  1. That's not the only way for the village to win.
  2. An Elim read after one post? Well, I suppose that's nothing new. But please, give me some credit. If I were an Elim, my priority would be surviving. One does not survive by trying to get Survival to reveal cycle one. I wouldn't be nearly so obvious. I do still think that Survival would be a good intermediary, but perhaps you're right about the Elims getting the shards. There's no reason that they wouldn't be able to work with the village? Win-cons are not always mutually exclusive.
  3. Actually I would say that Survival should reveal themselves. Survival's wincon once they've been overcome by the shard is probably going to be pretty Neutral; having a nice neutral party would probably be a good thing for everyone involved. At least, that's what I remember people saying from previous games. Why would you say it goes against Survival's potential win-con? Do you know what that is? I would assume that it's pretty much just "Survive" and that shouldn't be negatively effected by revealing. Especially since they're pretty much the only person with the vessel protection so far. Maybe not yet, though. Maybe after they know what their win-con is, if they don't yet. Because until they've been taken over by it, then they're still a free agent, I guess. So much I don't know gah. A reminder; Odium isn't necessarily against the village, right? I don't see that in the rules. It's an effective tool for any faction, at least while it hasn't been taken over by it's Shardic Win-con. Even then, Odium can probably still work with the village, if previous games are any indicator. This is a good point about the Elims knowing who not to convert. I agree with this one.
  4. @Macen, @A Joe in the Bush, just pinging you because you had expressed interest in signing up but haven't officially done so yet. Didn't want you to miss the start of the game if you ended up wanting to play.
  5. This won't do anything. If you're bored, I can heartily recommend reading over LG29. It's fun I swear.
  6. Same. I may have re-read all of LG29 in preparation for this game. I now have a pretty good idea of what I want to do during the game, for each possible start scenario, plus RP and meta stuff. Deciding your play style before you start adds something to the game, I think. Silverlight is fun until all the shards are gone. Then maybe Scadrial or something. Extra lives FTW.
  7. Thank you. That's hilarious.
  8. Oh yes. I remember this now. Ah, I see. That actually cleans everything up quite nicely. I probably should have gotten that bit about the "Vessel" Protection.
  9. They're both kinda Elims, from a technical standpoint. They're the ones with docs, and a conversion, and a typical Elim goal. Aww. Extra lives are fun tho. Which game was this? The last shard game?
  10. Wait - so you can only have one extra life, tops? Including the "Vessel" extra life? What's the maximum amount of lives you could have at once?
  11. You get a cookie. We get a lot of Tolkien related names around here, actually. And while I'm here, this name is a product of searching for good one-word usernames across multiple platforms. Magestar is rarely taken, it sounds cool, and it harks back to some old games I'm rather fond of. So yeah. Magestar. It's a step up from my other, older usernames in just about every respect, too...
  12. Because just no. Also no. And really? No. And if I'm wrong I'll eat my hat. And then cry. So you better not be Alv.
  13. Don't worry about it. As much as I might feign mock rage in-game or in a spec doc, I mostly take this sort of thing in stride. Also, honestly, I sorta feel like my death in this game was a product of my own failures, more than anything else. Something I'll have to work on. I'll vote for Araris as well. Thanks for the great game, guys.
  14. Somewhere on a vast world, a world filled with color and light, a being named Moro was running. He had been running for several days, stopping only briefly in the towns he passed, never for too long. There had been a person reported missing in the first town he had stopped in, not long after he stopped there, as well as the second, though the other towns had only seen some livestock disappear; a horse, a dog, a cow. Moro was still running. If any had seen his face, they would have seen the face of a man on a mission, a man racing against time. Moro had already been gone too long, if any had asked him; that house that he had become trapped in had cost him more time than he had been willing to part with. After many days of travel, many towns which mysteriously lost portions of their animal populations, and many, many miles, Moro was nearing his destination. He had entered a forest, filled with brilliant flowers and foliage. If any had been watching, they might have seen him look around, cautiously, before disappearing into a deeper section of the forest. They may have seen him enter a cave, travel down, down, to a pool deep beneath the forests surface. And if any had been there to watch, they might have seen him leap into the pool. And they would have seen him disappear. Some days later, on another planet, far from the first, where many beings gathered to learn and discuss the nature of the universe, there were many beings around to see when Moro reappeared, materializing out of another, very different pool. Some eyed him warily, some ignored him, and most looked him over carefully, before looking away. But none greeted him. There was a sense of danger, of barely contained tension, thinly veiled unrest, lying thick upon the air. One could almost taste it. Moro stood there for a moment, before hastily departing, striding quickly through the crowd. Bam. Moro's on Silverlight. *hits staples button* A couple questions... Can a Vessel of a shard use the investiture abilities of that shard? As in, while you are the Vessel of a shard, do you have access to an infinite number of charges of investiture from that shard? Can you burn those investiture charges while you're a Vessel? Can you burn charges of investiture from another shard while you're a Vessel? Just to clarify, a shard that is not in containment cannot have investiture stolen from it, right? Sorry if some of these have already been asked and/or are stupid questions. I did try to make sure they hadn't been asked yet, and that I read the rules thoroughly before asking them.
  15. I've just had that prepared for a while, lol. I've known which character I wanted to use for the next shard game for quite a bit. In reality, I'm not much of an RPer, but I occasionally try to keep up.
