  1. Yeah, it's so much fun! I haven't been playing for that long, but it really is fun. If you've played mafia before, you'll like it
  2. Hmmm...for me, it's not that I dislike it, because I really do like it. It's way better than most books out there's because it's written by Brandon Sanderson, of course. For me, that one just dragged down in the middle. I couldn't quite tell where it was going for awhile, and I got a little bored reading it for some reason. But, it got a whole lot better, and I absolutely loved how Steris started to evolve into the adorable lady we all know and love. But it definitely wasn't a bad book, I just think it paled in comparison with the first and third. EDIT: Ninja'd by Calderis lol
  3. Oh, that's good! You should start Mistborn as soon a second possible! It's sooooo good! Well...it's a joke from Mistborn...kinda. You'll understand once you read it lol. Also, I haven't read Alcatraz still.
  4. Well, in the Wax and Wayne series, Wax is constantly storing a little bit of his weight at basically all times, so I assume it's more of an on/off switch then a conscious decision.
  5. I think a really good series is the Jackaby series by William Ritter. I've had lots of favorite books (that weren't written by Brandon, of course ), but this series takes the cake for being one of my absolute favorites. The first book, Jackaby, is just so good. It's like a fantasy version of Sherlock Holmes but set in mid-19th century America. It's just wonderful. There's ghosts, werewolves, monsters, and a quirky supernatural version of Holmes himself with a badass female Watson. If anything, the Watson character is one of my favorite characters from any book ever. There's been three books so far, with a fourth one coming out soon.

I'm sure almost anyone on this site would be willing to comfort you and listen to you. I know I would. If you ever fee the need to just dump some emotional baggage or whatever, just come talk to me! But please, take care of yourself. We care about you, and we wouldn't want anything bad to happen to you.
  7. @Draginon Hey, welcome to the Shard! Have an upvote and a free spiked delicious cookie! DISCLAIMER: Side effects include, but are not limited to, hearing voices, gaining supernatural powers, having the sudden urge to kill everyone, and completely losing control over your mind and body. The Dark Alley™ claims no liability for any damage done to/by the eater of this cookie. Have you read the sequel to The Way of Kings? Have you read any of Brandon's other books? Do you know about the Cosmere? If you've only read WoK, then I'd suggest reading some of Brandon's other books before continuing on to Words of Radiance, because there are lots of Cosmere hints in it. If you didn't know, all of Brandon's fantasy books are all set in the same universe on different planets. I'd recommend reading Mistborn first because that one is really good. It's split into two sets of three books, the first trilogy being set during a more traditional fantasy era, while the second three (and there's a fourth coming out next year) are set in an industrial revolution era. That's all in the same world as well. After Mistborn, I'd suggest reading Elantris and Warbreaker. Both have some minor hints in the Stormlight Archive, so it's always fun to see those when you read through the Stormlight books. If you've already finished WoR, I'd recommend reading the rest of the Cosmere books, then go back and reread the Stormlight Archive so you can catch all the little hints. Anyway, welcome again, and have fun!
  8. Jaspian clutched his stick as the strange light began to make him a new body. It was weird, the feeling of being dead than all of a sudden being alive again. He didn't quite care all that much about the discomfort, because now he was alive again! He could live, breathe, eat, everything a normal person could do. Jaspian looked around at the fellow ghosts' new bodies, trying to see if everyone had made it through. He noticed that six of them hadn't used their Essence Marks like he had. Interesting, he thought to himself while absentmindedly petting the stick. I am a stick? Jaspian sighed, looking around at the people again. Then he realized that there was a bird trying to act as if it hadn't just come out of the shardpool. Jaspian just shrugged, looking away from the bird-person and back to his stick. He had been wrong, only five of them hadn't used their Essence Marks. But why did one of them turn themselves into a bird? he asked himself, hugging the stick. Of course, now he had to listen to the rude voice inside of his head and the cloaked guy and go see what these fires below them were all about. EDIT: 207 words
  9. @Thail Hey, welcome to the Shard! Have an upvote! Don't listen to @Calderis, have a free spiked delicious cookie! DISCLAIMER: Side effects include, but are not limited to, hearing voices, gaining supernatural powers, having the sudden urge to kill everyone, and completely losing control over your mind and body. The Dark Alley™ claims no liability for any damage done to/by the eater of this cookie. Also, I'd recommend reading Warbreaker, which is free on Brandon's website, or Elantris either before you read WoK (The Way of Kings) or WoR (Words of Radiance). I assume you've learned at least a little bit about the Cosmere so far, and you might notice some little Easter eggs in Stormlight Archive if you read Warbreaker and Elantris first. You definitely don't have to, but that's my recommendation.
