The Good News Thread: I'm So Excited! And I Just Can't Hide It!
StrikerEZ replied to traceria's topic in General Discussion
I've never been able to do that because I can't focus on the reading or whatever it is I'm doing on the stand and still play at the same time. Plus, it kind of bothers me, because that's the time when you're supposed to be rehearsing, you can text or Snapchat later. (Not directed towards you, that's me complaining about one of my section leaders who sits next to me in band class-she's a good leader, but she does stuff like that a lot) Also, what instrument do you play? I play bass clarinet. -
Compliment the person above you!

You seem pretty cool. Also, I think you're one of the science-y guys that helped me out with my world problems (sorry, by this point, I don't really look at usernames anymore, just profile pictures), though I'm not sure. Also, I saw your name and immediately thought of Silverlight instead. -

I think by the time y'all joined, she had changed her name to that, but it was originally just Delightful.

The Good News Thread: I'm So Excited! And I Just Can't Hide It!

Oh, I forgot to post this yesterday because I was so tired, but mini band camp started yesterday. Pretty much, it goes from 9 in the morning to 3 in the afternoon (with about a 45 minute lunch break) of almost non-stop marching and/or playing. It's so fun, even though it's rough, especially because I haven't done anything this physically active since the end of last year's marching season (around mid-November). Also, we got to hear the music (midi version) of our ENTIRE show for this year. That almost never happens. We also got the music for the entire show as well. We usually only get the opener and the ballad (first and second movements, respectively), and then when we get to summer band in August, the ballad usually has some revisions and then we get the closer. I can't believe we already have the entire show basically, even though the closer is likely to be a little different come August. I am kind of sad I didn't make drum major or even any leadership position, but I just gotta prove myself this year, and hopefully make it next year, my senior year. -

On the topic of reading in class, I remember that in elementary school, I'd read books all the time instead of paying attention in class or actually do the assignments. I remember one time in fourth grade, my teacher came over and had to take my book because I was reading it too much. She even emailed my parents about it, saying she felt bad for having to punish me for reading. I eventually (mostly) stopped this habit in middle school, and definitely by high school. -
This is actually really cool. I'm liking how this world is building, and I love the magic. Is this set in some sort of post-apocalyptic America? Because that's kind of what it feels like. I like it though. It's cool. Though, if there are magics based on other emotions, how would you go about a Sadder? Or an Exciter? Also, does the magic only come from driving? Or can it manifest if the person's emotions are strong enough, even if they're not driving? And does the magic only manifest if they're in/near the Roadlands?

Welcome to the Shard! Have an upvote and a low-fat smoothie! Be careful, the straw is sharp and made of metal pointy. What's your favorite Cosmere series? What's your favorite Sanderson book overall, though this doesn't have to be specifically Cosmere or non-Cosmere.

Nah, this one's fine. Plus, the other one already has 16 pages. Don think wanna Ruin that perfect number. Would you rather be trapped in the Pits of Hathsin or the chasms in the Shattered Plains?

Probably the second one. I can't stand being hungry, so hearing voices wouldn't be that bad. Would you rather be a Zinc Compounder, or a Bronze Compounder?

If you were a twinborn, what would you like to be?

Or, alternatively, a rioter version. They enflame the child's sense of happiness, and enhance their feeling of safety and security. And then repeat the same process with warmth. Also, an Archivist ferring would make for great a storyteller, as they could memorize countless children stories to tell the kids.- 155 replies

Oh.... You see, it was all part of my plan to find out your real name! Also, that's a pretty name. -
Oh...yeah, whoops. I always get those two confused. Along with Brass and Zinc. *Scadrial Hmm...it depends. If I have several vials of metals with me and several metalminds in the first scenario and knew ho to make the right proportions of metals, I think that'd be cooler, as I could use what I already had, and once I run out, try to refine more (which would be hard, but I doubt impossible). Otherwise, I'd like the second scenario. Would you rather be a full Feruchemist or a Mistborn? Either way, you have access to atium.

I read the hardcover version, but I'm not sure how the kindle version is. If it were me, I'd prefer paper copy, but I know some people prefer online versions. It just depends on your tastes. Though, I'm not sure how the maps and pictures show up on the kindle version.

Hah! I knew I was right to suspect Orlok! Or, at least, kind of. As of right now, it seems like Orlok is the most likely to be the one at fault, but I was almost starting to get a village read on him after I voted for him the last day turn. Actually, it doesn't even make sense that, if Orlok was an elim, that they would have him detain someone, which would draw unwanted attention to him, if he didn't explain his detainment and/or explained it suspiciously. It makes more sense for Orlok to be a village captain, and the elims actually do have a captain of their own, and they're just framing Orlok. Or maybe that's the exact strategy they'd know we come up with, and Orlok actually is an elim, and they still had him detain Flash. Ugh, I'm not sure what to do about this. If you truly are Mistborn @The Flash, which I believe you are because I've been getting a solid village read from you, then this is not okay. @_Stick_ we really need those PMs ASAP. Of course, I'm kind of suspicious of you, but that's just a gut feeling not really based on anything. EDIT: @OrlokTsubodai Hey, if you were the one who detained Flash, now would be a good time to come out and say it so we can confirm whether or not Flash was Mistborn.

Hey, welcome to the Shard! Yeah, Brandon does a pretty good job of hooking people in with his books, and once you've found out they're connected, your entire world changes as you look for the connections in all the books. Just wondering, have you read Arcanum Unbounded?

Hmm...well, that's interesting. I was not expecting Lopen to get killed. He was quite active, and it seemed like the elims were making a habit of targeting inactive players. Either we guessed their strategy wrong, or they decided to change it because we guessed it. As for The Flash, did you detain him, @OrlokTsubodai? If not, this could make things interesting. Anyway, I'm gonna be mostly inactive, except for a little in the mornings and at night, for the next couple of days because of mini band camp.

StrikerEZ replied to Lord Bookwyrm's topic in Mistborn
I'm gonna list a few combinations that'd be pretty cool. First, a Tineye/Archivist. The ability to spy on people, whether through listening to them or seeing them, then being able to store the memory exactly as you heard/saw it would be quite useful as a scouting/spying technique. A Slider/Spinner combo would be cool, as you could put up a time bubble, start tapping your metalmind, and just fire in random directions out of the bubble and hope that you hit something (which you should, since you're tapping luck). Ooh, a Lurcher/Bloodmaker combo would be pretty cool. You just Pull the metal to you, and you don't have to worry (too much) about any metal that stabs you, because you can just heal from it! This one doesn't have very many combat-oriented uses, but a Soother/Firesoul combo would make for a good person to help soothe children at night or when they're frightened, because they could Soothe away their fear, and then tap warmth and let the child snuggle up with them. Those are the only ones I can think of right now.- 155 replies
