  1. Well, actually, metals on Scadrial are not Invested. That's why Allomancy works on other planets; the metal is just a gateway for Preservation's Investiture to flow through, as long as it's the right type of metal.
  2. Well the gemstone isn't metal, so I'd say nothing would happen and they'd have a gemstone stuck inside of them.
  3. Well, that's not quite how it works. To remove someone's metal reserves you need to burn chromium and to boost someone's metals you have to burn nicrosil. Duralumin-boosted/nicrosil-boosted gold would probably have some interesting effects, but not the kind you're referring to. Gold shows you your past; for the same effect as the Aviar, you'd want boosted electrum.
  4. Len's post about Stick does make a lot of sense, but I'm still not as suspicious of her as I am Flash. Even though he's been partially inactive every now and then for real life reasons, this entire game he's just been riding the coattails of other players' suspicions without making very many of his own. And the few he has made seem to be mostly gut reads with very little explanation. I know he's said that he's trying to play less aggressively and excitedly as he did in LG34, but that just feels like the perfect excuse for an elim to try and hide from suspicion and appear to be a villager that is just hopping around with their suspicions because they don't know what they're doing. EDIT: If Stick is lynched and turns out to be village, I don't think that would incriminate Len all that much. Len seems like too good of a player to risk doing a super long post like that just to get the village to lynch someone. If Stick turns out elim, than I think that basically clears Len, because I doubt any elim would go through that much trouble to bus a teammate that could potentially be saved. Of course, I'd much rather lynch Flash, who I'm getting a strong elim vibe from.
  5. That actually makes a lot of sense to me. Plus, I agree with the bonds being the focus on Roshar, mainly because I read someone else's theory on it awhile ago and really liked it (it might've been yours, but I think it was @Extesian who made it). And this definitely makes sense. I didn't word it very well in the OP, but I meant to imply that there'd be new parts of the magic system on Scadrial, not completely new ways to do magic on Scadrial.
  6. Okay, something that I've been thinking about lately is what happens when two (or more, I guess) shards Invest in a planet together and how magic systems form in the first place due to shards' Investiture. First, I wanna talk about the second of those two things. From what we've seen in both the books and from WoBs, it appears that creating a magic system is a side effect of Investing in a planet, though it is possible to control how the magic develops (e.g. Ruin's back entrance with hemalurgy). What I'm wondering is whether the magic system comes first, or if stuff like perpendicularities and/or godmetals come first. This idea was sparked by a discussion over on the Mistborn board where we discussing whether Trellium was a godmetal or not. If Trell, assuming they're a Shard, has Invested in Scadrial to the point that their Investiture has started forming godmetals, could it be assumed that they have a perpendicularity on Scadrial as well? And, better yet, could it be assumed that Trell has created another Metallic Art due to their Investing of Scadrial? And, would there be more Feruchemy-like magic systems, except between Trell/Preservation, Trell/Ruin, and all three? Of course, this probably isn't likely, because I'm sure Harmony would realize if another shard had been Investing themselves on Scadrial. Yet, that raises the question, how does Harmony not know what Trellium is? I guess it could be chalked up to him still being a relatively new Vessel, but it's still pretty suspicious. As for my first point, I brought that up because the difference between how the Metallic Arts developed on Scadrial and how the Rosharan magic systems developed seems very different. I'm not too sure about this one, but could it be that the difference is that Ruin/Preservation created their magic systems on purpose, while Honor/Cultivation created their magic systems on accident, as the side effect of Investing on Roshar? That also raises the question of voidbinding. If Odium is trapped on Braize (Braise?), how could he have Invested on Roshar to (presumably) create this magic system? Are there magic systems that are combinations of the different shards' Investitures? Anyway, this is mostly rambling, not really any cohesive theory, but have fun picking it apart!
  7. Honestly, I'm not sure who to vote on. This day has been pretty dead (thanks, Captain Obvious), so I can't really decide who to vote on. I think that, since STINK knows that what he did was kind of a jerky move, he doesn't need to be lynched anymore, but I have no clue who else we should lynch. I don't wanna lynch Elenion just because he's been a bit inactive (heck, so have I). I'll at least wait for him to post a bit before deciding.
  8. Yeah, that definitely makes sense. I'll just have to start saving important WoBs that are brought up a lot, so I don't have to go searching for them or call one of you guys.
  9. Thanks! And, on an off-topic note, how do you guys find the WoBs so fast? Like, at this point, I'm starting to remember them, but I have no idea how to search for them and find them so quickly.
  10. There's a WoB floating around (@Extesian @The One Who Connects @Calderis any help? ) which says that the comet-like spren is important to an order of the KR. We don't know which one, and just because it's floating around her doesn't mean she's becoming a Radiant. Though I do think it's likely.
  11. No, I don't think so.
  12. This is actually pretty cool. That whole idea with showing off how each element is awesome in its own way will actually hello me with one of my stories, so thanks for that!
  13. Hey, welcome to the Shard! Have an upvote and a free spiked cookie! DISCLAIMER: Side effects include, but are not limited to, hearing voices, gaining supernatural powers, having the sudden urge to kill everyone, and completely losing control over your mind and body. The Dark Alley™ claims no liability for any damage done to/by the eater of this cookie. Oh my gosh, that's so true. Brandon is so good at writing, it's hard to enjoy other books now. Like, I can't get the motivation to keep reading past the first few pages because they're just not at Brandon's level of writing. Brandon has tainted me! Also, which Cosmere book has been your favorite so far? Who's your favorite character? Have you read any of his non-Cosmere books?
