  1. We also know we have at least three people who got soothed/used a feruchemical ability/rioted. We could also possibly have an additional rioter, who's vote move was nullified by a soother. The shear number of roles in the game that could cause vote removal makes it difficult to say for certain what's going on. @Karnage, @Matrim's_Dice, @Shard of Reading, did any of you use abilities yourself that caused your votes to be removed? I'm not asking for role reveals or anything, I'm just curious if any of you would be willing to share. Seems like a fairly safe bit of information to share, although if you'd rather not that's also fine. If there had been any more vote manipulation, I'd say I was suspicious of the people who voted on Hats. Piling on a certain person with the knowledge another would get lynched seems like a good way to draw attention to someone. I'm not saying Hats is an Elim; in fact, I think it would be far more likely that Hats is a villager who the Elims are trying to draw attention to. It's possible there's a name for this sort of gambit, but I don't recall it off the top of my head. I'll try and get some more thoughts up later, but like I said last cycle I'll probably be pretty busy this cycle. Hopefully it doesn't get as full as last cycle.
  2. And with that I'm out. I'll probably post sometime tomorrow in the night cycle, but considering how long my shift is tomorrow, IDK how active I'll be for that. I'll definitely be active next day cycle, though.
  3. I uh. I have voted. I have a vote on Ash? I could change it to you, if you'd like. That'd shore up your lynch a bit. But Idk if you want that.
  4. A friendly reminder that a tie lynches a random player. Not, IIRC, a random player from the tie, but a random player. I'd rather the lynch have some sort of village will behind it.
  5. Jeez. Working evening shifts bites. You guys get so darn active. Dang that got dark quickly. There's way too much RP that's happened since I've been gone to try and keep up with it all, so IDK what actually happened after this. Reginald's sorry about the whole pie thing. Since it seems like people are likely to counter-lynch Coda, and Karnage is kind of a weird choice, I'm going to move my vote to Ashbringer. @DrakeMarshall, I believe you voiced some suspicions of them earlier? I don't typically like lynching newer players, but I'd rather lynch Ash, who I'm somewhat suspicious of, and who I feel would give a bit of information from their death, than end up having a counter-lynch on Karnage, which would accomplish next to nothing. I don't have a whole lot of time right now, since I've got a 7:45 shift tomorrow and need to actually sleep. However, I will give a brief explanation of my vote on Ash. 1: Their posts often seem like they're trying to get to the word count without drawing much attention to themselves. 2: They've posted a lot about the Kandra, which could in theory be an attempt to draw attention away from Elims. 3: Despite their supposed worry about the Kandra, every time someone's tried to argue against such a worry, Ash has been sure to couch their own arguments. Seems a little sus to me. Could just be a villager worrying about reading Elim, but I've found Elim's tend to worry about that more than villagers, especially among newer players. (Is Ash new? I thought they were. Idk. ) Like I said, it's not much, but it's more than I have even on Coda. I haven't had time to look over many posts, so I don't know if anything new has come up. I like the Ash lynch better than a Karnage or Coda lynch. That's all I've got.
  6. ...I'm unsure whether to brag about this accomplishment, because it was awesome, or downplay it to defend myself. Eh. Guess I'll do a bit of both. I mean, yes, I did do that. And it was totally awesome. But like you said, I had a whole ton of actions. I think it was agreed that it would have been more balanced if I had less in the aftermath of that game, although personally I like to think I could have won anyway. The real problems in that game were inactivity and a refusal to lynch me, if I recall correctly. My real accomplishment that game was filling the Elim doc. I think I had around 20 or so pages of just rambling. But the things I did as an overpowered Mistborn in a rather unbalanced MR don't really change what I said earlier. I'm also hugely against lynching people for their supposed skill at SE. It's unfair to people who've developed a reputation, and it's kind of dismissive to people who're just as good and tend to fly under the radar. Additionally, it's kind of messy as far as analysis goes, and the accuracy of such methods has, in my experience, been rather iffy. To be honest, though, I never thought I'd be the guy someone goes after for their "experience." That's a new one for me.
