  1. Though pre-game discussion isn't forbidden, might I suggest we leave this discussion till C1? There'll be little enough to discus in C1 without all the strategizing getting done pre-game .
  2. Right, signing up as Tom Kress for this one. He was a pro-alien lobyist, but had to leave his political career after the news of aliens infiltrating human society broke and his motivations suddenly be came the subject of suspicion. He is, however, convinced that this is nothing more than a slanderous story made up by xenophobic activists, and intends to prove this. edit: @Sart, how long are the cycles, and are PM's allowed? edit2: if someone is killed by hitting a cytonic defense, is it revealed who was the defender?
  3. I read that as the real Jeeves and Schitzo still being captured by changelings, and these two being changelings that have replaced them. This was a draw after all, so it shouldn't all go the pony's way.
  4. Great write-up Hero, and it's nice to see my suggestion was of some use to you. Anyway, some random thoughts: Great game everyone! Apologies to the holders of elements I helped lynch at the start of the game . It was funny to read the elim doc and see the reaction to my suggested scanning method. I hope our new players enjoyed themselves and will be participating in further games. Has your cat returned yet, @Herowannabe?
  5. @Cluny the Scourge, to get it on the list, you'd have to contact any of the board moderators (Wilson, Alvron, Metacognition and Gamma fiend). I'd contact Wilson or Alvron, as they are most active, in my experience. However, you need a GM for it to be put there, as you can't just submit a concept without someone to run it(I think. someone correct me if I'm wrong). Anyway, on to the rule-set. This looks very interesting at first glance, and at this point I mostly have questions, and no real balance-related comments. Regarding your rule-set, you reference to 'days' and ' nights', but you don't ention how that works? Is there one 24-hour day cycle and one 24-hour night cycle? Also, what amde you decide for the long rolll-over? Most games only have a couple of hours (LG33 was an exception, due to its extreme complexity). Long-games also usually have cycle times between 48 and 72 hours (which a 24-hour day and a 24-hour night cycle would meet). Can the LP use multiple actions at once? You probably want multiple actions, or some other mechanic for interrogation, as the village is really dependent on getting information from their lynches. Also, based on the rules here and for the Marlfoxes, it seems you are either planning a game with very few villagers, or with a large amount of participants. What would the minimum amount of players be that you would need to run the game? Why exactly did you decide to give each player two votes? Unless you get lynched, getting voted on doesn't seem to have an effect, so the only reason to do so would be to diminish the impact of the wise old mouse and Vole roles. Was that your intention? As I said before, this looks quite interesting, and I'll look forward to playing it once it has been fully fleshed out.
  6. You'd definitely said some suspicious things, but at the same time, some of your comments where things I'd personally not associate with elims at all. So yes, in a way it did keep you alive for almost the entire game.
  7. Nah, I only made 64 posts while I was alive according to the sheet. That means I made only around 10% of the total posts. But yes, this was a nice game, with some complicated but interesting rules, and I'll definitely take part in the re-run, provided my time allows it.
  8. @Ecthelion III, should I actually drop that first suggestion? I can't really tell whether you're joking or not .
  9. Okay, thanks for the answer Elenion/ecth. I haven't seen a role like the scribe before, so I've got a couple more questions/ways to potentially break it. First, should the message be in english, or could the scribe use another language if it allows for more information to be put into 100 characters? I'm specifically thinking of tricks like google-translating it to Japanese or Mandarin, as that should cut down on the character count (Actually, does the forum support those languages? let me check: 我很怀疑). Second, it isn't mentioned in the rules that the message is posted with the write-up. Is that an oversight, or will the GM try to post the message at the earliest opportunity (including in the middle of a cycle). Third, is it mentioned who wrote which message? If there are multiple dead scribes with differing alignments, anonymous messages could result in some interesting situations.
  10. Looks interesting, @Elenion. I've got a question about the scribe though. Their message can be written post-mortem, so I assume they won't get access to the dead-doc untill they submit it? Also, is there a time limit on submitting it? If a scribe gets killed C1, could he publish sometime in the end-game? Edit: also is the nobleman doc anonymous, or not?
