You could just beg for upvotes all across the forum lol I'd totally give you all my upvotes to help you reach stormfather. Also, I became a forger at some point. I wonder if I could stamp myself to be an Elantrian....

sibling {OB} The 3rd so called Sibling
StrikerEZ replied to SzethIsBadAsHell's topic in Stormlight Archive
As @teknopathetic put it so eloquently, they/them as gender neutral pronouns is not as huge of a problem as you think it is. English teachers, of course, will probably teach it as grammatically incorrect, but it's so commonly used as gender neutral in speech that I don't see the problem with Brandon using it.- 15 replies

Beautiful Destroyer: Depictions of Violence in the Cosmere
StrikerEZ commented on Comatose's article in Columns and Features
I'm sad no one has commented on this yet. You basically summed up how I feel about violence in media perfectly. Somehow, we absolutely abhor violence in the real world, while glorifying it in movies and TV shows and books. Plus, I feel like you nailed perfectly what Brandon was going for with Vin and Dalinar. -
I actually really like this theory. No idea how true it may be, but I really like it.
-
Well, we don't the exact times that Lift and Taravangian went to the Nightwatcher. They both easily could've gone after Dalinar had gone. Lift only went about three years before the story takes place (several years after Dalinar went). It's a bit iffy whether King T went after Dalinar, but we do know that they both went after Gavilar's death. It's highly plausible that King T could've gone after Dalinar, which would make Cultivation's statement still true.

Question on discussion of unpublished material
StrikerEZ replied to Weltall's topic in 17th Shard Discussion
I'm no mod, but I think you can just discuss it as much as you want in the Unpublished Works forum. @Pagerunner @Windrunner For clarification -
Not gonna lie, I'm not a huge fan of Jasnah. It's not that I hate her, I just don't like her very much either. It will be interesting to understand how she became who she is today and what happened with that "illness" of hers, though. Also, I don't understand the hype for the Heralds' flashbacks. I'd much rather have flashbacks from new characters and just get the info from the Herald flashbacks in the main story.

@Calderis Dude. This is really storming good.

I'm the most excited about the next book. The relationship between the Eshonai flashbacks and the present-day Venli chapters is gonna be sooooo good. Venli is definitely one of my favorite characters, so I'm so excited to see more from her. Plus, I just really love the Singers. They're just so interesting and I want them to be developed more. Renarin's flashbacks will also be really interesting.

sibling {OB} The 3rd so called Sibling
StrikerEZ replied to SzethIsBadAsHell's topic in Stormlight Archive
@SzethIsBadAsHell Well, them/they can be used to refer to someone/something that is gender neutral or doesn't have a gender. It doesn't necessarily mean that the Sibling is like a hivemind or something. As for the identity of the Sibling, it is generally assumed by most people that it is somehow related to Urithiru due to the gemstones in the gemstone archives that talk about the Sibling receding causing or at least being related to the deterioration of Urithiru. The exact nature of this relationship is uncertain; we don't know if the Sibling is the spren of Urithiru, a spren that is bonded to Urithiru, or something else entirely. Many people also think that the Sibling is the spren of stone. I definitely do not think that Cusicesh is the Sibling. It just doesn't make any sense.- 15 replies

[OB] Do you think Jasnah likes Kaladin?
StrikerEZ replied to The Night Watcher's topic in Stormlight Archive
True, I just don't see the need for a political marriage. I wouldn't but upset, per say, if it did happen (I'm sure Brandon could make it work), but I don't expect or want it to happen either. -
[OB] Do you think Jasnah likes Kaladin?
StrikerEZ replied to The Night Watcher's topic in Stormlight Archive
Eh, I guess. I just don’t think that’s a good reason, honestly. Also, I just really want Jasnah to remain single because I like the idea of her being asexual so much lol -
fused [OB] Let’s discuss. How the Fused use Voidlight
StrikerEZ replied to SzethIsBadAsHell's topic in Stormlight Archive
@Journey Before Pancakes I could actually really get behind that. It seems like a really cool idea. It would explain why the Heralds and Fused can actually die. Sort of a fail safe in the Shards themselves that stop people from using too much of their power.- 67 replies

