  1. I would, but I don't want to do it on my first ever game. Don't want to screw it up haha.
  2. Hurt Eventeo, Heal Obliteration. Nightwielder - 6 Obliteration - 3 Conflux - 8 Firefight- 6 Megan - 9 David - 10 Mizzy - 10 Elend - 10 God King - 10 Gavilar - 10 Dalinar - 10 Elhokar - 10 Sebarial - 7 Raoden - 7 Eventeo - 4
  3. True, but out of all fabrials we see, Soulcasters are used the most by the vast majority of nations for multiple important tasks. Regardless of what surge fabrials we think would be most important, the use of Transformation fabrials on Roshar is evidence enough which fabrials people thought were the most important.
  4. I would assume because of it's importance to all life on Roshar. Shelter and food are prime hallmarks for survival for any culture. Out of all surge related fabrials, Transformation is the most useful in terms of preserving a population. It has wide spread uses, evidenced multiple times in WoK and WoR during the war on the Shattered Plains. A Progression fabrial would be a close second but healing doesn't matter if the population can't be sustained. In between Desolations it would be vastly important to mass produce resources for humanity. Thus that would be mean that the people would insure the knowledge of Transformation fabrials would be one of the things to last through the generations
  5. I agree with almost all of these, especially Yoda. Only one I don't agree with it Leia, I see her as more of a Windrunner or Stoneward. Han Solo for sure would be a Dustbringer.
  6. I came up with this idea after reading the "Which character would you want to see in the cosmere" topic in the General Brandon area. It's sort of a game that I think will have some cool results. The point is simple, you choose any fictional character, superhero or mythological and try to figure out which Knights Radiant order would best fit that character. I know we don't know much about some of the orders so you can just use how you picture certain orders personally in your head. I'll start it off. Captain America: Windrunners. Batman: Elsecallers. Superman: Windrunners. Flash: Willshapers. Mat from WoT: Willshapers. Kvothe from KKC: Elsecallers. Daenerys from ASoIaF: Bondsmith Dare Devil: Skybreakers. Elodin from KKC: WIllshapers. Jon Snow from ASoIaF: Stonewards. Feel free to also ask opinions of others as to what they order they think a character would be in. I looked, but I'm sorry if this has already been done.
  7. Great idea, I have 4 characters I think would be interesting if they were apart of the cosmere. Two fictional characters, one movie character, and one comic book hero. I'm basing my choices on the assumption they would be involved with the cosmere as whole and not just one specific world. People that would be involved with people like Hoid, the 17th Shard, Silverlight and other worldhoppers. For the fantasy characters I'd first choose Gandalf from LoTR. Seem's like a cliche choice, but I think it'd be super interesting and rewarding. The way Gandalf was written set the tone for the "Powerful old man mentor" trope we see all the time in fantasy. I think if Gandalf were to join the cosmere he would eventually come to hold a Shard or join Hoid in his quest to destroy Rayse. Plus I think his dialogue with people like Sazed and Hoid would lead to some pretty interesting conversations. The second character I'd book would be Tyrion from ASoIaF. Obviously I think Hoid and Tyrion conversations would lead to awesome banter. On top of that it would just be interesting to see someone with Tyrion's mindset in the cosmere. I think he'd join Silverlight and become a great cosmere scholar if he didn't get involved in the politics of the different worlds. For the movie character I'd choose the Joker as portrayed as Heath Ledger. Having a "just to watch the world burn" would be welcomed addition in the cosmere. A villain that has no true goal or actively trying to accomplish a dream. A villain that does what he does simply because he loves chaos. I also think the Heath Ledger Joker picking up the Shard Ruin would make for some interesting events. The comic book hero I'd choose would be Captain America(Captain Cosmere, ba dum tiss). No matter what he always sticking up for what he thinks in right. It'd be a nice addition to have a cosmere wide character that has no agenda but doing the right thing on behalf of the people. A simple character with a dynamic purpose.
  8. I'm defiantly on board. I've never played before, but I've seen something similar. Great idea, pal.
  9. As an aside, Brandon has "confirmed" finally in the State of Sanderson that the Wax and Wayne books will be officially Era 2. Instead of having 3 era's their will now be 4. Era 3 will be an 70-80's spy'ish thriller. Era 4 will presumably be the Sci-Fi era. On topic though, I do think that an important character from Mistborn will eventually show up on-screen in SA. Mistborn and SA are the two post popular cosmere worlds, and the ones with the most lore. Seems logical that will be some small cross overs, as Brandon has stated will be happening more and more as we progress through the cosmere arc. I don't think it'll be Wax, though. My choices would be between Kelsier(very popular within the fandom and would make a great bridge from SA to Mistborn), Marsh(maybe on Sazed's orders), Wayne(I've never been able to shake Wayne's "God Beyond" statement despite WoB's explanations), and lastly Sazed. I think the most likely of the four would be Harmony. We've seen his words already(OB Third Letter), and we know he scares the crap out of Rayse. I could totally see Brandon finally opening the cosmere to cross-overs in the back 5, and have some SA characters travel to Scadrial to ask for Harmony's help.

