I just like Baxil. He's very relatable and I found his character quirks (such as frequent short prayers to the Prime Kadasix) amusing and endearing. He also planned to seek out the Nightwatcher so if he pops up we might be able to witness the old magic first hand. He's Emuli so we might even learn more about Tezim the God Kings holy war. It never occurred to me that he might still just be following Ash....it would be nice to see how her crazy behind reacts to the Everstorm and Talns inevitable return.

Right, this is exactly what I wanted from this series. These chapters didn't feel slow for me at all and this is the most I've enjoyed Shallan since.the later parts of Way of Kings. These chapters were so........solid.

I dunno.....Kaladin does owe his fighting ability and super dodging to his bond.

Awakening the Parahmen is absolutely good. However Odium did not have good intentions when doing this. Im sure he is ompy concerned with kindling their wrath at their enslavement.

Kaladin is worse in my opinion. The heck does he know of the Parshendi/Listeners and their culture to become leader of their entire race? He can help them of course but saying he's fit to lead the race because he was a slave for 9 whole months? My word. You know who the best choice is? Tom Cruise. He can be The Last Parshendi I'm sure theyll make use of Kaladins skills and i'm sure a cool guy like Kaladin will sympathize and want to do everything he can to help. Seriously, did the peeps who replied to me actually read the message I was replying to or did the term 'white savior' just trigger a certain group? I'm sure it's being in a state of denial or being unwilling to accept their own truths. Hopefully we have more failed Radiants down the road.

I'm aware that Kal isn't white. Hes not Parshendi though so he still had no business leading them....you don't have to be white to play the part of white savior. Shallash? Herald or Beauty and Patron of Lightweavers? it makes sense that her eyes would be held as significant.....though I thought Ash was anickname used by the heralds and not a common name for her.

I feel that this would render Eshonai's existence entirely pointless. If anyone will lead the Parshendi it's her. If she becomes some sort of wandering radiant Listener champion, then Thude or another can lead them. I'm not a fan of the "white savior."

Exacta. The cryptics planned to create a radiant....they chose Shallan specifically for a reason and Patterns bosses are unlikely to let the matter drop. Syl isn't apart of some spren plan....she just digs Kaladin

Probably a new form? I don't think workform has carapace at all. Also, literally the thing that caught my attention the most here was that we finally learned that Listeners have very thick strands of hair. Dang. Every time Eshonai said "hair strands" in WoR....I was annoyed. Just say hair Eshonai! But now we know their hair is very differently textured, so. I'm a black guy so in my head, I see the Listeners hair as being similar to small plaits or micro braids.

I thought the same. The changes to Shallans personality seems like a magic of its own though it could be that unholy acting talent comes with her mnemonic abilities. None of them are. Theyre the first thing i read but I never learn anything....beyond that writing the book was totally neccessary....like for reals neccessary. Yep. Though truly I felt this would be the case when the description for the book indicated that the Parshmen would be awakened to the horrors of their enslavement.

1- Yes many people, myself included, complained that this happened off screen. There was a lot of telling and not showing in those first chapters. 2- I'm okay with this. It would have been nice to have Skar and Drehy using Stormlight during the Battle of Narak for example but it's fine. The Lopen reveal was sufficient and Teft reported that Bridge 4 used Stormlight during the battle. If being squires allows greater abilities than simple Stormlight absorption, I'm sure we will see it first hand. Yes, they are being held back searching those darn tunnels. Windrunner squires are supposed to be stronger than most so I'm expecting great things from Bridge 4. Yessss, Hobber will pop back up eventually.

This is slightly better than the US cover though it looks less like Jasnah. Both covers look terrible regardless though.
