Yeah, that's definitely true. I'm not a huge fan of rereading books usually, but I want to go back and reread his Cosmere books now. So far, I've only reread one of his short stories, Sixth of the Dusk. But I'm gonna reread them all, hopefully, before Oathbringer.
-
True, but it's more fun if you can catch them yourself.
-
Ah, okay. You just need a couple other books besides Warbreaker (which is free on Brandon's site, by the way). There's White Sand Vol. 1 and all of the short stories from Arcanum Unbounded. Also, I'd recommend rereading SA after finishing Warbreaker to see if you can catch all of the little hints from Elantris/Warbreaker/Mistborn in it.
-
I'd recommend reading Elantris and Warbreaker, the latter of which can be found for free on Brandon's website, and take a reread of SA. It makes some characters/events make a little more sense. You know, because of worldhoppers and stuff.

Ah...I'd forgotten the specific wording, but that's true.... Hmm...I dunno, I think it'd just be odd if the godmetal and adversary at the same, but eh.

Ah, but wasn't there that WoB that said that it was from a Shard we already knew?

Okay, your point works, I'd just like to clarify something. There were always mistings of the rare metals (chromium, cadmium, bendalloy, etc.) before the Catacendre and when they were able to make those metals. They just weren't able to realize they had those abilities. As for Ferrings, they didn't exist until interbreeding between the Skaa/nobles and Terris started messing with the allomancy/feruchemy sDNA. There would've only been full feruchemists. Of course, that still would've required them to discover those metals, realize they were part of the metallic arts, and hunt down and kill several full feruchemists-all within around 10 years. So I doubt it's possible. Could they have done it later? Yeah, probably. Would they have done it? Probably not.

Hey, welcome to the Shard, @ThePathsofPain! Have an upvote and a free spiked delicious cookie! (By the way, what an interesting username ) DISCLAIMER: Side effects include, but are not limited to, hearing voices, gaining supernatural powers, having the sudden urge to kill everyone, and completely losing control over your mind and body. The Dark Alley™ claims no liability for any damage done to/by the eater of this cookie. Yeah, Brandon is so good at writing and it's definitely inspiring as an author to see how good he is. His Cosmere actually inspired me to push several world ideas I've had for a long time and make the final step towards connected worlds. I was already heading towards this, but Brandon gave me the final big push. As for the Cosmere, how many books have you read from it? And have you read the Wax &a Wayne Mistborn books?
-
@Mekyo Yeah, WoR is definitely usually everyone's favorite book as well. Just curious, which books have you read?
-
Yeah, the cookies are high in iron too. Ah, okay. That makes sense. I just misunderstood your first post then. Mistborn is definitely a good book to have as a favorite. It was my introduction to the Cosmere as well, and it absolutely blew me away. Sadly, I was dumb and had only checked out the first book so I couldn't start the second one right away. Strangely, I'm not a huge fan of TES. I know it's good, but I just wasn't by a huge fan. It's one of my least favorite Cosmere stories, personally. Something about the stories on Sel just don't intrigue me (though Raoden's storyline in Elantris was really good, I didn't like Sarene or Hrathen until about 3/4 through). My favorites are HoA (Hero of Ages), Warbreaker, and WoR (Words of Radiance). I absolutely loved all three of these books, for all completely different reasons (which is cool), so I can't really decided on a favorite. But my favorite short story is SotD (Sixth of the Dusk). Something about that world and the magic of the Aviar made me love it. It's no SA or Mistborn, but it's so cool! Just wondering, how much of the Cosmere have you read? And have you read the Era 2 Mistborn books?

Fandom is apparently good for my mental health
StrikerEZ replied to officiumdefunctorum's topic in Introduce Yourself!
@officiumdefunctorum Have you only read the first trilogy? There's a second series of books set 300 years after the first trilogy during Scadrial's industrial revolution. The coolest part about it is allomancy with guns. If you have, then I guess Mistborn just isn't your thing. It's definitely my thing though. -

Yeah, it's crazy how many people are joining. I've kind of become the unofficial greeter for new members in the intro board, so I've had a busy day today. I'm also the unofficial spiked delicious cookie distributor to newcomers.... -

(Also, I was confused for a moment when I saw your name because there's a baseball player who's last name is Napoli)

Which Cosmere magic system would you like to have powers from if you could? Also I only get books from the library too. I really want to start collecting the Cosmere books though.

Most Overrated Character
StrikerEZ replied to Toaster Retribution's topic in General Brandon Discussion
I think I agree with @Toaster Retribution here. I definitely think that main characters can be overrated. And I think the main problem here is how we're defining overrated. I personally define overrated characters as characters that are really popular, regardless of their importance to the story, within the community that you don't find all that interesting. -
You're welcome for the cookie! (It's high in iron, by the way ) Yeah, it's hard for me to pick a favorite as well. Have you read Arcanum Unbounded? Because Sixth of the Dusk, one of the short stories from it, is definitely my favorite Cosmere short story ever. As for full books, my favorites are HoA, Warbreaker, and WoR. It's fine. I'd love to see some fanart! Also, this might be a bit cliche since you're a non-native English speaker (I assume-sorry if that's not true), but your English is really good! (Autocorrect almost made me say it isn't really good )

Eh, I'm not a huge fan of TES. Like, it's a good story and definitely better than some other author's best works, but I just was pretty bored while reading it. It's one of my least favorite Cosmere stories. As for Edgedancer, that one is an obvious favorite of everyone, because Lift. Same with Secret History. I like those short stories for the cool factor, but SotD is still my favorite overall. Something about that story and the Aviar just clicked with me.

Yeah, that one's pretty good. That was my last Cosmere book, so it's most recent in my memory as well. My favorites are either HoA, Warbreaker, or WoR. Oh, my favorite short story is Sixth of the Dusk, which is from Arcanum Unbounded.
