Long Game (3)2: Pulling on Strings
Magestar replied to Orlok Tsubodai's topic in Sanderson Elimination
No, that's fine. But if you die, please be aware that I intend to harvest his bones from your dead body. David Agemtsar, Magister Agemtsar's grandson, who's dedicated his life to retrieving his grandfathers bones. This looks like fun. Loving the play on numbers here. -
Quick Fix Game 22: Ghosts in the Night
Magestar replied to Wyrmhero's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Probably shouldn't have referred to that as analysis. It really isn't. But at the same time, "List if things what happened" is a bit of mouthful. Ok. I don't know that all of the reasons I've seen to lynch Sart are good reasons. From my perspective, if Sart was an Elim, than he could safely reveal his night partner without being worried about being attacked, and hopefully encourage people to reveal, thus gaining more intel on who makes the best kill. Not sure I'm suspicious of El; although I confess I probably didn't pay as much attention to the night cycle as I should have. HH's reasons for voting on Sart are ok, but I'm not sure I'd lynch Sart for the reasons provided. As for lynching Bart... I feel like both him and Aman are being rather quiet. I've already given my reasons for not voting on Bart D1, and they largely still apply today. However, if this trend of quietness continues, I would be open to lynching them simply because I feel like they're dodging. If they survive to a certain point, I'll have some more reasons to lynch them; simply because I doubt they'd survive for a long time as villagers, but right now, I'm not feeling it. Sarts vote on Jondesu seems to be just because he disagrees with his argument. I have already said I can see both sides of revealing, so I'm not going to touch this one. However, I don't think that a disagreement in logic is enough to prompt a lynch. I have felt something slightly off in Jondesu's tone, as I have with Len, but that's mostly gut. I'll review the votes again at the end of the cycle, and place a vote then. I don't think I have enough of a read on anyone to solidly place a vote myself, so I'll see who I'm most in favor of lynching at the end of the cycle. As for role revealing... This is something I'd consider, but only as a replacement for revealing my partner. Since I'm not likely to reveal my partner, especially not yet, I'm seriously considering revealing my role, since I can be reasonably confident that no one would be able to target me. I think that's all I've got to say for now.- 246 replies

Quick Fix Game 22: Ghosts in the Night
Magestar replied to Wyrmhero's topic in Sanderson Elimination
As far as revealing my partner goes, I would typically think it's a bad idea, if only because I don't want to die. As long as no one knows who my night partner is, I can't be intentionally targeted. If you want to reveal, I guess that's fine, but from a self preservation perspective it doesn't make a lot of sense, unless you're trying to convince someone to protect you. I might do another huge analysis today, if I have time, but I think I'll at least wait until the first page is filled up. Not a lot of noteworthy things seem to have happened. I'm not sure it was wise for Sart to reveal his partner... But if his partner really is El, then it's not unlikely she's going to get targeted anyway. Same with people like Aman and Orlok. I'm not going to vote just yet, but I'm somewhat suspicious of Len. I'm not sure about voting on Bart or Sart? I'll have to see.- 246 replies

Quick Fix Game 22: Ghosts in the Night
Magestar replied to Wyrmhero's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Heh. Fair enough. Multiple personality disorder it is. Wow, my brain is even more messed up than I had at first believed! And, now to continue the whole cycle analysis thingie. I probably won't do this again. Sart: RP's, and displays excellent taste in music. Jondesu: Ask Bart if he just publicly claimed that Aman was his partner. Notes that this seems unwise. Drake: Asks the sensible question; Could we hear something from Aman? Notes that this doesn't seem really like an Elim thing to do, yet ends up voting on Bart anyway. Len: Notes that people shouldn't get into a bandwagon just yet. (I can't believe what my eyes are seeing. ) Says Bart doesn't really read as Elim. Drake: Notes that Bart had better give him a good reason to retract his vote. Says that he is doing what Bart encouraged: To vote. Lopen: Responds to a bunch of things, says he normally would support a D1 lynch, but not today. Says Len's post may have been pointless, but, hey, Villagers make pointless posts too! Votes on HH, says he'd like to here more from certain people, including me, and says he's against lynching Bart for now. Doesn't like lynching newbies. (I agree.) HH: Responds more to Lopen, talks more statistics. Asks Jondesu if vote on him is 'Real' Stick: Says she's not super suspicious of Bart. Tells Bart he should elaborate and explain more. Thinks a tied lynch would be good, since the Elim's can kill two villagers anyway. (Not technically. This game is messing with my head.) Notes that she is indeed relevant. (But is she?) Jondesu: Takes his vote off of HH, notes that he'd be worried about losing Aman, but that the vote on HH is not real, and ends up voting on Bart anyway. Magestar: Makes an extremely long post about all previous posts, which would be recursive to talk about. Notes that he's not super suspicious of Bart, isn't sure if he's lying or not. Says more to come. Drake: Thinks it's improbable for Bart to lie about Aman being his partner. (I disagree? I mean, who's going to come out and say Aman is their partner? It would just put a target on their backs. Better to draw away the Elim's fire, or something.) Asks about the two elim kills per cycle. Takes his vote off of Bart, notes that he'd like to hear what Aman has to say, but wishes Bart would be more forthright and just explain. Wonders why he would vote on Len. Throws a vote on Lopen, to get his attention and hear what he has to say. Magestar: Responds to Drake and explains the two elim kills per cycle thing, which is really just a two village deaths per cycle thing. Drake: Says, no, not really. There are technically only 11 players. (Whatever. This is just semantics at this point. Jondesu: Takes vote off Bart; He's convinced. Jondesu notes that he doesn't know who to vote on now. (Don't vote on anyone. It's better that way.) Now, you didn't really think I'd describe this post? That'd just be odd.- 246 replies

