Yeah, that actually makes a lot of sense. I just haven't read enough WoBs or annotations to reach that point yet.

Random Stuff X: Something Weird
StrikerEZ replied to marsoupial's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
Was that the interlude with the two ardent scientists? -
I'm gonna go ahead and say the latter, because you're a pretty good theorist, from what I've seen. I could never do all the crazy stuff you and @Pagerunner do. And some others, but you're just the first ones that pop in my head. I think I'm pretty good at explaining how what we know works and grasping the hard facts well. I'm just not good at theorizing. I do com up with my own crazy theories sometimes, though I usually keep them to myself. EDIT: Also, it's "too much to" lol Yay for gramma police!

Because you don't like remembering random tidbits, so you just remember the whole WoB? Or because you get asked to find them so often, so you just learn to memorize them? Oh...I could've sworn you're one of the people who finds the WoBs. I remember now, you're the guy who does all the cool theorizing and stuff lol. Also, sorry for hijacking your thread @Darth Revan

Yeah, I guess. I can never remember the WoBs for anything. I just remember random tidbits, and ask for someone like you, Calderis, or Extesian to find them for me.

Okay, so now that leaves 1-2 more elims. Hmmm.... @Seonid If we're still doing the plan, I'd like it if you didn't guard against me tonight.

What's happening here is that Returned are given what is called a Divine Breath. When they die, Endowment (the Shard on Nalthis, where Warbreaker takes place) gives them a choice whether they wish to Return or not. If they do, then Endowment "staples" their soul back into their body, using the Divine Breath (this is still mostly a theory here on the Shard, but it isn't a very popular theory). Returned need more Breaths (or any Investiture, really) to feed their Divine Breath or else they die. But what thy can do is suppress the Divine Breath, which is why Vasher didn't look like a Returned for most of the book. And Returned, just like normal people, can gather more than one Breath at a time. When they have a large amount and are supressing their Divine Breath, it appears as if they have heightening lower than the fifth heightening. Of course, each week, one of these Breaths is consumed by their Divine Breath in order to keep them alive. Hope that helps, and welcome to the Shard! EDIT: Ninja'd by @The One Who Connects He did a much better job, plus he cited WoBs.

That's actually really cool! Upvote for you! Have we always known that Roshar has been that south? Makes sense with the Frostlands, I guess, but I can't remember if there's a WoB about it somewhere.

Well, that plague is actually the common cold from the world hoppers traveling in the Purelake. So, not too bad, but when diseases aren't very common, and suddenly everyone gets something like the common cold, you'd freak out too.

Ugh, I've lost my post twice now. I hate everything. I'm only gonna posts a few suspicions so I don't keep losing them (sorry if these are bad, I'll probably be lazy with writing them). Flash: Basically, the entire first day, all he did was hop on other people's suspicions, never really making any major ones of his own. It seemed too much like an elim not sure who to cast suspicion on, so he just jumped at every opportunity to vote on someone that he could. He also seemed like he was trying too hard to cast himself as a villager. Strong elim read, though I wouldn't be all that surprised if he was just an overeager villager. Straw: I've already gone over him before, but basically, I don't like how he tried to get in as many PMs as posisble, which seemed like either a neutral or elim trying to gather information without giving away too much. Not as suspicious anymore, because I don't think an elim would've tried to gather so much suspicion publicly, but still weary. Neutral with a slight elim lean. Shqueeves: Very inactive, so no real read. BrightnessRadiant: Like I've said before, I really trust her. She seems like she's really trying to help out, and like someone else said earlier, she's posting a lot more and being a lot more helpful than in LG34, when she was an elim. It could just be a way for herself to seem more like a villager, but I'm still leaning heavy village on her. Elenion: Hasn't been very active because of irl stuff (his posts about this basically just happened). I have a neutral read from his few posts, but I feel like he might be village. StrikerEZ: I haven't been active that much, mostly lurking. Plus, I've been promising this post for ages now, whoops. I understand the reason for elim/neutral reads on me, considering how much I've been hyping this post lol. STINK: I have some PMs with him, and I'm feeling inclined to trust him, even if he is a neutral. Amanuensis: He's been really helpful with the village, and he's made tons and tons of really great analysis posts. At first, I was really iffy about him, but now I'm definitely leaning village. Especially if his roleclaim as the scavenger is true (which I believe it to be). Otherwise, if he ended up being elim, that'd be a masterful move (assuming they're blackmailing the true scavenger or something). But, I definitely think he's village. I'll finish the rest later, I'm just still salty about losing all my progress. Also, I wa ninja'd a few times while typing this lol

