  1. I prefer sub most of the time. The only times i would enjoy dub more than sub when the theme/setting of the anime is more western than anything else(like Cowboy Bebop for instance). It just feels like emotional portrayal matches more with the japanese voice actors/actresses more than the foreign ones.
  2. LMAO Another point is that Kelsier also thought at the Final Empire that the Inquisition got to Marsh(aka he also thought his brother is dead). So both of them(Marsh and Kelsier) at some point thought somebody killed their brother.
  3. Interesting WoB. The question is that who are smuggling these shardblades out of Roshar.
  4. If there were ever savants then it should be the heralds as they're the longest living surgebinders. Seems like they are fine without stormlight so it might actually be that surgebinding savantism isn't as bad as allomantic savantism(Tin savantism was awful).
  5. I read his WoB's about Ingenuity as "it is not yet the right time to confirm Ingenuity"
  6. Also my headcannon but he came for the girl stayed for the people. Taln ma boi
  7. I would say they had different advantages It honestly didn't seem like Harmony was nagging on the northerners to me. It felt like Harmony was just making a comparison and reflecting on his mistake on giving too much.
  8. Seeing those images from Oathbringer reminds me that Sanderson likes Final Fantasy which also coincidentally has lots of flying ships. Flying ships would be a welcome addition to Stormlight Archives(i like flying ships regardless) regardless if they are powered in a technological way or Radiant way.
  9. Damaging seems very losely used like Sanderson could've meant that it can damage but probably like just a crack in a giant field of ice kind of damage. I really highly doubt Nightblood while the most invested thing compares to a Shard can actually be a key to killing a shard. Maybe weaken a bit. Regarding this thread. I think Vyre vs Kaladin confrontation in inevitable but i think Szeth will be the one who will kill Vyre (they basically mirror as Vyre has both a permadeath weapon and a shardblade which Szeth do as well have but much more powerful versions of it)
  10. Granted. You also become the fastest talker alive and you can barely slow it down which kinda annoying/troublesome for you and other people talking to you. I want to be the most productive person ever
  11. You will know enough i suppose (but not clearly) with the combination of BoM and WoB's.
  12. He was complaining about making things too easy that gave complacent progression for the Southern Scadrial. Like they're supposed to have radio technology 1 century ago(that's a huge technological delay especially in the eyes of a deity) and agriculture is unpracticed i believe(because everything is too fertile). Exploration and discovery comes when people are in need or lacking something. It does not happen when they're content and that they have everything they need. Those obstacles mean nothing if the region would need something from another region. That's how human nature works. How do you know that wasn't Sazed's plan in the first place ? Shards literally manipulate events and people without people involved even knowing it(i doubt that even Kelsier would know about it if Sazed really moves him like a piece in a board). I wouldn't even be surprised if Kelsier himself didn't know that Kelsier helping the Southerners was possibly Sazed's preferred future possibility. Pretty sure he saw that future where Kelsier helped the Northerners from a mile away. You should already even have a clue about this assuming you read other Cosmere series that Shards can make it look like people are doing it on their own when they manipulated the events/people to get to that point where some person started doing stuff for them We don't even know how they had access to Harmonium in the first place. That's probably even a longterm plan by Sazed why they have access to it. He is making a comparison to the societal advancement why he thinks he shouldn't have given auto-food lands to the northerners. By having everything they need on the same place they weren't motivated to go away while Southerners who had it rough(i doubt it wasn't his plan to have Kelsier there at the right time .. he is a shard remember) he probably gave them the means to survive. Another key-point to remember is that Harmony is not just preservation. People seems to think he just supposed to protect/help people and if he doesn't do that it is his fault. He is also equally Ruin. He urges things to die, suffer and change. People dying for the better doesn't necessarily mean bad for him (remember how the last Ruin tried to obliterate everything yah) He doesn't have to be fair to anybody. He is basically their god. They got lucky their god even cares about them
  13. Sanderson isn't popular here. Chicklit has more audience here I tried to get my friends into Mistborn they read up to book 2 only. My other friend became a fan of Will Wight instead(I recommended her mistborn and travelers gate.. She finished the latter not the former) So everybody I talk about Sanderson novels are from online.
