  1. I agree that Roshar can't be destroyed BS has said more then once that each series is meant to be self contained. We here at the 17th shard focus too much on the cosmere as a whole and often fail to see the SA as an individual story. but as an individual story the ending must be a positive one... not necessarily happy, just positive. I also expect the ending will give the survivors hope for a future unburdened by the threat of another desolation. Following is my thoughts only: My guess for an ending scene will be Dalinar overlooking a desolated city just as Nahoden was during one of the visions. Some but not all of the Radients may be in other places (Kaladin is back home picking up his fathers practice) some will have died (both his sons). Odium has been splintered. I don't believe we will see a re-binding a la WoT. But he will be permanently out of the picture. The world has been desolated and the efforts to rebuild will be the new focus. As for Hoid he will likely be seen as part bad guy due to his willingness to sacrifice the world to defeat Odium, and this desolation may worse due to his actions, but he will be the "adviser" from Dalinar's vision recommending Dalinar to follow Nahoden's course to write a book of some sort . Any Odium Wins scenario would leave the SA as incomplete waiting for the Mistborn Era 4 and this doesn't accomplish BS's stated goals. and any planet is no longer habitable and mass refugee crisis will bring the SA into the rest of the cosmere to heavily.
  2. Welcome!! Most important question: What kind of takeout and do you want pie with that?
  3. Hey Weird and Crazy are good things and you can get away with it as long as you want. don't let anyone else tell you otherwise.
  4. Curses generally are publically shared/used. They are tied to things we choose to mock and despise, or have religious overtones. While knowledge of and use of non generic greetings are limited to those inside certain groups Notice how "May the force be with you." is only used within the rebellion it almost proves membership in that group. in most of Sanderson's works the primary characters are not part of the groups that would have this sort of greeting as such we do not see them.
  5. Good to know. Where is the first reference to his odd form of immortality? i had always though it was in Liar or Dragonsteel. Dragonsteel is again pre-shattering, At the same time I have also believed his inability to cause harm is tied to his particular brand of healing and one would not exist without the other. So my argument could be flawed as the implications are that his inability is post-shattering in origin.
  6. Most of Hoids powers were his pre-shattering. i won't say he didn't get anything during that event BUT his lightweaving, and healing were both his prior to the shattering. Though of course that is all pre-cannon (my term for the Liar of Partinel information that is not completly cannon anymore) and i don't know what WoBs exist to support/refute it.
  7. Era 4 of Mistborn will deal with FTL. This much has been confirmed. Era 2 i think gives us some hints on how to do it, but Sanderson refuses to give us too much. I suspect aluminum factors in some how; as well as iron, steel, and both time bubbles. Also it was confirmed that you can't even reach zero while storing weight.
  8. I asked the same question to Team Sanderson back in December and yes there will be a seccond printing... the only question is when.
  9. I thought that in WoR it was mentioned that during the initial encounters, blades and plate were seen by the humans. This would lend to the heirloom theory. At the same time any we see summoned likely require a fabril which indicates they were captured. as the parshendi dont use fabrils like the humans do
  10. Ummm Szeth has an Honorblade not a dawnshard ... am I missing something?
  11. @ZeldanSeeing how @Captains Domon "Rank" is the old tongue...
  12. WoB indicates ALL the Heralds are still around, and that we have already seen them all.
  13. I suspected they were worried about Nazh. but I'll need to reread before I can remember why I thought that. The coincidental part likely relates to the fact that the Ire is about to take up a shard. and are worried others might try to beat them to it.
  14. True but the OP was specifically about the first trilogy, not Era 2.
  15. Prof: Two lines give it away While Marsh was once know as Iron eyes it didn't stick, And his powers are known from the beginning... at least his natural ones.
  16. I stick mostly to fantasy, But anything and everything is free game for this in fact i would love to see fiction and non fiction represented.
  17. So this is an odd idea that has wiggled its way through my brain for a while. Imagine you are in a public setting boasting about your greatest adventures what would you say? How would you present yourself? But now imagine you are not limited by the constraints of books (or any other media you are passionate about) being separate. So tell us about your travels and the adventures you have had or are having now. And without further ado: I have flown on the winds of Pern; Sailed the waters of Earth Sea; Trekked across rock and rills of Ulm; Passed through the rifts of Midkemia and Kelewan; And hopped the worlds of the Cosmere. I have mastered the weaves of Saidin; Studied the three arts at the Adventure’s Academy; Wielded white gold in the Land; Survived the dark-after on Austar IV; And feel the old magic of the Wood The old gods of the Greek, Roman, Egyptian, and Norse know me. I am recognized within the faerie and vampire courts. I have paid my respects at the marble tomb on the grounds of Hogwarts. I have held counsel with the High Kings of Prydain, and Narnia; And made friends with the dragons of Chetwin, Fiest, Jordan, Le Guin, McCaffrey, Novik, Paolini, Sanderson, Yep, Yolan, and many others. PS If you have trouble guessing all of the books and series either look at my profile or look up the authors listed. PSS if this has been done before can someone point me in the right direction.
  18. It has some Babylonian / Persian meaning along the lines of "bringer of justice" though my review shows that may be due to the Babylonians abduction of the Israelites. and their influence on the other cultures. The character i am writing uses a shortened version, Tsidiq. Back in October we were expecting our second son and we are only looking at nine-letter names (both mine and my wife's names are nine letters long so we decided to continue the curse) My wife has a baby name app and this was one it suggested, this spelling was the first suggestion but their was at least one other. For those wondering Sebastian (Saber) was born at the first of December, 5 weeks early, by Emergency C-Section. He was released form the NICU the day AFTER Christmas and spent two more weeks on Oxygen. Today he is a morning bug whose favorite pastimes are smiling and trying to play with his 18 month old brother.
  19. I am versed in the Bible, but the name actually came out a search for a name for a character i was developing. I adopted it here before I even realized the Biblical connection. (I primarily use the KJV) It also has some fun mythological connections which I relate to. I study mythology and love finding the influences of this world's stories in literature.
  20. Recently I accepted a new job in the Houston TX area my family and I are so excited. The best part my work is footing 95-100% of the bill to move us down there.
  21. I heard that the Book's title is in reference to the sword itself. Remember shards are described as being covered in runes/glyphs. As a result the glyphs could be classified as a "book" in a nontraditional sense.
  22. No i was thinking that Harmonium could be used as a fuel source for mechanical applications of ALL systems. yes we have really only seen mechanical applications on Scadrial (unless you count fabrials) BUT i believe i saw WoB that would imply all systems are subject to this type of use. And anyone who tries to eat Harmonium should be eligible for a Darwin Award in my opinion (unless there is collateral casualties.), or what ever Silverlight calls the same concept.
  23. It should be noted that the Grey Men, Traveling and even the nature of the One power are based on reoccurring themes in Fantasy, mythology, religion, folklore, etc. As such i wouldn't be surprised if we see elements that the Wheel of Time fan base will point to and say RJ influenced that. but at the same time i can see influences from Pern, Austar IV, Earthsea, Kelewan, Prydain, Ulm, and others. That being said, i agree BS will be a bit more mindful of the WoT influences as he activly participated in that world. I personally believe that duralumin stores connections specifically so I could store my connection to @NamelessThirteenth but my connection to @Pagerunner would still intact. and regional connection would again be stored separately. This idea comes form how each sense has to be stored separately. So while ninja would be possible it would require a number of metal minds. and knowledge of who you want to hide from.
  24. I second Ten Soon. Though i do get more of a Rose empire or Vorin vibe from the picture... Ashravan, or Gavilar maybe. But over all Ten Soon would be highly appropriate.