  16. Ooo. I can never pass up a Shard game. I’ve been saving some RP just for this. Somewhere, in a far away town, at the end of a road, there lay the remains of a once great mansion, a once magnificent house. It had crumbled some time ago, and it’s ruins marred the landscape, a dark spot on the otherwise lovely hill it sat upon. There were timbers askew, old stones and twisted iron strewn across it’s now unkempt lawn, and moss now grew upon the rotting wood and broken stone. But there was a stirring among the timbers. Something was shifting in the rubble. Crumbling stones and old wood tumbled down and broke apart, as some thing broke it’s way through the wreckage. A pale, nearly translucent hand, flecked with bits of dust, particles of grime, remnants of the wreckage it had clawed itself from, broke through the rotting wood. It clawed at the air, reaching about, till it found a hold. The rubble shifted, and slowly the creature pulled itself out. The creature was bald, it’s whole body made of the same odd, nearly clear substance. It was humanoid, although only in the crudest sense of the word; It’s body was constantly shifting, twisting slightly, as though the creature was not quite stable, or was, in some way, having trouble holding itself together. It’s back was grossly bent, almost like it’s spine had been snapped, and it’s face was like melted wax, lacking the normal distinction of human features. The thing crawled down off the ruins of the house on the hill, making its way in the direction of a town, not too far from the house… … several hours later, a man, in one of the houses in that town, thought he heard his door opening. Soon, he heard what seemed like footsteps, along with an odd scraping, crawling sound. He frowned, wondering who could be coming to see him at this hour. It was after dark now, and the man had been getting ready for a peaceful nights sleep, after a long day. Instead, upon turning around, he was greeted by a huge, translucent creature, it’s melted-wax face split across the middle, huge, knife-like teeth seemingly materializing in it’s mouth. Moments later, a scream echoed out from the house. Some time after that, the man who owned it died. Soon, a tall, dark-skinned man, his body covered in swirling maroon tattoos, walked out of the house, adjusting his clothes, with a satisfied smile on his face. Moro is joining the game. Rp on how he got to Silverlight to come. I feel like that’s probably important, and I made this RP before I knew we were starting on Silverlight.
  17. Rae wins at life. Seriously though I'm more impressed with that acting job then I've been with any such stuff, like, ever. Yeah I apologize about that. >.> I wanted to keep Ivory alive for completely unjustified reasons. To be fair, I did a pretty ok job after that, though. And finally... I've been waiting to post this since the aftermath went up. Let's hope it still all makes sense and works in context because I'm just too tired to care about editing it. "Kangaroo played his hand very well." "And yes, Sage has played wonderfully." Tears. This brought tears to my eyes. Tears of joy. For those of you who haven't guessed who I was by now, haven't read the docs, and for those of you who possibly don't even know who I am, because I haven't played in what might possibly be seen as a long while in SE-time, hello. I'm not saying anything else. Except that this game marks my return, however temporary it may be. Anyway, this was an excellent game. I enjoyed it thoroughly, although I do wish I had been able to be a little more active, especially in the early rounds. I always feel kinda bad about hiding among the inactive players. On other notes, this game was really interesting to play as an Elim. I'm usually a pretty bad Elim, unless I go inactive/quiet/useless, but I managed to keep a modicum of activity that I was happy with in this game, if not the ideal amount of activity. To the players like Ivory, Beagle, and Heron, I've gotta say, the post count on you guys was insane. I found myself posting just because I was jealous of the higher post counts. The Dead Doc for this game was simply gorgeous to read. Possibly the most fun I've had reading through a doc, like ever. In the very least, in a long time. To continue my dead doc commentary, in response to the question how would the Elims feel about being rep-killed, someone said; "I can think of at least one of them that would not mind that in the least. In fact, I think they would enjoy it." Out of curiosity, who were you talking about? I think if I were ever to play an Anonymous game again, I might go for complete anonymity. It would be fun, although I don't know that I could really play entirely differently. I'm sorta me, I think. My tells are fairly obvious if you know what to look for, although I share enough tells with enough people that if I tried to stay hidden I probably could. But part of the fun for me is getting people to try and guess who I am. Also, what's really amusing is the repeated dead doc "Do you think we'll break 100 pages?" "We're not gonna break 100 pages" "Welp, the Elims have surely won now." etc. You guys just kept saying it. And the end count being like 170 makes it even funnier. Finally, thanks to everyone who helped out with this game, and were a part of making it play out so well. A special thanks to Orlok, who kept on with the game despite poor health.
  18. Also, if you want to spectate a game that's currently running, LG42's got a somewhat active spectator doc that I'm sure one of the GM's would be happy to give you a link to. It's already started, though, so maybe QF30 is a better option? It's only got a couple spectators in it RN, as far as I know, but it's an easier game to follow if you want to just watch it happen, plus, it's just started a day or two ago. LG42 is a bit complicated. Anyway, basically if you want to join a spec doc, just PM the GM of the game and they should be able to get you a link. I can't think of a reason why you couldn't join both, tbh. Also, I heartily agree that you should read an old game. AG4 isn't a bad option, either. And welcome to SE! We'd be quite happy to see you die horribly join us in the future!
  19. Oy. Why you do this? No Lynch. I'd like it to be known that while I'm open to almost any lynch, I will continue to vote for No Lynch in order to save myself.
  20. As I told Drought, I was willing to go for a Kandra win, and would be totally happy to see the game go through without any deaths. Clearly, that doesn't seem like it's going to happen. Which, as unfortunate as it is, isn't exactly unexpected. I did tell a few other people that I was thinking about doing some flavor related things, but that's about as far as my "alternate win condition" plans have gone. It's mostly just dealing with the fact that since this is basically a free for all it's probably going to work out better for me if I accept that I'm probably going to die and just do some fun stuff in PMs.
