Most people who gained shardplate probably had to adjust their fighting style to compensate since I doubt most shardholders gained the shardplate then learned how to fight. As such, I don't see why Kaladin would have a problem with adjusting, unless you think that he's so ingrained into his current fighting style he would be completely unable to adjust it, despite us knowing that he's capable of learning new fighting styles.

Ah, good point. Then yes, I guess you don't need to be Eighth Heightening to break commands, it's just a lot easier if you are. Chances are that the knowledge of command breaking originate from someone of Eighth Heightening, but yeah, they probably don't have one on staff for the priests. Possibly, except that the interaction of colour isn't an investiture-significant part of awakening. As such, I don't think pulling colour from blood would have any special interactions, assuming the the properties of essences with regards to the Soulcasting are related to other manifestations of investiture.

None of the teams are named after colours. They're named after objects with a distinctive colour which has since been used to name a shade of a colour. Juniper is green, ruby is red, coffee is brown, cardinal is red, I guess sun is yellow, etc.

I was referring to the First Desolation. It obviously occurred for some reason, but since Odium didn't need it to kill Honor, it, and the cycle of Desolations, must have started for some other reason. Defeating the Heralds seems like a fair point of reason.

No one read Erfworld? I find it to be extremely entertaining, besides Order of the Stick.

From what I've read about those in shardplate, it doesn't really prevent fluidity at all. In fact, it is reputed to increase dexterity. There is no reason why wearing shardplate would make Kaladin any less effective of a fighter. Relevant quote: I can find more if you're not convinced.

1. It probably does require Command Breaking of the Eighth Heightening. My opinion is that the memory tampering Vasher did with breath was related to Command Breaking. 2. Eki explained it well enough. 3. Color in blood is from the red blood cells. If he pulls the color from that, it would be mainly see through, since plasma is mostly composed of water, if I remember biology correctly. The grey probably doesn't make as much of an impact as red with regards to blood so it looks translucent.

The earrings were made from killing someone. They're all recast inquisitor spikes.

Size and scope of my current world building project.
Spoolofwhool replied to Tsidqiyah's topic in Creator's Corner
Well, if you're looking at a world with technology approximate to the Elizabethan Era, and whether the lake is really possible for quick crossings, consider what naval speeds were possible at the technological level as well navigation techniques and consider whether they would be applicable. Now, I did some research on the matter, and after a quick googling, I found that the it appears that a good speed for a ship at that time is about 7-9 knots. This would give 10.359 mph at best, aroundbouts. This would mean that it would take about 80 days to cross the lake straight through, assuming a good speed, keeping a straight course, and no weather delays, all of which I'm assuming to be possible. So, I wouldn't say it is too unrealistic. However, considering how much trouble people had initially with sailing to North America from Britain, the longer distance might prove to be interesting. Now navigation would be a lot more tricky, and would probably require some imagination. At that time, navigation was performed primarily using a magnetic compass and reference positioning using the North Star and the horizon. As such, for this world, for either method to be possible, you need some sort of easily found celestial body which occupies a set position most of the time, and a magnetic north, or something of the like. Now, both are imprecise. However, if you established a North/South Star and an East/West Star, then navigation would be fairly precise. Otherwise, there would be a fair amount of imprecisions. Magnetic compass isn't very good because it just gives direction, not positioning. Anyhow, some food for thought when it comes to designing the navigation. -

The Legendary Stubborness of the Stonewards
Spoolofwhool replied to DrakeMarshall's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I think he's pulling from the Ten Essence table, soulcasting properties. Maybe? Because Stone is the property of 9, Tanat, and Smoke is the property of 2, Nan. I don't see how this follows at all since Blood is the property of 6, Shash, and I don't think Pattern looks like blood. I suppose it does hold, very vaguely, for 1, Jez, which is Air, 4, Vev, which is Crystal, and 7, Betab, which is Oil, since Syl is kind of looking like air, Wyndle has crystal studs and Ivory could look like oil? This honestly very weak to me, but the only connections I could find. As such, I don't think it really is necessary that Stoneward spren look like stone and Skybreaker spren look like smoke. -
Please. Grammar, and most importantly, spelling. I can't tell what the second half of your first sentence means and I'm only partially convinced the first half is suppose to be "Kaladin never puts on a full set of shard plate" From what I do understand of your post, I don't see anything which supports your previous statement of Kaladin not liking the idea of wearing shardplate. Really, the only issue he has with it is the association with shardblades and his dislike of shardblades. As such, now that he he's more willing to use shardblades, particularly since he has one which doesn't scream, there's nothing that seems to indicate that he would be adverse to using plate.