  11. @Shqueeves. Yes, there is. It's linked in the general rules and etiquette policy topic (the link labelled 'signup list'). For quick access, here's the link again: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/10eY-eav-QUybT-V0prX2t0zjhba_IYD-DSDX_uxxQ38/edit#gid=46014783 .
  12. Hmmm, an idea for a win-condition for the limited god would be that he/she wants to be a king-maker. That is, you want to have the game end with yourself, 1 villager and 1 elim left. This in and of itself is tricky enough that you could probably drop all other restrictions. Suddenly, the god wants to keep his identity a secret,a s neither faction wants him to get close to achieving his goal. He also wants to be very careful with his knowledge, as he doesn't want either side to win too early.
  13. I assume the god has a unique win condition? As a village god would end the game in one cycle (plus a couple more to mop up, but that would just be voting, nothing more), no matter which restrictions he gets (the only tricky one would be palindromes, every other one could be circumvented to get the list of elims out).
  14. This looks interesting. It's not immediately clear from the wording, but is the saboteur one player, or a faction that needs to get out in its entirety to blow the ship?
  15. It's fine, I didn't think you where trying to pawn of responsibility for your vote on me, I just wanted to make sure you understood that, despite how logical and collected I might sound, I make mistakes. I just hate the idea of people thinking "Randuir is really good at this, so let's follow his lead", because I don't think I'm that good. Anyway, to everyone else, only 4 out of 18 people have voted so far. This game is not role-madness, where you can rely on the applications of roles to sort everything out. People need to voice opinions and vote to generate enough information to catch the elims. I'm going to bed now. Hopefully I'll see you guys next cycle. Otherwise I'll be in the dead doc, judging everyone's calls and commentating on all decisions Vote tally: Jondesu (0): PK Frozen Mint(3): Jondesu, Randuir, Bridge boy
  16. Just saying Bridge boy, but I don't think you should lynch someone just because I think they might be an elim. I've been wrong many more times than I've been right (I helped lynch you C1 in QF23, remember?), and though I tend to have some decent insights in the late game, I wouldn't say the same for the early game. You shouldn't worry about offending people in SE as long as you keep the conversation related to the game, so don't play against the player (don't say "I think you are stupid"), but play against their arguments (say "This doesn't make sense because of xyz") and you will be fine. So please, speak your mind and detail your suspicions. If you're suspicious of someone, tell the thread and vote on them. You're not going to hurt anyone's feelings by doing that, even if you're wrong, as long as you apply some argumentation and are courteous about it.
  17. That's not the reason I've voted on her (as you can see in the relevant post), and Jondesu has also provided reasoning for his vote. If you see anything that indicates a grudge from a previous game is being perpetuated, please call the relevant people out. However, most people appreciate a good play, and all it does is make them pay more attention to that person in the future. If you think Frozen is innocent, you should try to address the accusations leveled at her, or provide us with an alternative.
  18. I'm going to be adding another vote to Frozen Mint. I don't have many leads yet, but something she(?) said in C1 (see page 8 of the combined thread) stood out to me(emphasis mine): Comments like this are major red flags, as they suggest that someone is already aware of someone's alignment and making plans for using the lynch of a villager against the others that participated in the lynch. Comments like this are also quite strange for a villager to make. After all, if you suspect there's foul play going on with a lynch, why would you participate in it? And if you don't suspect that, why threaten the other players who apparently share your suspicion? There's also one other thing I've noticed. The past couple of games I've participated in (specifically: QF23 and MR21) started with the elims going after some of the more low-profile players, and leaving most of the higher-profile players (people like, for example, a Joe in the bush) alive till the end. In each of those games, a significant portion of the elim team consisted of high-profile players. However, this game started out with a kill on a fairly high-profile player, which makes me wonder if the elims might consist of more low-profile players. I'd initially intended to not bring this up until I could point at more than one kill to make my point, but if I'm right I'm probably going to go down soon as well, so I might as well point it out now. Vote tally: Jodnesu(0): PK Frozen mint(2): Jondesu, Randuir
  19. Just wanted to point out that this is a bit of a borderline legal use of blue text. I'm fine with it, but you aren't really supposed to use it for anything other than announcing you're going to be inactive for some RL reason (or something else that affects your ability to play in some way), or to talk about a techncial issue that makes you look guilty (FE: "The website might have said I was online at 3AM, when the suspicious elim activity happened, but I couldn't have been because I'm sleeping"). A quick recap of the rules regarding blue text from the subforum rules:
  20. HH, could you give some examples maybe? Might save me the trouble of having to go through the thread again.
  21. I don't think it's that, as I've had high post-counts in games without appearing suspicious (I once accounted for 10% of the posts (while I was still alive) in a 24 man game). I'll give your posts a look over in a bit to see if I can spot something, but it might just be that Jondesu is naturally suspicious of new players after someone(I'm talking about Frozen Mint, of course) managed to fool just about everyone until the end of the game in his first game. I don't expect Jondesu to vote on you without explaining what has made you look suspicious, though, so I wouldn't worry about it too much until he actually makes an accusation (unless you are an elim, then you should definitely start worrying ).
  22. But wouldn't an elim be able to ask that question in the PM or elim doc? Actually, @Herowannabe, the rules don't explicitly mention the existence of an elim doc. Is my assumption that they have one anyway correct? Is there a rule forbidding asking questions in another location than the thread?
  23. Thanks for the input, Brightness! This is indeed a risk, though a pretty low one. As frozen Mint pointed out, not everyone cleared this way should be considered confirmed good, just more likely to be a villager. Yeah, we shouldn't pass it on to people that aren't as active for now. There is always the risk of an elim claiming to have passed it on someone, and that person denying it. Worst case scenario: we'll lynch 1 village and 1 elim pony. I don't think it'll come to that though, because as was pointed out, the elim has to pass it on, so a false claim is contradicted by two people, not just one. Hmmm, good point. though at that point there are two persons who know they have the element, and I'm pretty certain an elim would use the 'I have an element' card to avoid getting lynched, even if the one who gave it doesn't speak up. This would mean we probably avoid that. @Herowannabe, can the elims kidnap another elim? Even if they can, I don't thin this'll be a good trade for them in most cases, unless generosity is the last remaining element. Hero, could you answer that question? At that point, you could decide to pass it back to someone that had already had it. we wouldn't get info, but we would confound any elim attempts to get it. Anyway, we should vote on someone this cycle, as otherwise the element of generosity leaves play this cycle, and my plan will come to nothing. I beleive the current satet of voting as as follows: Vote tally Jondesu(0): Paranoid King So only Jondesu has a vote on him (if I'm not mistaken), and he's an earth pony. If nothing else, I'm not against lynching an inactive, I'd just rather not do that because: No one has been inacitve for more than a cycle yet (I think). lynching inactives does not get us that much info. @Hemalurgic_Headshot, @Crimsn-Wolf, @DroughtBringer, @Quiver, @Jedal, @Ecthelion III, is there anything you guys would like to add?
  24. Okay, I've got an idea that would potentially give us a way to use the element of generosity to scan for elims. It's late here, so please check over the proposed theory for weaknesses. The holders must make sure to always pas it on immediately. The old holder will announce who they are, 2 cycles after they passed it on, as well as to who they passed it on (this means that the one that received it would also have already passed it on). The next cycle, the person that had received it mentions who they passed it on to (again, this newly announced person would already have passed it on further). The moment someone can't accurately claim to who they passed the element, we know we've found an elim. The one major risk I see s that the elims would attack whoever the newly announced holder is to break the chain. Such a tactic would guarantee that they'd never be able to catch the element of generosity, but they might catch the holders of other elements. So, what are your thoughts? Did I miss anything (quite likely, as I am quite tired right now)? Any other suggestions? Edit: So, just to quickly recap: the holder of the element of generosity announces himself and whoever he/she passed the element onto, but only once the one they'd given the element to has had a chance to pass it on themselves.
  25. @Herowannabe, I've got two questions. Can the element of generosity be given to ponies that already have an element? Can a changeling exercise any influence on where the element of generosity is sent if he had it, or is it completely random (rules seem to indicate random, but I wanted to make sure)?