  10. Aw man, that sucks. I kind of did the same thing except Eh, it is kind of creepy, but trust me, the story is really good. Yeah, I gotchu. AoL is really good, but you can tide yourself over with SotD and TES.
  11. Awwwww, that's fine. A baby is a lot more important than a silly game on the internet, so spend as much time as possible with your wife and new child. You deserve it!
  12. Aww, okay. If you had waited, that would've made something be a little more impactful, but it's not too big of a deal. Also, this is a tragedy. You need to read Sixth of the Dusk now. It's absolutely one of my favorite short stories, or stories in general, of all time. I know some people don't like it as much as some of Brandon's other stuff, but I absolutely love it. While you're waiting for AoL, I'd suggest reading that short story. Also, have you read Elantris? If so, I'd read Emperor's Soul as well.
  13. Oh, that's awesome. You should totally get to reading the Era 2 books (AOL and its sequels). They're really good. Sucks that you're library didn't have I thought though. Also, you haven't read Secret History from Arcanum Unbounded yet, have you?

If you haven't yet, I'd recommend reading Mistborn, because that series is amazing. Also, I'd recommend reading Warbreaker (which you can find for free on Brandon's website) and then rereading WoR because it makes some things in that book make a little more sense. Anyway, welcome again, and have fun!
  15. @Yitzi2 Here ya go. Jaspian looked up at the man who spoke to him, startled. He hadn't realized that someone had come so close to him. I am a stick? the stick asked meekly. Jaspian whispered to the stick, consoling it. He would never let anything bad happen to the stick. Never, ever, ever, ever. "Um...why do you want to know why I'm talking to the stick?" Jaspian asked frantically, his eyes shooting all over the place, never truly focusing on The Wanderer. "Do yo-do you want to steal the stick from me! I'll never let you steal it from me! It's my precious! You'll never steal it!" After this, Jaspian proceeded to run away from The Wanderer while muttering to the stick. While running away, he noticed lots of other strange people in this place. He wondered if any of them wanted to steal the stick too.... 208 + 146 = 354 words so far
  16. @Calderis @AngelEy3 I've already wasted most of my votes on Calderis today. And I did the same thing yesterday too.
  17. Awww, I'm so sorry. I hope you can get there as soon as possible! *hugs*
  18. That's really annoying, honestly.
  19. This is actually how I feel right now, and Sart basically said everything I would've said. I do agree that BR is a threat, but Sart is right-someone is probably gonna kill her anyway, so why waste a lynch on her? After last cycle, i think it'd be in the Alethi's best favor to lynch Jon. (I think I already voted on him, but I'll go check and add a vote here if I haven't). I really want peace, but at this point, with two Alethi scanners dead, I'm not sure how likely that is anymore. I think we need to lynch a Parshendi to try and promote peace, because, like Sart said, there'll probably be lots of Alethi dying tonight anyway. EDIT: Okay, I have already voted on Jon. I couldn't remember if I did last night, because it was late when I voted lol
  20. Jaspian talked to his stick for the upteenth time that day. I am a stick, it told him. Jaspian sighed again, clutching the stick within his hands. He had had a stressful day, but the fact that he had died didn't help alleviate the stress one bit. Especially considering the scary man and the even scarier voice inside his head (besides the stick, of course). He didn't quite know what was going on, but he wished the stick would console him again, like it used to. I am a stick, it said again, but more forcefully this time. Jaspian sighed, nodding his head. The stick was right, Jaspian needed to get over the loss of his life and work on solving whatever problem he had gotten himself into. Maybe he and the stick could bring themselves back to life somehow? I am a stick? Jaspian nodded. He didn't think it was likely either, but the strange, stonelike...thing he had taken from the man seemed almost...mystical. Maybe he could use this to become alive again? I am a stick, the stick said agin. Jaspian smiled, and raised his head up high. He was determined once again to be alive, and he would do whatever it takes to do it. 208 words
  21. Hmmm...this is quite interesting. I tried asking the GM if we can use the Essence Mark more than once, and I got a PAFO. So, I'm gonna wait before I use it, because if we can't use it more than once, I want to make sure I last as long as possible before I pass Beyond. I'll do some RP later.
  22. @Niteshado For non-Cosmere books, I'd definitely recommend reading Steelheart. Basically, the premise is that people started getting powers, but they only became supervillains. It's really good, and it plays with the idea of superhero powers and Brandon comes up with some really cool powers fro this series. There's not much else I can say about that inst spoiler-y though, so you'll just have to read it yourself!
