  1. The cosmere equivalent of splitting the atom.
  2. Endowment would be that person that scrolls down your timeline and likes every post at once. Preservation: "Got punched in the face today, didn't think that was possible. I may not be cut out for this god stuff, guys". Odium: "Totally harmless and fun party on Braize tonight, shards only. And no one tell Harmony." All you would get from Cultivation is Farmville requests. Autonomy would set their relationship status to "It's Complicated".
  3. Upvote for being the first person I've seen ever use the term "bugnuts" in a sentence. We probably won't have a definitive answer the current state of the Oathpact and it's mechanics for another couple of books. But I think it's safe to bet that the "power" of the Oathpact, past and present, resides mostly in the Spiritual. The Oathpact connects the Heralds to an oath and a duty. In the Spiritual Realm all things are connected and one. Also we know that the majority of Shards power also resides in the SR. Honor used his own power to craft the Oathpact and to give the Heralds their power. It's also safe to say that Heralds are currently pretty conscious of what's going on with the Oathpact. A few of them do at least, anyway. By way of Ishar and the coming of the desolation, Nale now know's that he's loosing it. Same can be said for Ash after what we saw in her POV's. The Herald talking with Nale in the prologue of WoK also questions if he himself is getting worse. If the Heralds are lucid enough, which I think they are, they probably have made the connection that their progressing insanity was triggered by what they did with the Oathpact. Or something along those lines.
  4. Worldhoppers always appear when I least expect it.
  5. Welcome to the Shard, have an upvote. Adding on to what Forgetful said, you should check out coppermind.net and wob.coppermind.net if you haven't already. Coppermind.net is the fan made wiki that holds all the known information about the lore, mythology and workings of Brandons book. The pages are detailed and numerous so it's a fun rabbit hole to get lost in. Wob.coppermind.net is Arcanum which is the database of all Brandons interviews and WoB's(Words of Brandon that he makes about his stories). Small disclaimer, Brandon has said all WoB's and answers to questions he's given are possibly subject to change until they appear in a book. Look forward to seeing you around!

  7. Taking into account all we know of the Heralds, their Honorblades, and the current state of the Oathpact, after Taln returned from Damnation is it possible for someone to bond his Honorblade without is knowledge and or permission? At one point in the past you said Kaladin was going to get another flashbook. That has since changed. What were going to be the flashback's you were going to use if you did write another Kaladin flashback book?
  8. I'm more worried about the 2 arm Hardazian jokes Lopen mentioned but never talked about. And if Adolin ever found his mother's chain. These are the questions that will eat at my soul and spirit web until Book 4.
  9. I've seen it, but it doesn't dispel the possibility that he had it at one point or was the one that made the switch in the first place.

    Vessels

This may be a stupid question but I can't find any specific details about it. We know that if a Vessel dies, the Shard it was holding can live on and remain intact. Has it been stated if the reverse is possible? That a Shard can be splintered or shattered and the vessel can still survive? And if it hasn't been specifically stated, what's your guy's thoughts on the subject?
  11. Welcome to the Shard, have an upvote. If you've read all the books here are some sites you may want to check that are managed by the fandom. This link will take you to Coppermind, the fan made wiki for all information pertaining to the stories Brandon has written. It's basically a encyclopedia for the cosmere and most pages are extremely detailed. If you want a broader understanding of what the cosmere is and it's history, Coppermind is the way to go. This link will take you to Arcanum. Arcanum is a database that holds all the results from interviews, Q&A's and WoB's(Word of Brandon). It's all the documented questions fans have asked Brandon over the years about the worlds of his books. Small disclaimer, Brandon has stated that all WoB's are subject to change at any point and the only true canon is what's in the books. Look forward to seeing you around!
  12. Maybe the Set? Seems to mesh with what little we know of them. At the very least they could have acted as intermediary between Trell and Miles.
  13. Kings of the Wyld by Nicholas Eames was one of those books given to be by friend that sat on my bookshelf for a while. Picked up Sunday morning and it turned into one of those "Why did I wait so long to read this" moments. Truly an awesome book. A nice twist on the grimdark style and in-depth world. It's also hilarious which is sometimes hard to pull off with a darker book. It's around 450 pages with the second book coming out this year. Totally recommend that you pick it up. Essentially it's about a band of warriors that were once heroic and skilled. You know the types. But now they're old, retired and grumpy. Then something happens that they have to come out of retirement. And the book is them trying to re-catch their youth, complaining about having to re-catch in the first place and then bumble their way through. And the entire process is both hilarious and entrancing. I'm giving it an 8/10. Only down tick for me is that it feels over saturated with magical beasts/objects. You'll see what I mean about a chapter into the book. EDIT: Here's the actual backflap summary. "Clay Cooper and his band were once the best of the best -- the meanest, dirtiest, most feared crew of mercenaries this side of the Heartwyld. Their glory days long past, the mercs have grown apart and grown old, fat, drunk - or a combination of the three. Then an ex-bandmate turns up at Clay's door with a plea for help. His daughter Rose is trapped in a city besieged by an enemy one hundred thousand strong and hungry for blood. Rescuing Rose is the kind of mission that only the very brave or the very stupid would sign up for. It's time to get the band back together for one last tour across the Wyld"
  14. Let's be honest, Hoid's personality isn't for everyone. I don't think the animosity is anything significant. I think it falls under the same category as the comment Hoid made about Tanavast "Nice fellow, bought me a drink once". Just a flippant comment to show the reader that there is more behind the curtain when it comes to Hoid. It also doubles as a cosmere easter egg.

