  1. The other major clue is Okay, first, you don't know the murderer's gender! Second, there's no indication a bladed weapon was involved! Third, the other important clue is that all this happened on Sel! Sellish murder weapons Aon Sheo Martial arts (the most notable appearance of (unarmed) martial arts in the cosmere is on Sel) Dreok's Axe Jeskeri cult ritual Aon Daa Aon Ehe Essence marks Dakhor ritual Bloodsealing Sellish evidence Aonic dictionary Bloodseal Elantrian Slime Skaze Piece of Ralkalest Soulstone Shu-dereth pendant The murderer will likely have a thing from at least one of these two categories.
  2. I'm no expert, but when I think explosion, I think a short, sharp 'bang', not a rolling thunder or whatever, though it might sound like that at a longer distance I suppose. edit: ninja'd by PK
  3. Why are you dropping explosion for this reason? A 'sudden sound' is actually part of the provided hints.
  4. ...First of all, do you even know the gender of the victim? And second of all, how does this gravelly-voiced stuff help solve the crime? Here, watch this. Methods matching accident (and not matching nay of the other options) Aon Shao Ettmetal explosion Essence marks Rioting explosion fire (maybe) Smoke (maybe) Shades (maybe) Aon ehe (maybe) Booby trap (maybe) I've got shades as a maybe mostly because there shouldn't be any on Sell. Smoke, Aon Ehe and Fire could all be considered an accident, but are probably better reflected by severe injury or suffocation. Booby trap might fit, but if you're placing booby traps, you're not trying to accidentally hurt someone. Aon Shao is an illusion, and I can see how a poorly timed illusion results in an accidental death. Same goes for the two flavors of explosion, while an essence mark failing at the wrong time could also cause an accidental death due to failing equipment or a fallng bridge or something. Rioting could start a literal riot or a stampede or something else in which the victim is collateral damage. ...you are the worst.
  5. Note to self: Metaspren might be new, but sounds very dangerous. ...seriously? That's how you're going to play this?
  6. ...What are you doing? ...You're doing the noir detective narrator thing. Stop doing the noir detective narrator thing! Seriously? That sentence didn't even make any sense. If a mystery has sunk its claws into you, you don't get to decide whether you let go, as you're not holding anything! Seriously, stop tapping that bloody unsealed Aluminium mind already!
  7. I really shouldn't join. I've been rather busy irl these past couple of months, and I'm already playing in the QF, and playing more than one game at a time definitely isn't a good idea. This also seems like a great game for RP, which I enjoy doing, but takes up a lot of time. Sign me up as pinch-hitter, or one of the 25 if we don't reach 25 participants.
  8. It isn't, but fifth scholar (oops, sorry @Steeldancer) mentioned maybe chaning that.
  9. In the thread I try to post the things I'd be posting if I was a villager, irrespective of my alignment. I try to avoid giving my team-mates preferential treatment, as that's just going to get more elims lynched if one of us goes down (that got me into trouble the previous game I was an elim). If I can reasonably push a lynch on someone that's not a team-mate, I'll do so, but I try to assess them objectively when I'm doing reads on everyone. If a team-mate looks innocent, I'll read them as such, and if something looks off, I'll bring it up as well. I'm still working on properly balancing this though. I went too easy on my team-mates in a previous game, but I think I might have been a bit too hard on my team-mates in the thread this game. In particular I think my early suspicion of Araris was something I didn't need to put out there. So in short, be an elim in the doc, but try to mostly be a villager in the thread.
  10. My go-to tactic for dealing with suspicion (irrespective of whether I'm actually guilty) is to just refute those arguments I can easily prove are wrong, and then continue playing the game as if the accusation isn't there. Generally, it has worked better for me to show that I'm working to solve the game than to try and deflect all accusations to get people to accept me as innocent. In general, if I see someone who goes all-in on refuting accusations and stops trying to find those that are guilty the moment someone accuses them, I become more suspicious of them because apparently they have a reason to value their survival above trying to figure out the game.