  7. Hey nice. That's some pretty decent analysis, although I'm not sure how I feel about trying to guess the GM's distribution methods. Seems kinda meta. The bigger problem with your analysis, however, is that even before I took about a year or so of hiatus, I was never a terribly good player. Anyone who played with me for any length of time knows that. Unfortunately, how long ago my first game was doesn't relate to my skill level. As far as getting reads from the whole Kandra thing... Don't you think that the Elims would rather us focus on the Kandra then on them? Just something to think about. Yeah... I see the whole "most posts" thing as a good way to try and give an edge to people who can't necessarily churn out lots of 200+ word analysis. And I get that. I kind of agree with you, in that changing it would definitely promote bigger discussion, but it's also possible it would make it even harder to get reads on people as they fill out their posts with unimportant filler. At least the one line posts are more readable. This didn't have to get out of hand like this either. It's only three coins; doing three RP bits already matches that. Just let Pyro take it lol. Their play style is such that they'd probably get most posts without an incentive.
  8. Hey Pyro and Experience, any chance you two have a post count for the two of you? You seem to be going for the most posts, so I'm just curious.
  9. Yeah that's what I've heard about Xino. Personally, I'd rather have more of a train for the lynch, with the number of vote manips that could be in the game.
  10. How wide the tie is doesn't matter, I think. On a tie a random person dies, IIRC.
  11. No idea. I'm sure he's got some reasons though. In all seriousness, though, I've been keeping an eye on a couple of people as the cycle progresses, and despite there not being a whole lot to go on, I've got a couple of ideas. I'd rather not discuss them in too much depth, as I've said previously, but I'll talk a little bit about Coda and Xino. I have a tendency to be suspicious of people who play very safe with their posts. I've talked previously about how discussing the roles in the game is a good way to seem like you're contributing without drawing a lot of suspicion to yourself. So Xino was really one of the people who I was most suspicious of. This has been nullified somewhat by my own realization that this appears to be Xino's play style in general. Coda, however, acted similarly, which is apparently different from their usual play style. This, in concert with a few things they've said, along with their activity right at the beginning of the cycle, gave me a weird vibe. I wouldn't say they're necessarily the person I'm most suspicious of at the moment, or even that they're the person who I think will give the most information from a successful lynch, but Coda is the person on Araris' list I'm most willing to lynch/discuss lynching.
  12. Reginald bustled into the kitchen, looking straight ahead. He'd often found that if you merely appeared to belong somewhere, people tended to assume that you did. His girth, of course, helped as well. A portly man looked as though he belonged in a kitchen. There were a number of attendants manning the kitchen, running about cooking food for the many people who were now held hostage within this compound. Reginald closed his eyes and inhaled deeply, ignoring the people milling about. They seemed to be ignoring him, for the most part. The kitchen was filled with the hearty, pleasant aroma of meats, pastries, and roasting vegetables. There would likely be some sort of savory scones and meat pies. Commoner food, but delicious none the less. Reginald looked forward to tasting it. "You there!" a woman said. "What're you doin' in here?" Reginald opened his eyes to see a woman who very nearly matched him in size rising from her seat in a corner of the kitchen. Ah, Reginald thought, the head cook. My opponent, for today. "Hello my good woman," Reginald said, bowing deeply. "I merely hoped to inspect the meal we're expected to eat. And might I say, if it tastes as good as it smells, we're in for quite the treat." "It very rusting well ought to smell good." the woman said, shaking her head. "But I can't let you stay in here. I've got orders, you know." Reginald nodded, his eyes finding a stack of meat pies stacked in the corner on a small tray. "Of course, of course! I understand completely. I'll be on my way." Reginald grabbed the woman's hand, bowing deeply and kissing it. He deftly turned her as he kissed her hand, so her back was to the meat pies. Then, while she was still stunned by his sudden display, he swept past her, swiping the tray of meat pies from the counter as he exited the room. And he was out. Reginald chuckled as he took a bite out of one of the meat pies. That hadn't been terribly difficult. People were so easy to distract. As he walked into the main area, Reginald noticed that a number of tables had been set out, piled with food. His enjoyment faded, slightly. Taking things was a good deal less fun when they were being given to you. "Excuse me, how do I get food?" Reginald turned to see a small girl struggling to reach the food tables. He grinned. "Why, my dear, you take it!" he said, striding over to her. "But in your case, I'll make an exception, and give you some, just this once." Before she could move, Reginald quickly stacked two or three of the meat pies on her head. @The Young Pyromancer I'm seeing a lot of Kandra discussion in the past few pages. I don't really have a problem with that in general, but I'd like to speak specifically to the people who are talking about what abilities the Kandra might have; this is really a very fruitless discussion. There's really no way to prove whether or not the Kandra has any of the abilities you're theorizing it might. Given that we can't really prove anything about their abilities, watching out for them or continuing to discuss them is largely irrelevant. It may become more relevant later in the game, but discussing the Kandra past the point of how their existence effects our search for the Elim isn't really useful. And with that, I'll join Drake in being done with the Kandra discussion. Ah. I see. In that case, Coda reads the most Elim to me from the people on your Elim reads list. I'd be most comfortable lynching him today, at least at the moment. That might change as time goes on, but I'm willing to place my vote on him for now. Coda. I'll definitely have more to discuss later in the cycle, but it's a bit early for me to have any really solid reads.