Quick Fix Game 22: Ghosts in the Night
Magestar replied to Wyrmhero's topic in Sanderson Elimination
One Elim Kill: Kills one linked player. That player and their partner die. 2 people die by the Elim kill. I love how mentioned the 'technically 11 players' thing, after having asked about how the Elim's kill two people.- 246 replies

Quick Fix Game 22: Ghosts in the Night
Magestar replied to Wyrmhero's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I'm back! Sorry for not being here yesterday; It was Wednesday. Do not expect Mage to be active on Wednesdays, and you shall not be disappointed. Mmk. Since it helps me to think through these things by typing... I'm going to pull some pages out of other people's books. I'm going to catalog all the posts this cycle. Here we go. Starting after Ecth and Wyrm's posts, because, well, because. Sart: RP + Poke vote. HH: RP. Len: Some numbers running and stuff. Asks for thoughts. Generally a good thing. Bart: Responds to RP. Drake: Responds to RP, talks about balance, talks about talking. Asks people to bring up important topics, encouraging activity. Makes a note about the 'Barely a Dozen Agents' thing. Lopen: Talks about the Numbers Running and Balance. (Note: I agree with the Role Distribution, to some extent. I'm not sure that there are just two sets of Elims, simply because that would mean two kills could take out the whole Elim team. While this would be nice, I'm not sure it's accurate? Actually, if I treat this game as a game with 11 players, that makes a lot of sense. Never mind.) Explains the 'Barely a Dozen Agents' thing, in a satisfactory manner. Discusses running a contribution crusade on C1; Talks it down. (I agree that it doesn't make a lot of sense to run a contribution crusade D1. Maybe, maybe C2. Possible later.) Makes a good point about player pairs not both going inactive. Wyrm with Clarifications. Stick: Comments on being a day player. Agrees with Lopen about player pairs not both going inactive. Doesn't really have anything to say. Arinian: Doesn't really have much to say... Except that Stick is suspicious. >.> Stick responds jokingly. Apparently tries to look suspicious. (Is this suspicious? We can't tell. ) More Clarifications. Jondesu: RP's, talks about RP, and using it to legitimately ask questions. Discusses tactics, especially discovering other people's partners, and hiding his own and how/why you shouldn't reveal your partner. Talks about looking through the roles and finding more specific things to talk about. HH: Discusses the writeup implying that there are more Elims than normal. (I don't particularly agree with this. I think it's a misinterpretation, and ignores what Lopen said.) Talks about not knowing a lot, and hoping for the best. Ask Jondesu to take his vote off, since he only just RP'ed because he was on mobile. (What? Why could you only RP because you were on mobile?) Arinian: (Oooo! Inter-partner communication. That's always nice to see.) Arinian's partner: Does something like what I'm doing with the lists. Apparently did it a while before Arinian posted, since it only made it to Lopen's post. (I don't really have a lot to say about this, other than that I agree with most of what was said. Except about Drake. I really don't see Drake having been super worried about Elim kills? Where'd you get that?) Drake responds. Sort of slides past accusations with humor. Tags me and Drought. Says he doesn't know what else to say. Bart: (Woah! This post is so odd.) Votes on Len. Says that Len is in the way of him and his partner. Says that Len's votes and posts seem obligatory and falsified. Finally, asks more people to vote. (Nothing inherently wrong with that. The vote on Len is odd, but it just seems like Bart might be the victim of poor phrasing. Idk. The whole scenario is odd.) Drought: Starts talking about the game; Makes some very good points about having a partner. Goes off on a tangent about it. Basically the whole post. (Nothing wrong with that, but it'd be nice to hear more from Drought.) Arinian: Makes good points about not lynching Len, why would you lynch Len in the first place, I mean, really, this is Len we're talking about. (LYNCH LEN) (No.) (LYNCH HIM) (Sorry bout that. My baser instincts are taking hold of me) Arin makes a comment about this being him, not his partner, and having something else to say... But forgetting what it was. Len: Admits to be forcing himself to post, but says it's natural. It's C1. He doesn't have a lot to go on, but is making himself post. (I kinda agree. Not a bad argument there...) (LYNCH LEN) (Stoppit) Asks Bart about his post. Comments on 'His partners business' sounding odd. (I agree. Still think it was just poor phrasing, though, or possible a mistranslation of what his partner was saying.) Votes on Bart. HH says that he's not sure he wants to pick a side, and that Bart's phrasing sounds suspicious, though. Bart pulls out the Trump Card: His partner is Aman. We must all bow down in fear and awe. ( ) Says Aman shall explain all in due time. (This might be a gambit, but if it is, I doubt it came directly from Bart. This doesn't seem his style. Maybe his partner suggested it? Idk. This whole thing is odd.) Says he wants the game to go faster. Ok. That was page one. I'll comment on Page Two later, when I have time. Personally, I don't think we should lynch Bart, not necessarily because I'm worried we'll kill Aman. (Brilliant move there, if Aman isn't your partner. ) But more because I don't think this is a good game to start C1 lynches. I think we should wait and see what the night players have to say, and think about this a little more. The Bart bandwagon does not have my approval, and seems like a poor lynch. More to come.- 246 replies