  11. It's really nice to see your thoughts presented like this, steel fifth. The only thing I'd comment on is that I wouldn't let the generic protection protect the user. In the late game with a depleted elim team (say, 1vs3), it makes it basically impossible to get the elim kill off. It'd still be difficult under the current rules, but with the current protection rules you can't be certain if it'll actually protect a villager, which brings it more on par with the other actions.
  12. I initially suspected you'd gone for the second life. it was only afterward that I thought of the far smarter play, which I brought up when Sart asked you to confirm the action you'd taken. My initial plan was to shave of the extra life, so you could either be lynched or killed whenever we'd need to. I'm also kinda disappointed you guys didn't lynch phattemer. A couple of the things he did, and especially the way he jumped on the 'clean Synod' idea after I'd presented that should have been major red flags, especially after I died and flipped elim after he'd been pretty protective of me.
  13. After these games as an elim I'm really not looking forward to my next game as a village. Either you all are going to find out that your gut is really good at reading me, or you're going to find out that it isn't, after I've been lynched . I think I got killed just in time, as I'd just finished stocking up on zinc, which would have made things rather difficult in the closing stages of the game. I'd like to say Good game to everyone. My team made a valiant effort, but some really well-aimed kills managed to get through at inopportune times. Lastly, my thanks to the GM's for running this one, and the beautiful write-ups.
  14. Welp, I just died in the other game. Sign me up as Tezed, Private Feruchemist
  15. Just a suggestion, but wasn't there an elim-owned rug-emporium somewhere. I mean, if the synod can burn down something anyway... I don't feel like I've got anything to add right now, mostly because I'm still/again pretty tired. Don't expect any analysis until either late tomorrow or Saturday.
  16. I think this question should remain unanswered. If he used an extra life, he's now vulnerable, if he's using his built-up reserves at a rate of one per cycle, he'll be very difficult to kill for the rest of the game. I'd prefer it if those wishing him harm would have to take a second shot to find out.
  17. "I'm voting Zihel for the synod. I believe my outside perspective will be invaluable to sorting out the red-on-blue mess you've got here." Lynch vote tally Cadcom(1): Sart Sart(2): Steel, Bort Steel(2): Phattemer, Randuir The people still alive (not counting myself) are: Xinoehp512 Steeldancer Bort Cadmium Compounder _Stick_ Jondesu Phatterner Ark1002 Sart Of these, I've got some reason to believe that Phattemer is probably innocent, given his push on Kidpen last cycle. As a consequence, I know that he's speaking the truth about role-blocking Sart, which speaks somewhat in Sart's favor. I'm not convinced that the attack on Cadcom was an elim move*, but I'm willing to wait until the end of this cycle to see whether anyone comes forward to claim that deed before I push that one further. Of the 7 remaining players, Ark, Bort, stick and Xinoeph have been pretty much Neutral, with very few posts, or posts that I couldn't find much alignment indicative in. @I'm pretty, @_Stick_ and @xinoehp512 haven't posted anything yet this cycle. I wouldn't be against seeing how any of these 4 flip, but the generic kill is a better tool for that than a lynch, imho. That leaves Jondesu, Steeldancer and Cadcom. I've actually gotten a fairly village read on Cadcom so far. I don't think his role proves anything one way or another, but his overal activity and posts suggest that he's actively trying to solve the game. Between Jondesu and steeldancer, I'm going to settle on Steeldancer for now. I quickly checked some of Jondesu's posts from previous games, and it seems to be true that he's less analytical now than I remember him being in the first couple of games I played with him. That doesn't clear him, but it moves his posts to firm NAI territory. *Cadcom was fairly obviously a pewter ferring, and him starting to vote D3 was a clear indicator he had just gained enough to get a spare life, so I expect it'd have been fairly clear to the elim team that an attack on him would have been wasted, while I can see an individual villager missing those signs.
  18. Wait, if count olaf is still spiked, then any attempt to get him at the head of the synod is obviously a spiked plot. That means that Cadcom and phattemer must be elim spies! Cadcom poisoned his own drink! He's not a victim, he's a perpetrator! Wake up sheeple! (cadcom, obviously, and a more serious post to follow in a bit)
  19. This game seems to be right up my alley, but I'm too busy irl to do two games at once. @wiritos, you wanted to know when the next sign-ups for a game went up, right?
