoul makes people lose their control. Inversions are the biggest clues. Not convinced on that one. Elsecallers fits too - the order attracts leaders and are great tacticians, wisdom and carefulness are great attributes of a leader, and whatever Mishram did to connect herself to all Singers wasn't something she was able to do before - that suggest scholarly nature and that she improved herself (just what Elsecallers do). I'm not arguing Mishram is with Elsecallers, just pointing out alternatives with weak arguments.

I'm reading The Stormlight Archive for the first time
alder24 replied to Amira's topic in Stormlight Archive
Every time you speculate or ask questions like that you make me grin -
Why? All of them why? I see one, maybe two fitting. Skybreakers aren't numb, that's Nale. Skybreakers start not trusting in their judgment, but end up becoming the law - their 4th Ideal is a personal crusade, something very emotional. I think even Nale said at one point that they shouldn't be as emotionless as he is. Dustbringers are about self control. Nergaoul fits as losing control. Edgedancess and Sja-Anat? Why? Moelach fits more with Trustwatchers - Fortune is related, and he is related to madness as "he scratches in the mind of Jezrien".

In terms of allomancy, could you act upon shardplate with a push or pull?
alder24 replied to Ookla de los Cuervos's question in Cosmere Q&A
Maybe with duralumin, but not with a normal. Rashek-level steel push: -
Sorry but I've failed my "Glyphology 101" class, In the future could you at least point direction? But yes, the right, red symbol is the same as Kharbranth's one. Interesting. And I definitely wasn't staring at the left, purple symbol for 5 minutes wondering how on storms are they similar. And they are inside the gemstone. Curious. BAM can be one of them. We know that Re-Shephir was trapped in a gemstone in the past and now the Thrill is trapped too. And there is a connection between Voidbinding and Unmades. What if the Sibling is another one in the gemstone? They were nearly unmade into 10th Unmade, she has a literal heart made out of gems, and I bet she could still bond with a person and grant him something. Right and left middle ones? If you look at other connections they tend to sometimes be behind the big, yellow "lightning" connections - I think that's what is happening with those two. They are there but behind because of artistic reasons. 2 is as far away from symmetry of 3 as 4.

Thematically appropriate Radiant Twinborn Combinations
alder24 replied to Hatman's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Yes. Split second. But I guess in that time you could accelerate to ridiculous speeds (but not in the atmosphere, friction would kill them). However G-forces affect Windrunners, so they would be killed. -

alder24 replied to Ookla de los Cuervos's question in Cosmere Q&A
Scadrial is a low investiture world compared to Roshar - this means that average Mistborn wields very low amounts of investiture than what Radiant with Stormlight can have. You can't push Shardplate/Shardblade, not with regular Allomancy, not with Lerasium-level Allomancy, not with Rashek-level Allomancy. Shardblades/Shardplates are so highly invested that you would need something comparable to holding the power of the Well of Ascension to push them. Even burning steel with duralumin wouldn't work on Shardplate/Shardblades. -
Thanks, that was it. I thought it was somewhere in WoK or WoR. You will still need 9th Heightening to Awaken any piece of metal, no matter the cost (and I think no matter the type of investiture you're using). Including fabrics or cloth in your object will lower the cost of Awakening (the closer the object is to life the cheaper it is to Awaken), but as long as you Awaken any metal piece, you need to have 20k Breaths (it won't cost 20k, Nightblood cost 1k). Number of Breaths needed for Awakening isn't a problem here, you need to be very invested to Awaken metal/stone. SP3 spoilers I did, in a spoiler box In my opinion no, they are different. Awakened object is something that was brought to life by investing it and it is doing some work on its own. Fabrials (magi tech) are a bit different. Fabrials aren't closer to life, don't have some bits of sentience/sapience, no Command or Intent. Fabrials are a step below Awakened objects. Fabial is a thing fueled by investiture that replicates magic.

