People you wouldn't want to meet in a dark alley
StrikerEZ replied to Voidus's topic in The Alleyverse
Hmm...I think I've sort of been acting as a lone wolf with hemalurgic baked goods for too long. I think it's high time I officially joined the Dark Alley. -
Hey, that is major spoilers. Please put that first paragraph in spoilers!

Maybe i shouldn't be posting on this since this thread was last posted in almost two months ago, but I felt I might have something to help clear up some of what I believe @Confused is confused about. Investiture is like matter and energy, and can be changed between those two at will. The only difference between the massive amounts of Investiture in the Spirit Realm and any other Realm, whether it be a Splinter, the Dor, a Shard, or simply the Investiture of a metalmin, are all the same thing, just in slightly different forms and with different Intents. It's like how matter can be a solid, liquid, or gas. And as for large amounts of Investiture gaining sentience and/or doing massive feats (e.g. moving planets), this is like how matter when its clumped in large amounts exerts huge amounts of gravity on other objects. What you attempting to say with "Unique Investiture" and "Raw Investiture" is that they're two separate things, yes? That's like saying an apple (the equivalent to Unique Investiture) is different than a planet, or even a star (the equivalent to Raw Investiture). This is really my only problem with your theory. Besides that, I think it is really good.

Hey, welcome to the Shard! Have an upvote and a cookie! It's spiked delicious! DISCLAIMER: Side effects include, but are not limited to, hearing voices, gaining supernatural powers, the sudden urge to kill everyone, and the complete loss of control over your mind and body. The Dark Alley claims no liability for any damage done to/by the eater of this cookie. How have you enjoyed Brandon's works so far? Besides Mistborn and tWoK, have you read any other Sanderson books (Steelheart, The Rithmatist)? Once you've finished reading WoR, I'd recommend that you go read Warbreaker. You can find it for free on Brandon's website here. This book is really good, and is one of my favorites alongside tHoA and WoR. Plus, this one has some hints in it that'll make some Stormlight events/characters make a little more sense. Anyway, enjoy your stay here!

First of all, sorry, my finger slipped and hit the downvote button, but I fixed that! Anyway, welcome to the Shard! Have a cookie! It's spiked delicious! Mine is kind of tie between WoR, HoA, and Warbreaker. Have you learned about the Cosmere yet? If not, then I'd be welcome to help you out with learning about it. Also, when you finish the Era 2 Mistborn books (Alloy of Law, Shadows of Self, and Bands of Mourning), I'd recommended that you read Arcanum Unbounded. It has several short stories from throughout the Cosmere, both on worlds you already know of, and from new ones. Plus, it has a little story about what our favorite blond skaa thief was up to during WoA and HoA. Have you read any of Brandon's non-Cosmere works? If not, I'd definitely recommend checking out Steelheart. It was my introduction to Brandon, and I absolutely loved it. Also, sick beard.

I'm signing up. I haven't read/seen Les Miserables, but this looks really fun! Dariend Castel, a poor boy that took a dark path to save someone he loved, but now it's too late for him to turn back. He'd do anything to protect his loved ones, even if it means he'd never see them again.

Random Stuff X: Something Weird
StrikerEZ replied to marsoupial's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
I hate it when people are like this. I mean, yes, sometimes you may not like something solely because it's just not a genre/style of book that you like. Most of the time, however, in my experience, when I try books that I'm not sure about because they're a bit out of my comfort zone, I still end up liking them a lot. For example, my little brother usually only likes to read action-packed, sci-fi books. He was adamant that he wouldn't like the first Mistborn trilogy because he doesn't really like fantasy, or slower paced books, or the politicking that goes on in books like Mistborn. But, once he started reading it, he absolutely loved it and couldn't put the book down. Like @Orlion On a Cob said so well, this mindset comes about because we grow comfortable with certain things, and us humans really do no that like change, so we are afraid to branch out and try new things. -
Well.... Honestly, I wasn't expecting to carry the joke this far.
-
Okay, I haven't read WoT (didn't even know about it until I discovered Sanderson), but I did a quick search about this, and I'm not quite sure if what I did applies....
-
Well, you see, I'm on a deadline here....

I'm a gyorn. Would ya look at that. I'm not a huge fan of red, though I do think think blood red armor looks really cool. Probably cooler than purple armor, even though purple is my favorite armor. Also, does anyone have a moment to talk about our lord and savior, Jaddeth?
-
Do you ever have those moments where something physically happens to you in a dream/daydream and your body feels like it actually happened to you, or your body reacts as if it happened to you? That happened to me yesterday. We were driving to the doctor's office, and I was in that half asleep/half awake state and daydreamed that I stubbed my toe against something, and my entire body jumped a little in reaction that. It was so weird.

Oh, a question about Cytonics: Can everyone use it, regardless of role (except that one role)? Also, is it a more than one-time use? Oh, and do the Aliens have any of the other roles, or are they just aliens?

If you were a twinborn, what would you like to be?
StrikerEZ replied to Lord Bookwyrm's topic in Mistborn
Could a Tin/Gold twinborn become a savant, but tap their goldminds to heal theimself from the bad effects? Or is that assuming things that aren't true? Woah, what would happen if you were a Gold/Aluminum twinborn and you stored your Identity while burning gold? Could you store the identity of one of the gold shadows and later tap that identity to change who you are? What if you started storing before you started burning? Would you even see any gold shadows? Bendalloy/Pewter would be really cool. You could pop up a bubble during a fight, store most of your strength (preferably with a teammate to keep watch) then drop the bubble and start tapping again, then rinse and repeat as much as necessary. This would require loads of bendalloy though, which sucks. An Electrum Compounder would be insanely hard to beat. They would just store tons of determination before a fight, then tap it like crazy while burning tons of electrum, which makes them an almost unstoppable killing machine that can predict their enemy's every move.- 155 replies

Heh, this seems fun. I'll join as Nathaniel Southeast, a poor guy who won the galactic lottery, then subsequently lost most of the money in a bet and now works as a scientist. Dont ask how, just go with it.

What are your Cosmere names?
StrikerEZ replied to Borio Singaldi's topic in General Brandon Discussion
Wait, what about Worldbringer is from Mistborn? I've read it. -