  13. Wow. I go to work and the thread doubles in length. And here I was hoping I'd be able to keep up with C1. 'Sup Araris. Cycle one Elim reads on me are nothing new, so I won't bother defending myself unless you've got serious reasons to be suspicious of me. As far as posting my reads, that's something I probably won't do unless I feel I really have the Elim team pinned down. Saying who I'm getting bad vibes from will inherently alter their behavior, and I prefer to see things play out beyond cycle one before I make any hard accusations. If I have suspicions of a specific person, I'll vote on them, and explain myself when I do. The role analysis and kandra discussion should be taken for what it is; people are probably just trying to get their word count up for the boxings. It's not terrible, as it does give us a chance to begin getting a base reading on people. I'm slightly more suspicious of the people analyzing the roles than the kandra discussion, since in my experience analyzing the roles is a good way to appear to contribute without doing anything suspicious. But that's not a hard and fast thing. That's all I've got for now. I'll probably make another post pretty soon, once I've caught up with the thread.
  14. And that will be the third vote on Mist, who thus far has only made one post this game.
  15. There's been a lot of discussion of Kandra body swapping mechanics over the years, but as far as I know, it's usually been dismissed fairly quickly as something that's rather impractical to do outside the context of an anon game. It's possible that it could be treated as a conversion role or something similar, with the prerequisite that the original Kandra dies before the new one is converted. But unless things have changed quite a bit since I last played, I'd doubt that there's a body swapping element. It's definitely an interesting thought, and I'd be impressed if it were in the game, but I've never seen anything like that. I'm pretty sure that they're just additional roles to fuel the role madness of this game. They could potentially be anywhere, but I'd be surprised if the Thief is an Elim, personally. It's definitely a role that could run away with the game in Elim hands, IMO. I'd also note that with the shear number of protection roles in this game, I'd not be surprised at all to see a lot of "attacked, but survived" messages. Lurcher, Thug, Brute, Bloodmaker. Possibly Kandra, although that's purely guesswork. I'd also imagine that most people who survive an attack will fairly quickly claim one of those abilities, so going after anyone who survives an attack might be a bit fruitless.