I actually didn't see Jondesu post. I believe I said in that very post that I had been ninja'd, and responded to Jondesu in an Edit. As for what was running through my head, I A; felt the need to back my opinions with actions, and voted on Phatt, who didn't seem like he could be bothered with defending himself, B; I didn't see a reason to leave my vote on Len, C; There was no good reason not to put a vote on Phatt. Aman, your definitions of short and terse never cease to amaze me. I don't think I'd ever like to see one of your 'Long' posts, for fear I would never get through it. As it is, I don't have time on me to dissect your post, but let it be known I read all the way through it.

Yeah. Phatt, you haven't done a lot to dissuade my suspicions of you, and the lynch on Len doesn't seem to be going anywhere. If you can't post because of RL things, well, I wish you had said that. As things are now; I don't see a reason to keep my vote on Len rather than you. @phattemer edit; Wow, two ninja's. I, for one, probably won't RP a lot this game. The games where I do RP, I enjoy it, but not enough to do it just 'cause. It takes too much time for it to be worth it for me.

-sigh- Phatt, starting off by saying you've got a lot to respond to, and subsequently making a post that barely responds to anything doesn't really help your case, from my perspective. Your vote for Len has no real backing, and while your explanation of your first post isn't bad, I would like to hear more from you than that. Also, @DroughtBringer, I see you lurking. Anything to say? edit; Or maybe he's gone. >.> Might have taken to long to post that.

Huh. Did those pings not work, or is it just me? Thankfully, I was just sitting here... Watching the thread... -sigh- Ok. Here we go. Ok. First off, how he dealt with the poke voting he did. It was neither very effective nor very helpful, and while I defended his ideas, his follow through was poor. He's actually been less aggressive than usual. His tone seems different than it usually does. And I have a general suspicion of Elenion to begin with, which probably doesn't help. Again, this isn't a huge suspicion, but more a discussion booster. Ninja'd by HH... I'm honestly not surprised that we don't have a lot to go on. This is C1. Usually, you don't figure out a lot C1. It's the lynch and what people've said that gets things going C2.