    Hey!

Welcome to the Shard, bud. As far as the spelling stuff, I had the same problem. Going to Coppermind(fan-made cosmere wiki) really helped with that.
  11. There was a lot of emotional impacts for me, a lot have already been said. Rlain's POV chapter, Elhokar's death, Dalinar and the rift, Wit consoling Shallan, Adolin and Maya's 7 second summoning, Kal in Hearthstone, Odium and Dalinar's first meeting, Unity scene with Dalinar, and that's just off the top of my head. But the number of scenes that hit me the hardest are smaller. Taln's reaction to Ash. Dude. I had to take a breather after this one. We've had three books to lead us to the understanding of just how awful it was for Heralds in Damnation. Ages upon ages of torture. And yeah we find out that only a few years separated the last few Desolations and the way the Stormfather says it is kind of dismissive. Could you imagine being tortured by people that you've been fighting for thousands of years for just an hour, let alone two years? Mind boggling that the Heralds didn't give up after just a month. Knowing that they did it for generations is just insane. Then we have my boy Taln. Dude was never even suppose to be a Herald, just a guy that what's to do the right thing and protect the people from some bullies. Agree's to be tortured for untold thousands of years by his most hated enemies . Then on top of that he knows that his fate is tied to nine other people. Boom, that's bad. That right there is sad enough story as it is. But oh no, it's not over. My dude from humble beginnings gets abandoned by the people that helped shared his burden then GETS TORTURED FOR 4,500 YEARS WHICH IF YOU'RE CURIOUS IS THE ROUGHLY THE SAME AMOUNT OF TIME AS REAL LIFE RECORDED HISTORY(disclaimer, I did not fact check this) And you have to think, the Voidbringers know that all they have to do to get free is to break this guy. After four and half thousand years I think we can safety assume they got creative and progressively more and more sadistic. Thhhhennnn, what does Taln say during one of his few lucid moments after recognizing one of the people that abandoned him? The dude celebrated. Celebrated the fact that the unimaginable torture he went through was worth it because it gave humanity a chance to be prepared. THEN we have think about how Taln has nooooo idea how much of a mess Roshar currently is and how distinctly unprepared everyone was even with advanced(and yes, vague) warning. I don't know about you guys, but if I'm Taln and I just get done with thousands of years of torture in order to give humanity a fighting shot, I'm expecting some well oiled, world wide, advanced coalition of forces and an elite group of warriors trained in the powers of gods that have been training for generations to fight the things a Desolation brings. Simply said, my man needs a hug. Renarin hugging Dalinar in the flashback. For some reason I didn't remember this chapter and when it came on during my listening of the audio book I was in the middle of a 7-11 buying vanilla pudding. Needless to say I traded in my vanilla pudding for some ice cream and jameson. Kaladin watching his parsh and wall guard friends kill each other. Out of all the books I've read I have never felt as hopeless as that scene made me feel. It was just brutally systematic. This post made me sad.
  12. Welcome to the Shard, look forward to seeing you around. I agree with Sovereign, Arcanum Unbounded would be the best next book for you. The new Arcanum intros give a lot of information, it has some really cool art. But mostly it's because of the convenience. All cosmere novella's in one place and it's pretty cool to compare the stories to find cosmere easter eggs. Arcanum Unbounded is also the easiest way to get Mistborn: Secret History. In my opinion it's my favorite novella so far and it even competes with some of the full novels. It is the story with the most cosmere information so far and it's an excellent "peak behind the curtain" book. But if you want to expand your knowledge other than reading the books, you should check out Coppermind and Arcanum. Coppermind is a fan made wiki with extensive and detailed info on all things cosmere. Arcanum is the interview database for pretty much every interview and O&A Brandon has ever done.
  13. I can say honestly that I've learned more about the cosmere and its mechanics from your consistent WoB and theory posts than most forum users on the Shard. You're a big piece of the community in the way you articulate your knowledge and ideas. Cheesy, but whatev's. Thank you, pal, for making the fandom a cooler and more knowledgeable place.
  14. @DalinarsThrill That's mine as well. My second would be pretty much his entire conversation with the Sleepless cremling.
  15. Welcome to the Shard, pal.
  16. A ginger Tyler Joseph. I can roll with that.
  17. Welcome to the Shard and Cosmere fandom! A couple of links that hold a lot of information are Coppermind, the extensive fan-made wiki, and Arcanum the database that holds most every answer to a question Brandon has given concerning his books. Look forward to seeing you around!