    WoB

Totally forgot about this. Thanks for the input, Connects.
  16. Missed that it was a Sleepless cremling Hoid was talking to at the end of WoR. Hoid gaining something in every epilogue. A Cryptic in OB, information from Jasnah in WoR and Taln's Honorblade in WoK(). Cultivation's plan for Dalinar. I thought she was just "cultivating" Dalinar, giving into her Intent and not actually opposing Odium. The clues of Ash possibly becoming a Dustbringer.
  17. In the vision Dalinar states something along the lines of "something was terribly familiar" when talking about the champion. The figure familiar because he's seeing what could be version of himself, and it's foreshadowing the end of the book.. As far as the Unmade is concerned, I think the nine shadows behind the champion just means that they would obey the champion as they obey Odium. It's a type of bond, just not the specific one you're talking about.
  18. I think the wording of that WoB still leaves a lot of wiggle room. "Force that opposes Adonalsium" is different from "A force that is the opposite of Adonalsium". But you could make the argument that the mere fact that the force is opposite of Adonalsium means it inherently opposes Adonal.
  19. For Szeth you can make the argument for several regret related disorders. I think the strongest one would be PTSD. PTSD is such a multifaceted disorder in terms of how it manifests and how people handle it. Szeth checks every box for the disease, more so than any other SA character(Shallan has a pretty severe case of it). Another thing about PTSD is that it can be a gateway to other mental illnesses. Mood disorders, depression, etc. Szeth pretty much has handed his own mortality to Dalinar. This "passing the buck" is a major consequence of PTSD. For Lift it's possible she has some personality disorder(not DID). In ways she refuses to accept reality and lives in her own personal world. That can obviously be dangerous, but it would make for a great healing arc for a book character.
  20. Are you asking is Autonomy influenced modern Vorinism? Because technically they are being guided. Guided by the concept of the "Almighty", and to an extent they are also being guided by the ardents. The ardents assist people with finding their devotary and give advice on how best to follow a devotary. Guiding is a lot different from ordering. I don't think Autonomy was involved. I just think the people saw what the Vorin church was doing and took steps to insure that it wouldn't happen again. The ardents are slaves, it may be a loose version of what a slave is, but I doubt Autonomy would condone slavery of any kind.
  21. I voted for Moash. His actions and the extremes he went to in OB didn't feel justified. Amaram is a close second for me, for already stated reasons. I'm sure it would of been better if we would have gotten a little more info or scenes with Amaram conversing with Odium, but I think if Brandon did do that it would have messed up the pacing. So without that extra look behind the scenes at the process of Amaram's corruption, it just looks rushed.
  22. Just the WoB that reaffirms what Yata said. This link is all the current WoB's about highstorms that are on Arcanum. There's some interesting tidbits on their if you're curious.
  23. Agreed, I didn't explain that well. I'm not saying that they consciously choose one fabrial over another. What I meant is that out of all the "surge" fabrials, Transformation was the one that saw the most use simply due to the fact that it provided food and shelter en masse. Constant use of something will usually just become habitual.
  24. You know you're a Sanderfan when you get caught shouting "TELL ME YOUR SECRETS!" at a snail in a neighbors yard.
