  1. Don't worry, you're good. I reported the post, but that doesn't seem to be working, so @Pagerunner I saw you were online a little bit ago, do you think you could move this to OB spoilers? Do you think it needs to be moved there?
  2. @recneps I think it's important to keep in mind that the Vessel's interpretation of the intent greatly influences things. OB spoilers (just slight) The bold part is the part I mainly wanted to focus on. What is being Autonomous? You seem to have a very narrow definition of Autonomy: that of perfect isolationism and leaving others alone and non-intervention. But Brandon himself mentions that Autonomy has many different meanings and that, depending on your perspective, becoming ruler of everything in order to give everyone Autonomy afterwards might fit the intent of the Shard. Either way, I don't think I think matters if you don't think that what Autonomy is doing (if she is Trell) is Autonomous or not. We don't know her motivations or her perspective on these issues. For all we know, she could be planning to take do the exact same scenario I mentioned earlier. Or, if Trell is Ann avatar of her, it could have its own will and go against what Autonomy views as Autonomous. We really don't know enough to guess at her motivations. We do know enough to guess with 99% certainty that Trell is Autonomy-non of the other candidates can be Trell, either because they are Splintered, preoccupied in other planets, or cannot be Trell for meta reasons.
  3. @Katy This doesn't really go in general discussion. It goes more in OB spoilers.
  4. The meeting in TFE where we're introduced to all of the crew members would go really well as a parody of Aaron Burr, Sir from Hamilton.
  5. Nope. The people here use spanreeds a lot.
  6. Stupid autocorrect. That should be shining. And thank you! It took me several hours to get that right, without giving too much away. And to think it's only 700 words...writing a book is hard . Also, I realized that his thoughts weren't italicized.
  7. Honor himself told the Radiants that, I believe, unless I'm mistaken. A very popular theory of what happened with the Recreance is that the Radiants were already starting to doubt themselves, since Honor was raving to them that they were the voidbringers and they would eventually destroy Roshar like they did Ashyn. Add in some examples of that destruction (Stormseat) with the fact that, by imprisoning BAM to stop her from giving voidlight to the Singers during the False Desolation, they basically performed a lobotomy on an entire species, the Radiants probably weren't feeling like they were the good guys.
  8. The Stormfather said the Nightwatcher is not Cultivation, not that she isn't one of the siblings. And we know for a fact that the Nightwatcher is to Cultivation as the Stormfather as to Honor. And @Calderis beat me to it.
  9. Nope. This place is a hub of some kind.
  10. This is very unpolished right now, but I finally figured out what I wanted the prologue to be for this story. The title of the series will probably change eventually, though. @The One Who Connects @Steeldancer @Nathrangking @Belzedar @Calderis @Hemalurgic Headshot @King Cole @Dragon314 @Unodus I went back and checked old topics I've made about this story, and you were all interested, so do you think you could read this and tell me what you think? @Darkness_ @Chaos @Argent @Extesian @Ecthelion III @Elenion @Sunbird @Bleeder You wanna read it?
  11. Oh, wow, I'd completely forgotten about those ones. I was way off then. I guess there's a difference between spiritual wounds and changes to your spiritweb.
  12. @goody153 Well, with TLR he was probably healing before he was beheaded. Personally, I don't think gold healing would be able to heal you if you weren't already healing before being beheaded or delivered a fatal blow. Your spiritweb would already be in the process of healing things, so a fatal wound would just be another thing for you to heal. If you weren't healing before, you die and can no longer start the healing process. The thing about gold healing though is that it matches the physical form to the spiritual ideal. It does NOT heal spiritual damage. Therefore, gold healing would not be able to heal a Shardblade wound. As for Hoid, he has some crazy healing ability we really have no idea about. Presumably, there's some funky stuff going on with his spiritweb that forces his physical form to match it at times.
  13. Please put OB spoilers in a spoiler box outside of the OB spoiler thread.
  14. This place is on Roshar
  15. Is it Widor, the capitol?
  16. Ooh, that's good to know. Also, I've noticed, at least in the first three books, that Rand has always been kinda avoiding his destiny as the Dragon Reborn (until the end of book 3, of course, which was epic). That's just so weird to me because the "chosen ones" in stories are always glorified and have epic powers, so why should anyone avoid that? It's just an interesting dynamic I've noticed, especially with the fact that saidin makes men go crazy. Kinda reminds of Kaladin's arc in WoR.
  17. Well, there's the Lopen. But I get what you mean. I personally think we don't know enough about the Sibling to even guess at anything about it yet.
  18. I've always assumed that is its name. Otherwise, they would call it by its name.
  19. @ScarletSabre Man, that was pretty good. Could be polished up a little, but it was really good. As it went on, I could tell this man had done something really messed up. That casual reveal of the crimes he committed contrasted with the casualness and the charming personality of Derrick was really good.
  20. It's just a working name, right now. I'm really bad at naming things, so this is just a temporary name.

Some of the dialogue, especially in the meeting between the two guys, felt really forced. Besides that, I agree with all of what @Cadmium Compounder said.
  22. Thanks everyone for the comments! I'm in this for the long haul because I want to get to Brandon's books, so it doesn't sound like I'll have to put up with as much slogging as I thought I would. Right now, Perrin is a character I'm really interested in. How much time does he get in those books where the plot diverges?
  23. Yeah, I was thinking about going back and adding a comment like that in my original post. In the long run, it doesn't really matter what order you read the books in-all those connections about the Cosmere are made eventually. I usually recommend reading SA after everything else though because there are so many connections to other books in the series. It just makes it easier to understand if you can recognize those things you've already read.
  24. It's not so much a book, but Sixth of the Dusk is my favorite Cosmere short story. Elantris and Warbreaker were okay, but not amazing.
