Just curious, how many of the Cosmere books have you read?

DISCLAIMER: Side effects include, but are not limited to, hearing voices, gaining supernatural powers, having the sudden urge to kill everyone, and completely losing control over your mind and body. The Dark Alley™ claims no liability for any damage done to/by the eater of this cookie. Also, I never realized how much I loved long books until I started reading Sanderson's books. It's scary when you first start them, but then you get sucked into the story and the book flies by before you can even realize it. If you're wondering which Cosmere books you still need to read, I'd recommend reading Warbreaker next. You can find it for free on Brandon's website. It's a really good book all by itself, but the main reason I recommend it is that there's some Cosmere secrets in it that will make some events/characters in SA make more sense. Also, have you read the second Era of Mistborn books? Those start with Alloy of Law. If you haven't read those yet, I'd really recommend reading those as well. They're really good. Also, I hope you avoided all of the spoiler-y short stories from Arcanum Unbounded, like Secret History. Once you've finished all of the Cosmere books, I'd recommend doing a reread of the Stormlight Archive, as there's some cool Cosmere hints in there. Plus, Oathbringer, the third book, is coming out soon as well. Anyway, welcome again, and I hope you enjoy the site!

Yeah, that helped push the idea of how the Mirror Realm behaves, but the idea existed long before that movie was even announced for production.

Your Least Favorite Cosmere Story And Why
StrikerEZ replied to Stonesinew134's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I think my least favorite Cosmere story is either The Emperor's Soul or Well of Ascension. I know everyone likes TES, but for some reason I was just never able to enjoy this short story. It just felt too boring to me, though it did get a little interesting near the end as Skai escaped and all that. I just felt like the rest of the story was so boring to read, and Skai was a pretty boring character to me. WoA wasn't as bad as TES, but I felt like the whole Zane thing was really forced (though I do like romance in my books, but the Zane/Vin/Elend triangle was terrible) and the book definitely dragged a lot. It definitely had its good parts (the ending and basically everything with TenSoon), though the negative stuff really made it boring to read at first. Overall, I still think TES was the worst Cosmere story, but I know that lots of people are gonna disagree with me. And of course, this is all relatively speaking, because even TES is better than tons of other books I've read (and it was just a short story). -
A very interesting one I've been thinking about is the existence of the Mirror Realm. This has been a little dumb idea of mine for ages now, but I've always thought how cool it'd be if you could enter into a mirror and find a whole new world on the other side. The basic idea behind this power is that there's a hidden world that exists layered and mirrored on top of our own. Some people have the ability to touch a reflective object and enter this weird, mirrored world. It's possible to do this with things that aren't mirrors as well, like a shirt or something, but it's a lot harder and it's easier to just use a mirror or some reflective metal or something. Also, one that is less developed that I've been thinking about is where there are people who can use magic to sort of fuse with animals and become half-human/half-animal hybrid creature things. It's still a work in progress, but I like the idea.

Hmmm...the Cosmere is awesome, but even Sanderson's non-Cosmere books are amazing too! -

Ah, that makes sense. Well, if you can make an exception for that series, then you'd probably be fine with AoL as well. -

Aw, come on, the guns are one of the coolest parts! Seriously though, the Wax & Wayne series is awesome. It's so different from the first trilogy, but it's its own thing and it feels amazing. Plus, the guns aren't too overused either. Yup, that's the one. Hmmm...I'd wait until you finish Elantris and Warbreaker before doing that. There are some awesome hints hidden in the SA books from those two books. -