  20. I'd agree, if my call for the killer of araris to come forward hadn't gone unheard as well. I also think its dangerous to hardclear someone based on an assumption that there are 2 elims left. I think its likely its only 2, but I can't rule out there actually being 3. edit: Yeah, it does.
  21. (warning, tired Randuir is tired, so expect this post to be a lot more rambling and less coherent than my usual ones) First, I've got a theory about why Cadcom didn't die that is in fact very logical. However, I'd like to hear his explanation first, as if I'm wrong I'd rather not feed him a logical cover story. Now, on to an analysis of Kidpen. Unlike Araris' death, kidpen's lynch was reasonably well telegraphed, so I think we should be more wary of how we interpret his posts, especially those in his last cycle. In C1, Kidpen's only notable outgoing interactions where with people now dead, so there's not too much to be gained there. Likewise, in C2 the main interactions was a late vote on snip. In fact, apart from a counter to an accusation by me during C2, her only notable interactions with people are in C3, which is the cycle where I'd expect her to start obfuscating information in case she got lynched. In C3, his main stated suspicions where on Steeldancer and Sart, with also a small comment of suspicion on something I said (though the very argument he used was something I'd brought up in my opening post of the game as well). I don't think either Sart or Steeldancer can be cleared based on this interaction because at that point in the game I'd be expecting Kidpen to start laying false trails. So, all in all my conclusions on this one are rather sparse. Assuming Kidpen, or someone on kidpen's team, saw the kidpen lynch coming and suggested kidpen start working on laying false trails, I reckon one of Steel and Sart is probably evil. Kidpen adjusting his analysis would certainly account for the discrepancy between them claiming it was pretty much ready to post at the end of N2, and the analysis only turning up halfway through D3. If I assume that the elims didn't expect the Kidpen lynch to happen until the end of the cycle, then I'd say Sart is probably cleared, while Kidpen's comments on steel are NAI. I'm currently leaning towards the 'saw it coming' assumption though. I've seen several people say that they considered steeldancer cleared based on interactions with Kidpen, but I'm really not seeing it. Can someone give me some examples of these interactions?
  22. Just a short announcement, I'll probably be posting and analyzing a little less this week, as other things are keeping me rather busy. I'm not sure how much it'll affect my posting yet, but we'll see. I will try to get a full analysis of Kidpen's posts done next cycle, but I can't really promise anything right now.
  23. @wiritos, Herowannabe should have sign ups up in the next week or so (I think), but that's going to be a very non-standard game, even by our standards. I reckon signups for the next LG will be up in the next 2-3 weeks.
  24. @Sart, to reiterate the reasons why I've been recommending making sure we've got a big wagon at the end of the day for this particular game: The vote manipulation available is pretty explosive. A 3-charge zinc can erase a 3-vote lead. Add to that that some people get their vote negated because they're storing some attribute, and you really can only be sure of a lynch if its in the lead by a big margin. People storing important attributes like tin and copper need a place to hide. If there's only a couple of 3-4 vote wagons, its going to be very obvious who is storing something interesting in a cycle or two. Regarding discussion, when I moved my vote, I'd been the only one to post in a 16 hour period, so I don't think I was killing any discussion by moving to lock the vote against Kidpen. If anything, the resulting moves gave us a bit more to analyse.
  25. It's quiet in here... Vote tallyPhattemer(1): Sart, steeldancer, WfY Randuir(1): Cadcom Kidpen(4): Phattemer, Rath, Stick, Phattemer (again), Randuir Cadcom(1): Jondesu Steel(0): Phattemer WfY(1): Ark/pretty Stick(1): Sart Jondesu(0): randuir Sart(1): Kidpen Anyway, I'm moving my vote to Kidpen, in accordance with my own recommendation regarding solidifying votes, as well as for the reasons I outlined earlier explaining why I was suspicious of him. I'd hoped to see some more discussion, but I'm going to sign off for the rest of the cycle now, so I'd better place my vote somewhere it might do some good.
