  1. So what you are saying is that if your character dies you don't need to work your way all they way back up, but you can't lead the guild until you have a character in that spot again? I could get behind this so long as there is a reasonable waiting period from when your character dies till you can create a new one to insert it in. I said that you should have to work your way back up as a waiting period, but if this period is long enough I think that it would accomplish the same thing.
  2. I would have to disagree with that. For a channeler to be fair they need to have either serious mental blocks like Nynaeve or be incredebly weak and niche like androl. Channelling is incredibly over powered. It wasn’t designed as a Sanderson magic system, which all follow similar rules. To put this in perspective, a mid level combat ready channeler could easily take on mistborn, awakeners, feruchemists, sand masters, most KR, and maybe elantrians. Definately fjordell monks and forgers. Channelers have loads of range and a Ton of opportunities to control any fight. If your channeler has access and decent training in basic weaves they can take on most forms of investiture. Theres a reason why the white tower had all of their channelers swear oaths to never use their powers to hurt another person, a rouge channeler could be nearly unstoppable.
  3. We do indeed have an incredibly complicated ranking system. In fact, it’s so complicated that no body understands it except for the head of the ranking department. Unfortunately he disappeared a few years ago when an accidental black hole was formed inside of a cookie he was eating, so as of now we are kind of lost.
  4. I’m not completely back from my hiatus, but here are a few things that I think should be noted. Try to keep to canon or roughly canon based abilities. Things get weird when you create new abilities that no one knows about. They definitely have the potential to be unbalanced, really the only limit on those abilities is what the other players are willing to tolerate. From what I’ve seen, other players don’t really like to tell someone no, even if they are being OP. Make sure that you understand the abilities that your character has and how they accessed those abilities. Characters with hemalurgy have to be OK with having a little piece of a soul of someone else inside of them. Characters with different investiture systems should understand that you would need connection to 2 different shards for that to happen. That doesn’t come easily. An example of this from the reckoners RP was that there were loads of epics with teleportation powers. Then someone found a wob that said teleportation was not really that common. Suddenly they had a bunch of characters that while they didn’t break canon, they shouldn’t have existed. When they paid attention to how common their characters powers were, it changed a lot of how they should RP their characters.
  5. Uncle Brandy celebrated by pulling egg nog out of his pocket and chugging it. When He was done, he looked around for a hammer, broke the fourth wall, and shouted "Page 200! Only 49 pages to go!"
  6. I think the key is less in terms of what investiture people have per say, and how people RP the characters. Even a tin misting can be over powered if you RP it a certain way. I think that there are a few things that could easily be fixed though, the different types of investiture and use of hemalurgy among them. Honestly I have very hard time seeing how anyone with a nahel bond can get along with Hemalurgists and Ghostbloods. Like these are people who are essentially paid to break the first oath, Life before Death. Also, the amount of people with hemalurgy don't act like they were hemalurgists, willing to kill people for power. I think that it should be possible to have multiple powers, but that if you do have them you really need to take it to heart and understand what it would take for those multiple powers to happen. And your characters should reflect that. Of course, Ookla the Lurker does have a point, and that that not all investiture systems were created equal, but I think that that shouldn't be an issue if we successfully move it away from PvP. Finally, I think that we should sort through all the items on the list before making the next transition, not just changing this.
  7. Whew. OK.
  8. I'm only good for these on Rules of warfare like threads. But sure I'll do them, I don't think I'm active enough to do all of them though.
  9. Gosh dangit Sudiov. I bet you he's also responsible for the FDA saying spiked goods aren't safe to eat.
  10. I added the plague and other ideas that have been tossed around for the end of ERA 2. I think that's all.
  11. Well you see, that moon is causing tides, which are really annoying when trying to launch boats on sub-par ramps. So I do have a reason to destroy the moon.
  12. Actually I recognize that I am a part of the problem in creating OP characters. I am a large reason that this issue exists and that's why I am actually supporting getting rid of OP characters as a whole. I thought that I was implying that I would abide by those rules by trying to create them. If that wasn't obvious then let this be my official statement that I will abide by any restrictions OP characters have. I have been trying to do that consistently and with the exception of the GB ball always make sure that I have approval of a mod before intervening. And I try to make sure that the mod is wearing the mod hat when I ask them. Until we iron out the rules for the whole situation, is there anything else that I should do?
