  1. On his mother's side, of course, since his dad's side goes back to Sunmaker. We need to look out for Wayne's daughter now. (We're actually kidding about this, FanofAges. So far as we know, Dalinar has no Scadrian blood in him.)
  2. When you finally have enough cosmere books that you can't fit them all on one Sandershelf, so you make the shelf on the other side of your bed into another one. (Don't know why the photos are sideways, but whatevs). I finally have ten cosmere novels and one cosmere story collection. WEEHEE! Though technically, all of them are my dad's, except for Arcanum Unbounded. He doesn't mind too much that I keep them by me. You're also a Sanderfan when you hope to accidentally meet Brandon Sanderson whenever you go to American Fork.
  3. Yes, this has been mentioned already. I suppose it would be better. ...Now I'm hoping Mistborn Era 3 is gonna use that instead. Forget ettmetal suicide, let's just save that metal for city-leveling bombs!
  4. Woah. Good thinking. I don't know how possible such a thing is through Hemalurgy, but please let this be a thing. That's a really good idea. 'Cause otherwise I don't see how ettmetal can be burned, and we all want to know what Allomantic ability it could provide.
  5. Yes, characters in Brandon Sanderson's books tend to grunt and growl a lot. And frown. And blink. And freeze. It's just Sanderson's writing style, his way of conveying characters' emotion without getting overly descriptive.
  6. I haven't gotten ahold of Dragonsteel. I remember reading it in Mistborn: Secret History... nope, nevermind. Just checked. I think I only know it because I read it on the Coppermind website. No source other than that.
  7. Good. Except not good if you're dying because of it. Please don't, it's bad for your health.
  8. Here's a couple more of mine. And... Glorious. Truly glorious... I think.
  9. Mutant kandra. They were designed specifically to get Wax, so I figure I should be good, right? Would you rather drown in ichor-alcohol or violet wine?
  10. I actually find it to be not so likeable as well, even if it is a good book that I... somewhat enjoyed. That's mainly because I'm turned off by the strong emphasis the book puts on sex and how relevant it is to the story. It just... really bothers me. I feel like Sanderson should know better, or at least keep it at higher standards. So I'd say that yeah, it's my least favorite cosmere novel (with the exception of White Sand, but I haven't even read the whole thing, so that doesn't really count).
  11. What do you get when a percussionist tells a parable? Cymbalism. What do you call Beethoven? Dead! And what's going on when you hear Moonlight Sonata playing backwards in his coffin? He's decomposing! And here's a story I read: “As a bagpiper, I play many gigs. Recently I was asked by a funeral director to play at a grave side service for a homeless man. He had no family or friends, so the service was to be at a pauper’s cemetery in the Kentucky back country. As I was not familiar with the backwoods, I got lost; and being a typical man I didn’t stop for directions. I finally arrived an hour late and saw the funeral guy had evidently gone and the hearse was nowhere in sight. There were only the diggers and crew left and they were eating lunch. I felt badly and apologized to the men for being late. I went to the side of the grave and looked down and the vault lid was already in place. I didn’t know what else to do, so I started to play. The workers put down their lunches and began to gather around. I played out my heart and soul for this man with no family and friends. I played like I’ve never played before for this homeless man. And as I played ‘Amazing Grace’, the workers began to weep. They wept, I wept, we all wept together. When I finished I packed up my bagpipes and started for my car. Though my head hung low my heart was full. As I reached the car door, I heard one of the workers say, ‘I ain’t never heard anything like that, and I been working these septic tanks for ten years.’”
  12. Numuhukumakiaki'aialunamor. So fun to say once you learn how to say and spell it right. Also, Waxillium, Hrathen, Taravangian, and Cephandrius Maxtori.
  13. I don't know for sure if this video has already been posted here, but here goes:
  14. Hmm... I thought Drehy's love interest would be Rial. That's why I thought he was introduced. But hey, that's just me. Agreed. I love Pringles and no one can convince me otherwise and I can't believe anyone could dislike them. (Ahem), I feel the same way about Cinnamon Toast Crunch. How dare you insult my beloved cereal. I like this. I really like this idea. Now I'm hoping for it.