@Amanuensis Wow...that was actually very detailed. Kudos to you. I'll still (hopefully) make my suspicions post later, but I'll go ahead and vote Asterion for now.

I'm gonna go ahead and vote Lopen. Mainly because none of my other suspicions seem very substantial to me yet, and the others' suspicions of him make sense to me.

Okay, I'm just catching up with this, so I'm quoting this right now and I'll answer it fully once I get to the most recent posts. (Hopefully it saves my progress on the post). As for my advice for the Allomantic roles, that's because I'd already had experience with them in my first game (LG34). I've only finished one game so far, and I'm currently in two games right now. If you call that experienced, then fine. But the reason I felt that way about Jon was because during LG34 I felt slightly suspicious of him until I died in that game. And my suspicions turned out to be right. When this game started, I got the same feeling from him that had made me feel suspicious of him in LG34, though now I'm thinking that's just part of his meta (as I've seen it called). Okay, my iPad glitched out, so I lost part of your post. I'm responding to the part where you talked about how you wished I'd explain why I thought Straw and STINK were bad lynch choices: Okay, I thought STINK was a bad idea for a lynch because I've come to trust him due to certain things that we talked about in PMs. As for Straw, I felt it was odd that he made so many PMs, but I didn't feel it was elim indicative, but possibly neutral (though now I'm not as sure, especially with everything that has happened this day turn so far). Well, okay, I don't really have any excuses for not doing that post yet. I've just been lazy and haven't gotten around to doing it. Okay, as for my rating of you, I guess I phrased it wrong. I felt basically neutral about you, with a very, very slight lean towards village. Lately, that lean seems to be a bit more towards village now, though I still feel a little neutral about you. Not necessarily that you are a neutral role, just that I'm not sure whether you're village or elim. Though, like I said, I'm leaning more village as of now. The main reason now is because of what appears to be a neutral bandwagon against you, and the reasoning that I saw earlier while I was catching up that the neutrals worked with the elims to get Orlok attacked for the PMs and all that (sorry, I can't remember who posted that). And I'm sorry that I give you an elim vibe, though I do understand why you have it. I do know that the lack of my elusive suspicions post does seem very fishy. Honestly, it's just been because of laziness on my part. EDIT: Also, I'm still kind of confused on why everyone seems to want to lynch Asterion. Could someone explain that better? I kind of get the ideas from your post, Rand, but I'm not quite sure why that's so alignment indicative.

Darn, that doesn't help at all. Thanks for the answer anyway. I'd like to believe it was the elim kill, because the alternative doesn't make much sense to me.

Hmmm...that sucks. (thanks captain obvious) I'm not sure what to make of this. Of course, I never am, but still. That's beside the point, however. I think Yitzi is right that this was probably the elim kill, not a Cytonics backfire. Like he said, it wouldn't make sense for Elenion to say that the PCO shouldn't use their kill, then go ahead and use their kill. However, it could've been a good ploy by him to remove suspicion away from himself as the PCO by actually using the kill, which conflicts with his posted thoughts on the matter. I bring this up, because I protected myself against Elenion last night, so I'm not sure whether or not this is the elim kill or a failed kill attempt against me by Elenion. I felt I might as well confess, just to see what everyone else thinks. I hope it was the elim kill, and I do think it probably was, because if it wasn't, then that means that Elenion decided I was suspicious enough to kill me, which worries me. EDIT: I know how we can solve this @Sart If you defend against someone using cytonics, and they use an action against you, are you notified of this? I wasn't notified of anything, so that means that if Sart answers yes, it was definitely the elim kill. If he answers no, then it could still be either one.