  13. So lets look at this. Here's a quick list of what I think has been mentioned about getting done: Guild reform We've looked at: Making things more public Limiting the armies that people can summon similarly with the resources Increasing their day to day activity Removal of power creep I mentioned something about getting rid of the dieties. Someone talked about making characters more realistic in terms of what they have and can do. There was talk about a point system. This also ties into a refocusing of the RP into less fighting. Less PvP and more of other stuff. How to improve peoples experience This is kind of divided into 2 areas, planning organization Making things more sanderson oriented (less sci-fi) Brief talk of government End of the Era Plague/ disease War between OP characters I think that that was everything that has been discussed and needs to be worked on. Anything else that people wanna add?
  14. Oh hes never leaving. After my gaffe last time I have a least 2 or 3 realistic ways to reconstruct him right now. There are a lot more unrealistic ways.
  15. Not gonna lie, Im kind of excited to RP mac going full out. Complete spacial manipulation is a cool thing to fight with.
  16. I think that timing of the pantheon doesn't really matter, so much as the method of inserting. I think a lot of stuff will be going down in between the 2 eras, and how things are inserted could provide some direction for the Next Era If the Era ends because of a fight between the OP characters that causes destruction and we need to step in like the Valar rounding the world in LotR, then it would be appropriate to insert as the main result of the conflict. It would also make sense for it to have a very large impact on the society and the such. Where as if it is inserted quietly, lets say that someone discovers it, then its less likely that it will be a major player in the next Era.
  17. Im concerned about the security of the fourth wall. I think that our only assistance and affect on the alleyverse should come through prayers of characters that aren't our own or in guilds that we are a part of. We could have a temple where that can happen. Besides that we should be completely removed from the alleyverse. I'm not sure how much I like these meta plots. I think it would be cool if we were to be able to be involved occasionally, but I don't want this to turn into a whole nother level of power creep.
  18. You got a point. I don't think that any one person should have this title. Instead I want the God of Resurrection, because of the large amount of times my characters get resurrected. And Dapper clothing. I am also the god of dapper clothing.
  19. @Karnatheon I agree with basically everything that you said in your post, and while the guild power creep is real, I would note that I have thought out ways that the DA has their amount of resources. This isn’t the place to mention them, but I rarely do anything in RP without making sure that it has a believable reason behind it. In terms of character power creep, I have an idea that could act as a way to rebalance the RP in universe. Essentially the god characters would get together and try to remove themselves from interfering with the alleyverse. They would enforce that among themselves and keep anyone else from getting too powerful. The creation of this could mark the end of Era 2. But I don’t want to end the era solely because of time, I think that their should be some big in universe event to mark it. In terms of what you said about guilds, I completely agree that each person should have one guild that they are loyal too. I also think that there should be a rebalancing in terms of the members of guilds. The idea would be the creation of a lot of small guilds, that way there’s more room for alliances and politics. But those things are difficult to enforce and can wreck the game for some people. So I’m not if it’s a good idea to implement them.
  20. By the way guys, I'm making it be known that Mac won't listen to any laws unless said laws have a way to punish him for breaking them. If you can find a way to actually harm Mac for breaking laws, then go for it. But he won't listen to them unless that's the case. Yeah, I have to agree with this. I know that initially I was one of the people proposing that this mountain should be a thing, but I think that even this thread is way too much. My vote would go toward us residing completely in Cyanic's beyond thread or a similar area. We would have no interference in the alleyverse beyond what we say to our characters after they die. If we did want to go the deity route, I think it would be best if we had characters be the gods, and they adopt a softer non-interventionist policy. Like, Mac would be a god that I would direct. This way we can balance the power in the RP a little more, but still have moments with deific interactions. Right now, everything feels like an escalation of power, and eventually none of the non OP characters will be able to have any relevance on the plot. If we remove the high upper power level, then things could get more balanced.