  16. Reginald chewed contemplatively on his pipe, puffing it gently while eyeing the dead man's body. He shook his head. The man had clearly been an idiot. It would be good not to have too many hotheads in this room; the more agitated people were, the more likely things were to go horribly awry. Reginald extinguished his pipe, sighing. This would not be the first time he'd been trapped in a room with people he probably didn't like and who'd probably kill him if they got the chance. Really, most noble balls were much the same. Reginald eyed the crowd he was in. Yes, there were a good many nobles in this crowd. A good many common citizens as well. The Metallic Arts were no longer constrained to the nobility, as they had been before the Catacendre. The variety of people wasn't terribly surprising. The trick would be finding the traitors. And more importantly, how would he stay alive long enough to do so? In a room filled with frightened metalborn, things were liable to get out of hand rather quickly. All the more reason to find the traitors before anything happened. At any rate, Reginald thought as he made his way to the opposite side of the room, considering how long we'll be staying here, it's unlikely this is the only room in the compound. Their captors would need to house this entire room of people; that meant sleeping arrangements and food. If there was anything Reginald needed right now, it was good meal. Reginald rubbed his hands together. Time to explore. Ah, this is already looking up. Votes flying, suspicions gathering, and people are already theorizing about the different roles. SE at it's finest. Personally, while I do think the kandra role is interesting, I think that at most it's a small monkey wrench to the village. Really, it's a very difficult role to play, since you're basically in the same place as Luthadel against Cett and Straff Venture in the first Mistborn trilogy. The only real way to win is to play the other two factions off each other. While that's definitely one of the more entertaining roles you could have, I think that perhaps it's not the best thing to focus on as villagers. If we pursue the Elims, we'll probably end up finding the Kandra. Worst case scenario, we kill the Kandra thinking they're an Elim, or an Elim pretends to be Kandra and we kill them anyway. The really interesting role to me is the Thief role. The way I see it, the Thief has a fairly high chance of stealing a fairly large portion of a person's coin each time they steal. Since it's pretty obvious from watching the thread who will have the most coin, the Thief could fairly quickly accumulate quite a number of boxings. With the right strategy, I think the Thief could definitely become very powerful mid game, considering how strong some of the items are. I'm not going to poke anyone just yet. Might throw a couple votes around later in the cycle. Looking forward to seeing how this plays out!
  17. I've got some free time on my hands, and this game looks super fun. Role madness and items are two of my favorite things. Sign me up as Reginald Kettis.
  18. Lol. I do think that if I had survived/been returned we could have easily gotten quite close to the Stewards. Ah well. Perhaps another time.
  19. Lol. Grats on that then. I figured that your win-con was to have returned in five factions, so I guess I misread your claim via that bias. Also grats to the Stewards for saying my name the most times of any faction. And saying the most things of any faction, apparently. O.o You guys were so active lol.
  20. I signed up anonymously and didn't really reveal anything special... I admit I wasn't hiding, but I'm proud of you too. How'd you guess?
  21. You filthy liars, you. Of all the factions that could have won... Ah well. Gilgamesh will be back. Although it's sad that I couldn't achieve ultimate Shardic power in Seonid's last game, I'm sure that their will be many more who attempt to continue this legacy. Fantastic writeup, by the way. Great end to a great game. Also, oops. I would never have guessed that Maill was Axolotl. I was so sure that you were someone else... Aman as Salmon, I could have guessed. Been a while though. Sart, you made my day with that reveal in the Scadrial doc. Definitely one of my favorite players from that moment on. Alv! I knew I liked Mauve. Dang there are a lot of new players. I swear I don't recognize half the names on this list! One of the many nice things about anon games is the opportunity to interact with players from a clean slate perspective. Gives you a chance to get to know them better. Oops. Perhaps I may have been projecting my own feelings onto your actions. Beneath my charming demeanor I am secretly a very spiteful creature. I guess? Final words; sorry Maill for pushing your lynch so hard. I don't really know exactly why I was so intent on killing you... I think it's honestly because I just really wanted Odium back. I wasn't really so much worried about your affect on the game, or your danger to us, as I was on getting Odium. Which, in retrospect, likely made little to no sense. I should have guessed that you would pas it away... too bad we couldn't have worked together. Anyway good game everyone. I suppose I'll see you all at the next anon game that catches my interest.
  22. On the topic of Chromium stealing Destiny: I can't help but wonder if Destiny works in a similar way to how Ta'veren work in WoT. It kind of fits with what you guys were saying about some people having a higher "Destiny Quotient" (Lol) and would kind of fit with the sort of inspiration Brandon might have had for the ability. And being able to "Steal Destiny" might be like spiking Rand or Mat to gain their kind of powers, and gain the ability to sort of twist fate around you like they did. Just spitballing, but it could also mean that if you somehow steal enough people's destiny, you could artifically turn yourself into a kind of Ta'veren. Or would that just try to pull you in a bunch of different directions at once? Interesting to think about.
