  1. Yeah putting my vote in for Dustbringers.....they seem like the offensive powerhouses of the radiants They were named as such so as to draw a comparison with voidbringers and their powers are described as dreadful. They have 2 of the more apparently broken surges (ribbon on the wind, division, explosions) and can even leave rock smoldering.
  2. Err, what they said. I'm sure Stormfather was making an objective statement on sapience and not disparagingcertain groups.
  3. Eh, life goes on. Even if i was in a position where I would be massively impacted and not minorly inconvenienced as I am now (south GA resident here)......I would still draw the comparison. Im a fan of the series and its obvious. The timing is incredible. I wonder if Sanderson will focus on the logistics of mass evacuations and disaster relief.
  4. Irma is closer to an Everstorm- no magic and pure chaos I see in not the only one who made this connection though! Stormlight is a fantasy series with a large focus on magical hurricanes and the new book is coming at the same time as these storms are causing havoc in the real world.
  5. Whoah, Windrunners won this poll? How? They really don't seem to be all that powerful. The lashings are useful for trapping and disorienting foes (flying is always useful of course) sure but it's not very destructive or personally harmful. Szeth has an awesome showing but much of that seems to be because no one knows to deal with Surgebinding anymore. Skybreakers are right behind though so that's good....Gravitation plus a non useless surge? Yes! Why walk the wind only when you can walk the wind and crack the sky too?
  6. Clearly. Elokhar is going to make an awesome lightweaver one day. Elokhar: "I'm a terrible king." Cryptic: "Hmmm. This is true" Elokhar: *Explodes with stormlight*
  7. Whooooaaahhh! There's a huge middle ground between doing nothing and committing genocide.
  8. 1. Yes Kaladin was the first and an exception......which means that Captain is now the highest rank to be held by a darkeyes in the Alethi army. Surely we agree? 2. I'm assuming by "functional" you mean that a person in charge of a specifically sized group will hold the position/title of squadleader regardless of official rank? So (assuming Sanderson didnt make a simple error) Kaladin was actually some sort of master sergeant back in the day? Sure?
  9. 1 Exactly. Captain is the highest we've seen. 2 Not sure what you expect me to say here.....In WoR, Kaladin named lieutenants though it might cause controversy. He would have just named them squadleaders if he needed something between serjeant and captain, right?
  10. "Dalinar made me a captain,” Kaladin said. “The highest rank he said he dared commission a darkeyes. Well, I need to come up with a full command structure for a thousand men, and we’re going to need something between sergeant and captain. That means appointing you five as lieutenants. 1- Captain 2- Sargeant 3- No
  11. No man. Adolin bathed and perfumed himself in jail but thought it innapropriate to shave......thats gangster as hell. I actually like Adolin. Not too happy with the "tralalala nothing happened" attitude but he will be getting point of view chapters soon enough. I'm not giving those guys a free pass so much as they've been more fleshed out so that they're easier to relate to. Kaladin was too much of a coward to contact his parents after failing his promise....but he's also tormented by his failures. .....unlike Adolin. "Well whoops, let me go to work. Oh, they found the body? About time! Now let's get this wedding going boyyyssss." Lol. Obviously, Im annoyed with the fallout (or lack of) to the murder of Sadeas' I know, its great. Its WoR where i really became a fan. Take this quote: "He felt as if he had been tossed into a roiling river, one that had burst it's banks following a highstorm. He swam with the current, but could barely keep his he's above water." I love how Moash was given way too much power and far too quickly. He really is clueless as to how to use it properly and was just struggling to find a way to use it to find justice and accomplish his (ultimately selfish) objectives. Now that everything has blown up in his face, who knows how his character will evolve! Will he continue falling and failing or will he become more responsible and reforge himself into something great? And he does have the potential for greatness...we're repeatedly reminded of his body for learning and multiple competencies. Cannot wait for his chapters. Btw, Kaladin is the one who gave permission to Moash and allowed the assassination to reach the point that is did. He thought that he and Kaladin were of one mind and working towards the same goal....it's Kaladin who flip flopped last minute. Moash really had no desire to kill Kaladin and would not have even moved to kill it not for Graves presence.
  12. Right? Its like Ned Stark and Jaime Lannister had a baby....or something......yeah....nvmd that, Dalinars great regardless . >.> Also, you may be right. Even though brutal and ruthless in combat he still seemed like a straightforward dude but who knows how he was when drunk and enraged?
  13. Of course not, and if he did he would own up to it. Anyone else like Moash besides me? I often like it when heroes have dissenters...no one reason he should have immediately put his faith in Kal. I'm really looking forward to his PoV chapters.
  14. Such odd comparisons. Shallan is the only of that group who is a murder and Dalinar is none of the above. No one in that group walks around hunky-dory unlike Adolins cheesing self. If he was a woman they could do an episode of Snapped on him......things will change in sure though. Adolin has shown that he can be brave.
  15. ............no. Morgan Freeman has one of the least intimidating voices on the planet. He sounds like a smooth grandpa. Honor though, was young with a deep voice and Stormfather should sound similar. No really, your theory was great. I totally forgot that the last storm was off schedule, and what you're saying makes sense. Stormfather should have a good reason for being secretive though.
  16. Yes. He's handling the situation like a coward....no need for comparisons. Maybe he will grow a pair though. Time will tell. Smart theory....though it doesnt explain why the weeping stopped and then started again or why Stormfather is being so shifty. Anyone have a good Stormfather voice? I can't hear him at all when I read. I'm sure he should sound black but eh?
  17. Okay, so I had more time to read and got through Dalinars piece: I cannot wait for the he'll Sadeas' wife will sow. Oathbringer I feel should be another historical book. It would be great if related to the Sunmaker Why the he'll isn't the Stormfather sending highstorms? That used to be his entire shtick. Really good to see Elokhar and glad to have it addressed that Dalinar totally snatched his power while he was down (which explains him giving promotions to high princes last week). Friendly reminder: Adolin is a murderer and a coward The Stormfather's form is epic as ever. Can he truly not appear any other way? I wonder what my boys in Bridge 4 are up to?? Especially Sigzil. Theyve been half way promoted from Kingsguard to Radiant Order. On to Kal!
  18. Oh my Gooodddddddd. Kaladin punched this dude in the face! For Moash! !!!!!!!
  19. The Parshendi don't come from a snowy area.....so no.
  20. Ah.....so it was just a pointless association. Got it. i still don't believe dead shard blades change eyes along the lines of orders (they don't grant surges or a true nahel bond so....eh). Time will tell.
  21. So does every darkeyes that we've seen so far as well as...... every human? Again, this seems like a pointless association. Could you clarify you theory?
  22. So you believe that Moashs eyes (which were retconned from green to brown) are the result of a coincidence? How would darkeyes have the same eyes colors available as lighteyes if the colors originate from magic? Truly I don't understand your theory.
  23. Pretty sure the voice was just good old Stormfather pulling out his bone rattling voice. I think Dalimar would notice and comment on some random woman screaming at him out of nowhere.
  24. Whoah! When did that happen?