[OB] Do you think Jasnah likes Kaladin?
StrikerEZ replied to The Night Watcher's topic in Stormlight Archive
@Argel @Calderis I agree with both of you. I can see it going either way. I tend to lean towards Jasnah being either homosexual or asexual, though, so I prefer the scenario where she stays single. I could see her have a consort and child simply for the practicality side of it. I could also see Jasnah being heterosexual or bisexual, and her avoidance of marriage has nothing to do with her sexuality. I think this one works just as well, and she could easily fall in love with someone in this scenario and have a kid with them while also seeing the practical necessity of doing so. In addition, I could see Jasnah just keeping Gavinor as her heir. She’s politically savvy enough that she should be able to protect herself from posible threats relating to/from Gavinor. This would remove the need for her to produce a child, but doesn’t preclude her from getting involved in a romantic relationship. As for Jasnah/Kaladin...I could see it, but I’d personally prefer them to both stay single. Seeing Kaladin grow and mature to the point that he could keep a romantic relationship wouldn’t be a bad read, I just wouldn’t like it as much. As for Jasnah, i just really like the idea that she’s asexual or aromantic. -
fused [OB] Let’s discuss. How the Fused use Voidlight
StrikerEZ replied to SzethIsBadAsHell's topic in Stormlight Archive
Oh yeah, I don’t disagree with the fact that they’re directly fed by Odium. I just don’t like it lol. I could get behind the idea that Odium is directly feeding them, but not constantly or directly. I would just wonder two things: 1) how would that work; and 2) why would he do that? Wouldn’t it be more efficient to just constantly supply the Fused with voidlight? Unless that leaves him open to attacks from the other Shard/Shards (when Honor was still alive). Also, I’m sure I’ve told you this before, but I really love you’re theory that voidlight tends to go in while storm light tenda to go out.- 67 replies

fused [OB] Let’s discuss. How the Fused use Voidlight
StrikerEZ replied to SzethIsBadAsHell's topic in Stormlight Archive
Well, they are Cognitive Shadows. That’s exactly how they work and are able to stay alive so long and get new bodies. The only problem I have with the Fused drawing directly from Odium is that they shouldn’t be able to run out that way, which is not the case since Chiri-Chiri was able to drain a Fused enough to kill it. They would be fed the power directly from a Share, so they shouldn’t ever run out. They must get their voidlight some other way then.- 67 replies

Wow, thanks for considering me one of the more creative people on the Shard. I haven’t really done much except talk about what I want to do though. Anyway, I had a read over this and it seems pretty good. Like Kureshi said, I don’t know much about plays, but the dialogue felt a little exposition-y to me. It also felt a little forced at times. I’m sorry I can’t be more specific, there was nothing that really shot out to me like this, it was just kind of a general feeling from it. Overall, I think it’s really good and I’m excited to see more.

I know I'm being pedantic here, but true spren are not just sentient, they are sapient. There is a huge difference between those two things. All spren are sentient: having sentience only means that the being responds to external stimuli. Sapience is having the capability of thought and emotions and things like that. Only true spren have sapience, which is what distinguishes them from lesser spren.

Radiantspren are a type of True Spren, so the title still works.

Having a Bad Day?: Get 'yer Hugs here!!
StrikerEZ replied to Curious Anamaximder's topic in General Discussion
Sometimes, life sucks. I've been slowly getting worse, but I was trying to avoid it. I don't know if I actually have depression (I haven't been clinically diagnosed), but it sure feels that way sometimes. I've had so many good things happen in the past few weeks (got a one at the UIL state solo contest, got a scholarship for the Baylor summer band camp, school is now over as of 12 hours ago), but I don't feel happy. I hate it when I get like this. It feels like no matter what I do, I can never be happy. Then, section leader results came out today. And I didn't make it. I really needed to make it, for my sanity. I know it isn't a huge deal. I know this isn't something to get super depressed over. So why am I? -
Well, I guess you could do that. Kind of a cheat to create lightning. However, unless you had a separate person that was a Lightning Elementalist (or had one person with all four of those elements), you would only be able to create it, not control it. Lightning Elemantalists use their magic to create it without having to have all the preexisting conditions.

Last time I was here I was a stormwarden and now I'm a creepy dude with messed up bones who sacrifices people to teleport. Fun.

Some of the names for some of the other Chosen Ones are inspired by the naming system of Bionicle. Bionicle was storming amazing. Well...putting it off to perception won't work, will it? It's because...Fire basically works by giving the spark/energy required to start a fire or, in some cases, providing the fuel. Air works by simply manipulating the actual air and the wind currents. So, while fire needs oxygen to burn, Fire elementalists don't have control over it-which gives Air elementalists an advantage over them. Did any of that make sense?