  15. This is one of mine. I meekly ask -- might it have candidacy?
  16. Oathbringer Spoilers
  17. 1. I read Steelheart after my dad spent years recommending Sanderson books to me. Reckoners led to Mistborn and so on and so forth. 2. I love the grand storyline, I love the characters and their developments, I love the magic systems, I love the worldbuilding, I love the plot twists, I love the humor, I love the details, I love so much more, and I pretty much look to Sanderson as a role model for writing. 3. Mistborn and Stormlight are tied in first place, fighting each other for dominance. 4. I'll go with saying 6. I'm not as big a superfan as most of the Sharders on here. I have no special cosmere memorabilia, I've never been to a signing or interview, I've never read any of the books the day they've come out, and I'm not really the most active Sharder. 5. Uh... 9? I mean, have you seen what's on this site? 6. Glad to be a fan. Glad to be a member of this site. Grateful for Brandon Sanderson and all he does. 7. I now have a higher standard of fiction reading for other books to live up to, and I find reading Sanderson books helping my own creative skills.
  18. When reading or hearing the word "limitations" instantly reminds you of Sanderson's Laws of Magic. When the best Kahoot username you've ever used is "Kelsier Kholin". When you've surpassed the person who first recommended Sanderson books to you in reading the cosmere books and just in Sanderfanness in general. I'm talking about my dad. He's not really into the cosmere; he just loves the books for what they are, and he's annoyed by me sometimes when I fanboy about it all. I'm watching at him reread Words of Radiance next to me as I write this.
  19. I can empathize with you. I have been suicidal, and my religion is what keeps me going when I start heading back to that dark place. I see I'm not alone in this. Seriously, me too, guys. If it weren't for my religion, I probably wouldn't be alive today, and if I was, I would likely have been perpetually depressed, antisocial, dispassionate toward others, and addicted to who knows what. Heck, I constantly have suicidal thoughts and feelings of self-loathing even though I am religious. This is why I'm glad to be a member of the LDS Church. It's because of that that I know that none of us are ever alone and that we are all loved. There's always hope for tomorrow and we can find happiness in giving it to others. Knowing these things and trying to live them are part of what's kept me alive. (Sorry if that seemed a little too preachy, everybody.)
  20. Exactly. That's the Shard for you. There's no need to overthink everything. But for some reason, we do it anyway. Edit: Hey, @The One Who Connects, could this maybe be an option for the site's tagline/slogan?
  21. When your professor jokingly tells your class something like "invest in toothpicks" and it registers to you as "Invested toothpicks". When your encouragement to read Brandon's books seemingly pays off. My brother has started reading TFE, one of my best friends has just finished AoL and is now breezing through SoS, and another of my best friends is starting on WoA. When most of the good jokes you have found came from this site. When you think up an entire fanfiction series based on a new Shard and a new Shardworld in about a day because your imagination won't shut up. (I was thinking about the likelihood of a Shard of Equality). When you try painting a soulstamp on a smooth white rock because you can't think of anything else. When you're on the Shard more than pretty much any other website by now. When you passionately hunger for 9:00 AM on Tuesdays. When you think you see Brandon at Walmart but you're disappointed to find out it's just an employee lookalike. When books by other authors kind of disappoint you because they just don't compare. My love for the Michael Vey series is severely diminished because of that. And you know the First Counselor of your ward Bishopric is a Sanderfan when he re-enacts the scene in WoR where It's true. He specifically referred to the book.
  22. NO! Get the Dark Alley and all its assets away from me! Oh, homemade? Well, I guess I can't say no to that. Thanks!
  23. SE, huh? Well, i just checked it out, and... yeesh. I thought roleplaying was complicated.
  24. Ah! You're right! How could I forget about Emperor's Soul? Good catch.