  14. Amen to that. I always pictures them as really talled, buffed and railroadspikes(not just spikes but those giant spikes) in their eyes. Nothing will ever convince me otherwise. Also Vin was Ellen page to my mental image. And Kelsier was never blonde lol
  15. He already represent the name and power of honor ( Odium mentioning it, him ascending briefly and the perpendicularity thing made that clear ). He is literally the more important than the heralds( he can release Odium)
  16. Exactly . Aside from being unfeasible in the eyes of the public. It is double role I mean you can't lead a country while leading the fight against the god of hate.
  17. I like the idea but pretty sure Endowment's investiture isn't special(just like every other shard investiture like it all depends on the intent allows and skill of usage) but tweak that abit it sounds alot like Endowment. I feel like you are close to the right idea. Ruin investiture went in because of the Ruinous intent(I don't think it is not possible)
  18. Later era Mistborn is meant to be cosmere centered. Stormlight Archives is meant to be self-contained. Hell most Cosmere series are self-contained
  19. Sanderson already said that Stormlight will only be cosmere-related not a Cosmere centered. Stormlight is supposed to be able to survive standalone even without Cosmere knowledge so if Autonomy was ever the bigbad she should've been introduced from the beginning as a big player. Autonomy appearing out of nowhere when he was not established and the scope of Stormlight only involves Roshar in general would be the very definition of badwriting Like this rust is done in manga/anime so commonly.
  20. I highly doubt that much Ruin investiture is on nightblood. That was literally equivalent to preservation giving sapience to Scadrians literally an entire race. Also Sazed has never willed himself into another planet that means he never worldhopped which would imply that Endowment has to be the one who would go to Scadrial which doesn't make sense cause Endowment is one of those who hasn't mingled with another shard(process of elimination on the oathbringer letters). Such cooperation would also imply that Sazed should already know the history of the shards/yolen/adonalsium which he still seeks Besides Nightblood was made before the events proper of Stormlight Archives which was like even before Warbreaker(Manywar)
  21. Read Tarnsman of Gor by John Norman(yes the infamous Gor with slavery that made an entire subgenre) and Lunatic Cafe by Laurell K. Hamilton(yes the Anita Blake series before it went full erotica) I am definitely not the target market for either books(I brought them so why the hell not .. They're fast enough read anyways) but I can understand the appeal for either. What surprised me is that Gor(1st book) isn't actually too crazy about the sexual slavery(it was famous for this). It was too vanilla for its reputation(other portrayal of slavery in other fantasy is actually much much more cruel). Maybe it does get worse later but not on the first book(maybe if I stumble upon the 2nd book I would find out) About to read Tigana by Guy Gavrial Kay and Edge of Destiny(guildwars book but I've never played the game so time to get confused reading it)
  22. Agree with Siri on classical Scadrial and Elend on Roshar would do poorly. Kaladin would also do poorly on classical Scadrial.
  23. Steel Compounding for combat and just general awesome applications(you are literally discount flash that can fly). Zinc compounding if you wanted something really useful in real life(imagine the capacity to riot and have unlimited mental speed like you are highpowered Bobby Fischer on all things not just chess). That would be really useful in the modern world. Double Atium might be cheating but has immortality and almost like having future sight.
  24. @SLNC what Calderis said. Add to the point that he doesn't even have a hate relationship with his father which is usually a reason characters in fiction stand-up to their parent. That's not it he supports his father's dreams/claims even when he himself does not believe them. He respects his father's opinion so much that he feels shame for murdering Sadeas as Dalinar would not approve of it the way he approached it. So he told Shallan a secret he can't even tell his family and stood up against his father on his decision to make him King (not even Elhokar alive was standing up to Dalinar lol).
  25. Ruin wasn't also just about physical deaths but all kinds of change of state and deaths like marriages(end of maiden/bachelor life), festivals (the end of routinary and change to much celebrative mood and actions for people). Ruin doesn't necessarily have act like how Ati did. It had to depend on the vessel and how he interprets Ruin(weird how all Ruin vessel so far are kind people for the shard of death) A shard(not just a splinter) can definitely gain sentience/sapience under the right condition as vessel-less. Yeah shards aren't evil but I can see the possibility of one negative-oriented(Dominion/Ruin/something that can go insane without the correct vessel) became vessel-less and gain its own mind eventually.