  14. Yay! I felt I was right, but I'm usually wrong when I feel I'm right lol
  15. I'm just gonna go ahead and start helping the incoming @Spoolofwhool bandwagon.
  16. I'm not the best at explaining stuff like this, so I'll tag @Calderis @Extesian and @The One Who Connects to help me out here if I screw this up. Kinetic Investiture, as I understand it, is when you use Investiture (magic) basically. So, when burning a metal in Allomancy, that is Kinetic Investiture. It's kind of like how there's kinetic energy and potential energy, if that makes sense. I can't really think of any examples for "Potential" Investiture, but I wanna say Breath might be a good one, except for the fact that it grants the heigtneings, which could probably be viewed as Kinetic Investiture.
  17. Well, they're as dead as a Spren can be, but they can be revived obviously. Also, they aren't being held captive in blade form by the gems. Navani herself say that the gems came after the shardblades were made. The reason they are stuck as shardblades is because they used to be bonded to Radiants pre-Recreance, then the Radiants broke their oaths, killing their spren and trapping them as Shardblades.

Which Cosmere book I should your favorite? Which character is your favorite?
  19. I thought they said it was called something else? Plus, Palaneum is hard to remember/spell.
  20. Yeah, theoryland is bad-that's why they're making a new one! Well, one specifically just for WoBs. It will have a lot better search functions than theoryland does right now.
  21. Hey, welcome to the Shard! Have an upvote! Also, don't listen to @Sami, take a free, spiked delicious cookie! DISCLAIMER: Side effects include, but are not limited to, hearing voices, gaining supernatural powers, having the sudden urge to kill everyone, and completely losing control over your mind and body. The Dark Alley™ claims no liability for any damage done to/by the eater of this cookie. That's impressive. If I hadn't been trying to do school while reading the Cosmere, I could've finished it a lot quicker than I did, but it took me awhile to finish. Around the same amount of time it took you to finish the entire Cosmere, Brandon's WoT, AND The Reckoners. And yes, I'm pretty sure you're a fanboy, too. Which of Brandon Sanderson's books has been your favorite so far? Also, have you read The Rithmatist? If not, you should. It's pretty good, consindering it's by Brandon.

The Dark Alley™ claims no liability for any damage done to/by the eater of this cookie. Also, I agree, I've always been one to obsess over books/movies/TV shows/etc. I do agree that Brandon somehow creates this sense of epicness (that's a word, shhhh) and wonder within his books and worlds that just invites you to obsess over them and become thoroughly invested in them (pun intended lol). Mistborn was my first venture into the Cosmere as well, and I absolutely loved it! I'd gone into it planning on reading the entire Cosmere, but I was definitely hesitant to do so at first. I got over that real quick with the first trilogy. Anyway, welcome to our amazing forum! Have fun!
  23. (That can be interpreted two ways: you wish to turn yourself into a duck that has a Nahel bond, or you wish to be able to turn yourself [presumably at will] into a duck with a Nahel bond. I'm gonna go with the first one) Granted, but you are permanently a duck. You can't change back into a human.
  24. I like the idea, I'm just not too sure how likely it is. You can come back here and tell us all you told us so if Raoden does ascend. As for the likelihood of Raoden being able to hide, I find it highly unlikely. Unless Raoden got really good at hiding himself, I think the Khriss essay basically disproves this. I feel him pretending to still be two splintered shards is highly unlikely, and the idea that Khriss is just spreading misinformation feels wrong to me, even if it was to hide Raoden from Odium (which isn't too much of a problem, considering he's trapped on Roshar). Plus, if it were easy enough for Raoden to somehow gather the two shards with barely any Cosmere experience, don't you think the Ire would've just grabbed the splinters themselves, instead of going all the way to Scadrial to try and grab Preservation? Unless Raoden is telling the Ire to do that, which doesn't seem very much like something Raoden would do. Plus, he's hiding.
  25. Something I've always wondered is how they determined which type of allomancer someone is. I guess in the Final Empire Era, they would just have the recently beaten (and possibly Snapped) child eat each of the metals that they knew about until the kid noticed something, and was able to burn it, or was a Mistborn, but how would they know to keep going after the first one? Actually, that problem would be solved by the first two metals they tested for Mistborn, since they can only burn one or all, nevermind. But my main question is for Era 2 metalborn. Since everyone Snaps when they're born (presumably, since Snapping is much easier thanks to Harmony now, and none of our lovable metalborn friends have mentioned being beaten), do the doctors just test the babies to see if they're metalborn? Well, that wouldn't work, because it's just a baby. They'd have to wait until the kid is a little bit older to see if they're metalborn. This sparked some interesting ideas for me, as that could lead to the possibility of there being a sort of 'recruitment' of Allomancers (in later Eras), or at least being tracked down by the government when they're old enough. Also, how do they test Feruchemy? I'd assume the same method, but the kid would have to be old enough to participate in the testing and actually store in the metals. This was just an interesting idea I had, and I haven't seen anyone bring it up before, so I though it'd be interesting to talk about.