The Dark Alley™ claims no liability for any damage done to/by the eater of this cookie. Anyway, I recommend reading The Alloy of Law. It's set in the Mistborn world, Scadrial, 300 years after the end of the first trilogy. It's during the industrial revolution era of Scadrial, which is awesome because Allomancy and guns. It's really good. Also, I'd recommend reading Warbreaker, which can be found for free on Brandon's website. It is a really good story all by itself, but it makes some certain events/characters in SA make more sense. Also, once you've read the other Cosmere books, I'd recommend rereading both WoK and WoR so you can catch all of the hidden secrets and worldhoppers. EDIT: I just realized I reached my limit on upvotes for today. Tag me tomorrow and I'll come upvote you. (Which you can do by doing this: @StrikerEZ) -
Mid-Range Game 23: A Desperate Alliance
StrikerEZ replied to Seonid's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I'm not sure what you mean by this. Are you implying that you moved Stick's vote? Also...I guess I was wrong about BR (though I guess I was right at first lol). This is why I prefer to stick to my gut than change my mind later. Ugh I guess I shouldn't be too mad about BR dying though, that means we're closer to getting peace for everyone, though it is disturbing how Flash was killed like that. I'm actually really mad, because he was the one player I was starting to trust in my PMs. I haven't been keeping track of the Parshendi lives that are left, but I think that the Alethi are seriously at a disadvantage now. The Parshendi should be willing to try and root out the last Voidbringer to help promote peace, which is seeming less and less like an option every cycle. I'll think about this tonight, but I feel like it's in the Alethi's best interest to either lynch Sart or cloudjumper. Sart is either a Ghostblood that feels they've got to the point where victory is almost assured, or an Alethi that just doesn't realize how bad of a position the Alethi have gotten into. As for cloud, he just really seems like a Voidbringer to me, or possibly another Parshendi Ghostblood, since Sart moved the vote away him to save him (eh, probably not as likely though). -
Mid-Range Game 23: A Desperate Alliance
StrikerEZ replied to Seonid's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Hmmm...as much as I want peace for this game, something feels really fishy about this BR lynch. I've been rereading things, and I'm feeling very suspicious of cloud possibly being a Voidbringer right now. I'll explain why I feel this way later, but I want to get this vote in now, because I feel like the BR lynch is a very bad idea. Sorry for the last minute vote, I just don't like the way that Drake seems to have cast the blame on BR so hard. Maybe I'm wrong about cloud, but I'm not sure if I really think BR is SoH. -
The Good News Thread: I'm So Excited! And I Just Can't Hide It!
StrikerEZ replied to traceria's topic in General Discussion
Congrats @Jondesu! Remind me to come back and upvote you tomorrow because I've already run out for today. In other news, I went down to San Antonio for the big TBA (Texas Bandmasters Association) Convention. It was so cool because there was all this music stuff down there, and there was this really good composer that talked to us and gave some advice and tidbits about what it's like to compose...and he played the piano for us when we gave him five random notes and he made an amazing song. It was beautiful, and he came up with it on the spot and everything. And then he took the main melody of one of his other published songs and made a beautiful sad piece about what it's like being a father of a little 2 year old that has to travel a lot and how he called his son who missed him...ugh, it was so beautiful and it made me want to cry. Several people in the audience did cry though. And then the next day I got to go to the DCI Southwestern Championship. That was an absolute blast. It was so cool seeing all these amazing corps in person, and it was awesome seeing my two favorites live. And the last corps that performed, the Blue Devils, while I'm not a huge fan, had an amazing show and definitely deserved to win. Like...that show was phenomenal. I'm only sad that I decided to go to the lot, which is where the corps warm up before they perform, right as one of my favorite corps was about to perform. I'm so sad I missed them. Plus, they're not even gonna be at the DCI event I'm going to tomorrow either. Anyway, I had a very eventful past couple days, and it was so much fun! -
So...I'm back and I'm confused lol I guess I'll go along with the Doctor's claim, but I have no idea what I said going on really. I'll probably remember to RP later, but I might forget to. Yitzi

Mid-Range Game 23: A Desperate Alliance
StrikerEZ replied to Seonid's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Hmm...I sure missed a lot, didn't I? I'm still tired from my trip, so I'm gonna be lazy with this game for today, but I think it'd be smart to lynch BR like I suggested last cycle. -
Sorry I didn't show up earlier, I was on a band trip. EDIT: Oh, when did I become a bloodsealer? Who wants to give me their blood real quick?

Mid-Range Game 23: A Desperate Alliance
StrikerEZ replied to Seonid's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Okay, I'm going on a band trip down to San Antonio, and I won't be on hardly at all, so don't expect much from me these next few days. I'll probably be able to get on every now and then, but I dunno if my roommates will like me getting on my iPad while we're trying to sleep lol. Besides that, I'm not gonna vote this cycle because I don't like not being able to change my vote later, though right now I'd recommend lynching BR to try and keep the peace. -
Eh, I'd rather not. You never know who could see it. Anyway, I'm gonna be gone for the next few days, so don't expect much from me. I might be able Tom get on and check every now and then, but I'll be pretty busy and I doubt my roommates will want me on my iPad when we're trying to go to sleep.

Heyyyy, welcome to the club! -
I know! It's sooooooo good! Also, if you wanna talk about the identity of the Ones Above, that would probably be better served in the Cosmere Theories section. Yay!

Hmmm...so, I was not expecting the ability I got from my Essence Mark. I was misleaded by the symbol, and I'm sad. But, the ability I got isn't too bad, honestly. It definitely could come in handy. I just wish my assumption about the Essence Mark I have was correct. It would've been so much more fun if it had been lol. I'm honestly not sure who to lynch, but I think that's just a given with D1 lynches, though. I'll wait and see what other people think before I finally decide.

Okay, first, I've heard about your Reckoners game before, and I think it'd be cool to co-GM with you on that one, whenever you do it. Also, do you know around when my signed up game would be? And which signed up game would be played around November? Because that's when I could start co-GMing.

@Metacognition @little wilson @Alvron Hey, I'd like to sign up for a LG spot in the GM waiting list, or whatever it's called. When would the next available game spot be happening?