  18. Welcome to the Shard and cosmere fandom! The "flash" you see under peoples display names are Reputation titles. As you can see in the bottom right of my post under my signature, there's a little orange box with a darker orange arrow inside of it. That is the "upvote" button. When you come across a post that you enjoy or admire you can "upvote" to show the original poster and other forum users that you liked it. The amount of reputation upvote's a member has depends on what their Reputation Title, or flash will be. For example you have under 5 upvotes so your title is "Spren", i have a fair amount and mine is "Bloodsealer". Titles change after every 10-15 upvotes, until you get farther up the ranks. In the upper ranks have more and more upvotes in between titles. Random example: There is 50 upvotes between the title of "Misting" and "Ghostblood" while only 10 upvotes separate the "Spren" and "Bridgemen" titles. As you're relatively new to the fandom, here are some useful links to gain more knowledge about the cosmere and Brandon's other books. This link will take you to Coppermind. Coppermind is the fan made wiki for all of Brandon Sanderson's books. They're a lot of pages on the wiki so it is filled with a lot of information. Most everything so far mention in the books or by Brandon himself has a page on the wiki. This link will take you to Arcanum. Arcanum is the database that holds all the interviews, Q&A's done by Brandon by the fans. Answers given by Brandon are commonly referred to as "WoB's" or "Words of Brandom. A disclaimer for Arcanum is that Brandon has stated nothing is actuall canon until it is put in the books. That means every WoB is subject to change and retractable. Hope that helped, see you around!
  19. 8/10 times when I post speculation or theories I often have something wrong and or missing. When that happens fellow forum users post and let me know what's wrong or what I'm missing. I fix and learn from the mistake and my knowledge of the cosmere increases. I would much prefer that than living in blissful ignorance. Disagreeing with people simply for the fact that they disagree with me and not actually for the information they provide just seems counterproductive. In the big picture that's pretty much the driving force on what makes these forums so awesome. I've honestly learned as much through conversations and corrections on the Shard as I have reading the novels. I wouldn't have the knowledge level I have now on all things cosmere if it wasn't for people like @Calderis and @RShara giving me corrections or telling me I'm wrong. It's kinda all circular. The old guard helps and assists the new forum users on information they've learned and the new users do the same thing for newer users, and so on. Obviously sometimes it can get frustrating when you find out your wrong or you've missed some crucial piece for a theory. But as with most things, trial and error is one of the most effective ways of learning and expanding your intelligence. Having people disagree with you or correct you aids in that process.
  20. Overall I liked it. Not a fan of some of the things they did, but I do like the new direction they're going in. Creating a new mold for the future Star Wars movies. Favorite Scenes Snoke interrogating Rey. Rey and Kylo fighting the Knights of Ren. Luke throwing the lightsaber right after Rey hands it to him(though I'm sorta in the camp against grumpy Luke) General Hux saying "You think we got him" after Kylo ordered all guns to shoot Luke. Combines with the scene of Luke doing the "dusting his shoulders off" things. Yoda's appearance. Obviously. Rey going to the Dark Side part of the island. I have a tie for my favorite two scenes. One was the Admiral going light speed right into the First Order's ship. The silence right after it and the visuals were simply amazing. Kylo killing Snoke. I 100% did not see that coming and was the plot twist that resonated with me the most. I expected, like most people, that Snoke was going to be the main baddie till the end. Kylo just straight up merking him was a great scene to watch. My least favorite scene was when Leigh was blown up in the bridge, was drifting in outer space then "force floated" to safety. Just so much what and so much nope all wrapped together.
  21. I had totally forgot about the IV training. We had like 5 people faint when they had to do it to themselves.
  22. Thanks for the heads up, I've never realized this before. Luckily though I've been able to use Audible credits for the three Stormlight books. When I saw the 45 dollar price for the OB audiobook it kind of blew my mind. Also, I don't think that being on the cover means Jasnah is somehow connected to Oathbringer, either the sword or the book. Brandon has said before that cover characters won't match up with the books main POV character. He just likes to choose powerful scenes from the book. Eshonai saluting Dalinar after the Battle of the Tower for Way of Kings. Kaladin landing after he saves Dalinar from Szeth's lashings in Words of Radiance. And Jasnah filling the breach in the wall of Thaylen City during the battle.
  23. Welcome to the Shard, I look forward to seeing you around. A piece of advice, stay away from any and all offered baked goods. For some reason every time a new member takes and eats a cookie given on the forums they seem to turn into a whole other person.
  24. I have no idea. I was trying to save face from my lack of strudel knowledge.