Signed book - Adonalsium question answered

Another advantage is that it could be done without tapping, so both Skimmers would end the day with full metalminds as well. True, but they would probably be paid really well. Might not even require feruchemists or allomancers even. If medallion production becomes cheap enough, then companies could just hire a whole bunch regular people, give them medallions and have them to do the repetitive work required. That way energy production would become cheap, people with weak skillsets get paid, and mistings and ferrings are free to perform in more advanced which requires a more skilled touch in the metallic arts.

Another question is where the force that's changing the kinetic energy is originating from. Normally in conservation of momentum questions, you have two bodies hitting each other and sticking, or explosions separating things, so the force is from that, but here mass is just... appearing... so the force would just be appearing as well, from some where. So weird. Probably the magic compensates.

Nightblood probably makes the wielder immune to most applied-investiture attacks like lashings, since it would just consume the infused investiture. So no adhesion or gravity surgebindings directly against Szeth would work, division probably wouldn't work either. Not sure about others. Would Nightblood be able to suck in stormlight from a distance though? (Warbreaker spoilers) So as long as they stay a distance, they would be fine. Not sure whether it would be okay to block Nightblood with an Honorblade though.

The Shard could be on Threnody, but not invested into it. Without investing into Threnody, there would be no Manifestation of Investiture for people to use. Shades are a natural product of Threnody's investiture. They aren't the result of a shard investing into Threnody as it is a minor shardworld and therefore has no shards invested in it.

There was life on the planet before Cultivation arrived so I don't see why killing Cultivation would kill all life, unless you're thinking that Rosharan life has evolved to be dependent on Cultivation's power?
-
I'm fairly certain that while this would greatly decrease your velocity, the force applied to your body in the process would more than likely kill you. This is because while momentum is conserved so mv(initial) = mv(final), kinetic energy would not be conserved since 0.5mv^2initial =/= 0.5 mv^2 final, and the change in kinetic energy would be the result of a force on the body. Increased mass wouldn't increase how quickly you fall since acceleration due to gravity is always constant, without taking air resistance into account. For theoretical applications, mass is independent.

Stormlight regrowth and (Mistborn spoiler) don't prevent aging probably because they are based on cognitive. Most people cognitively view themselves as aging over the course of their life. As such, neitherStormlight nor the other method would be able to repair changes from age because people see those changes as being a part of them, much in the same that Kaladin sees his slave brand as being a part of him such that he cannot heal it with stormlight, while rejecting the tattoo which would cover it.

So they knew the Last Desolation wasn't actually the Last Desolation, but didn't bother telling anyone of this before they went ahead and broke their oaths. This feels fairly unlikely. Even if they were selfish enough to protect themselves from being possible sacrifices if another Desolation suddenly came about, why would they have left no warning to the people, telling them not to accept the Nahel Bond from spren again in order to ensure that sort of mass sacrifice didn't come about again. You're assuming that the Desolation didn't begin because of the Heralds. Personally, I have a theory that, as you said, the Heralds were teaching, leading and protecting Rosharans, but this is because of the Oathpact. Honor gave them power, surgebinding through the Honorblades, as well as knowledge, so that they could guide the people. As long as they did their duty of guiding and protecting, the Oathpact held. However, when Odium arrived in the Greater Roshar System and because ensnared by the Oathpact, he realized that the only way he could leave would be if he broke it, by forcing the Heralds to fail. Thus the Desolations, with the intent of either killing all the Heralds, therefore causing them to fail in their protection, or just kill everyone else if the Heralds chose not to fight. I guess by this theory that you are correct then, that the Heralds staying out of it would've caused Odium to not devastate Roshar repeatedly, because he would've broken the Oathpact with the First Desolation. Another point, if the Desolations are so useless in Odium achieving his goal of splintering Honor and Cultivation, for what reason would the True Desolation be occurring? Also, why hasn't he managed to kill Cultivation in the millennia since killing Honor, since, as according to your theory, there are no more humans or Heralds screening her from him.