Oh boy. I've been spending so much time on the forum writing in English, that I have troubles remembering Polish terms All literal translations: Voidlight - Pustowe Światło Lifelight - Życiowe Światło Towerlight - Wieżowe Światło Honorblade - Ostrze Honoru Shardblade - Ostrze Odprysku Shardplate - Pancerz Odprysku Shardbearer - Odpryskowy (plural Odpryskowi) (translated by the same rules as Windrunner is, but I've no idea how this word would literally translate to English. This word exists in Polish, it's an adjective of the noun "odprysk" (shard) but in the context of the book it's a made-up word, just like Wiatrowy etc.) Knights Radiant - Świetliści rycerze (singular form: Świetlisty Rycerz) Surgebinders - Mocowiązcy (moc = power, so it's "power binders") Oaths are as close to English as possible, literal translations, they all mean the same as in English, no weird choices were made here. I don't know why I gave them to you, when for you "it's some kind of elvish" 1st Ideal - Życie ponad śmiercią, siła ponad słabością, podróż ponad celem. Kal's 2nd Ideal - Będę chronił tych, którzy nie mogą ochronić się sami Kal's 3rd Ideal - Będę chronił nawet tych, których nienawidzę. Dopóki to właściwe. Kal's 4th Ideal - Akceptuję to, Ojcze Burz. Akceptuję, że będą tacy, których nie będę mógł ochronić! No ketek from Polish titles: The Way of Kings - Droga królów Words of Radiance - Słowa światłości Oathbringer - Dawca przysięgi Rythm of War - Rytm wojny Edgedancer - Tancerka krawędzi Dawnshard - Odprysk świtu Edit: Yes, those words in Polish are the same as in English.

"Prawdziwe Spustoszenie" - literal translation.

We have 2 WoBs saying that a Shardblade can theoretically kill a spren. That means there are sets of specific circumstances needed for it to happen. The second WoB said "hat isn't necessarily going to kill either of them" and because the word "necessarily" it means there are circumstances where a Shardblade can kill a spren. Those 2 WoBs said the same thing. Read them again please. We have a book showing something happened to a spren struck by a Shardblade, without explicitly telling us what that was. It was speculated by Syl that they killed a spren, she even asked if they kill a spren, because she didn't know what happened. That wasn't any kind of confirmation. It simply wasn't a retcon by definition. Yes, retcons happens, just not here.

Kaladin is a spearman, trained with a spear and instinctively knows how to fight with it. He is connected with spears spiritually. Spear is one of the most versatile weapons in history, in many cases better than a sword (swords are very overrated, they were secondary weapons, not primary). While lances or pikes would be a good choice for air to ground or air to air engagements, they are different from a spear, much longer and balanced differently - he can fight with them, but his instincts might fail him. It’s simply easier for Kaladin to fight with a spear, and he is far more dangerous with them than with a lance. I don't think Kaladin preferring the spear over other weapons has to do something with his Lighteyes vs Darkeyes conflict. He uses weapons that fit the combat situation he's in, he is changing spear for other weapons, which was most obvious in his fight with Szeth in WoR, but his default weapon is the spear.

Kalad's Phantoms are type 3 Awakened stone statue with Lifeless bones inside of them. You can do that: I can be wrong here, I remember some description of a fabrial with wires entering it, can't find it, but I've found this, contradicting me,OB ch 33:
-
If a goal is just to mimic Fabrials with Awakening, I think that's considerably easier - build a machine/fabrial, place a gemstone, Awaken it with proper command (you don't need sentience), and infuse the gemstone with Stormlight - Awakened machine will now be a computer where Awakening is the programming (replacing the spren), and gemstone infused with Stormlight is the fuel. It will work as long as Stormlight is in the gemstone, but Breaths themself will never run out. Per WoB I've posted above "The way magic from Nalthis works, for example, the system is just looking for any available Investiture to power itself." This kind of design will likely allow us to use very advanced Commands and effects, as long as there is fuel. But 9th Heightenings would likely be needed. I think it depends on what it does. In most cases you would likely need to Awaken everything, gem and what's attached to it, for it to work. Possibly if you want something a bit more complicated, you might be able to Awaken just a part of it, that will act like a brain, like a programming - but it's hard to tell. Tress spoilers: I think that's the case - the whole Urithiru glows in CR. Iirc there are wires that enter a gemstone - that means gemstones are drilled or cut, they are no longer perfect. But if you Awaken the whole thing, you can have a perfect gemstone in it and it would be considered a part of the Awakened machine, therefore it would feed on Stormlight that's inside of it.

Nothing was changed, nothing was revised. We had 2 possibilities, either spren got killed or not, and RoW gave us the answer. If you consider this a retcon then the reveal that the Shardbearer killed by Kaladin in WoK is Shallan's brother would be a retcon.