*shrug* I do have trouble with committing to suspicions; take a look at most of my other games. Although I will make not of one thing; I said my vote on Phatt wouldn't mean anything, I think. Not that I would move my vote if it meant something. I more meant I wouldn't hold on to the Len lynch if it didn't seem viable. Yes. Please. Bandwagon votes are rather annoying, and easy to hide behind. As for voting on another player to draw discussion... *cough*myvoteonLen*cough

That's fair. Which is why I would like to see what Phattemer has to say. I'm not super committed to the Elenion lynch, but I do like to back my suspicions. My vote on Phat would do almost nothing right now, while my vote on Elenion in the very least sparks discussion and adds to the game. If it goes nowhere; fine. I'm not unhappy to move my vote to Phat, if his lynch seems like it's the only one going anywhere, but right now, I don't think there's enough evidence to lynch him. As far as voting on an active player... I hadn't really thought of that. >.> I am, apparently, susceptible to the thinking I am trying to discourage. I would like @phattemer to speak up a little. Oh, and I forgot to say this earlier, but I am very happy that you pinged everyone earlier. I often want to do this, but I tend to be a little too lazy. Thanks.

Oops. Yes, I meant actives, not inactives. (While typing that, I actually switched up actives and inactives again. >.> What's my brain doing lately? ) Ok. So, I actually think you're making a bigger deal out of Phatt's fallible logic than necessary. It could be he just messed up phrasing somehow, as I have done in the past. My slip ups tend to make me more sympathetic to fallible logic, so I could be rather partial here to one side of the argument. However, I don't think I shall be voting on Phatt just yet. I'd like to see what he has to say as well. Because I do feel the need to place a vote down somewhere, I'm going to vote on Len. His tone has felt different than it has in past games, a few of the things he has said had thrown me off, and while I defended one of his ideas earlier, the follow through on it and the general way he's gone about it have not made me super trusting of him. This is D1, so this is mostly a gut read, but it's all I've got for now.

I can see that. I had interpreted it slightly differently, however, I can see where you're coming from, and a compromise such as you have suggested seems viable. Encouraging players to join conversations such as this may be even more effective than asking them questions; however, I don't think we should abstain from that. It is a good idea to ask people questions to get them to participate, especially if you want their opinion on it. Ok. That's not entirely different from what I was attempting to communicate. Both amount to; We have limited time, so we should attempt to gather information at a greater speed. I agree. But we still can't ignore the inactives. Doing so has been fatal in previous games. Edit; Ninja'd by Rand. I wouldn't be surprised if not all the roles are in the game. Considering the possible number of kills, it would make sense that there would be an equal number of protect roles.

Encouraging activity is never a bad thing. I'm not sure that a few people encouraging activity is a bad idea. About the kills; Are you saying that because kills tend to target actives, we need to grill them faster? That makes sense, to an extent, but by that same logic inactives can just hide under their inactivity, and survive. Which is why we need to hold inactives accountable as well. As for the 'it doesn't give us information from the targeted player', Rand and I already covered that. There's nothing wrong with encouraging activity, and there is also nothing wrong with your method. I'm fairly certain they don't need to be mutually exclusive.

Oh No. I've been poke voted. /sarcasm While I agree that a lynch purely based on purported inactivity isn't necessarily the best way to go, I don't think that a strict contribution crusade is a bad idea. People don't like seeing there names in red; However, I'd say to everyone who wants to place votes that encourage activity, well founded suspicions/attacks tend to bring people out more than a simple poke vote. This — This is a very bad idea. This doesn't encourage activity – it encourages blurbs. If people think they can get away with simply saying, 'I'm here guys. (Random Vote)', then odds are, that's all they'll do. Especially in LG's, it's important to watch people who are lurking. It's an easy thing for Elims to kill inactives, and just stay quiet themselves. With any luck, I'll have something more solid up by the end of the day.

Mid-Range Game 20: With Ruin Beside Us
Magestar replied to Jo and the Bush's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Sounds good to me, Boss. *cackles Curses. Foiled again. I got what I came for, though, even though it's still not edited in yet. That's not even the only thing... Yup. There were supposed to be others, voices in my head, speaking silent wonders, but they turned out to be dead. I definitely went a little crazy in my doc. Probably some things I wouldn't have minded deleting. Joe, in answer to why Tineyes died so quickly, I targeted a few of them. People were a little too free with info. Plus the seeker ability, which was basically useless the whole game, gave me one Tineye, I think. I was definitely was somewhat overpowered; Although I could probably have won the game with just the two kills and the thug life. The lurcher protect was nice, but I don't know that I was ever attacked? If I'm reading things right, all the Spectators ended up joining my Doc? Huh. Well, I got Aman, I think, although which one he was I was wrong about. I was right about Bard. I had no idea about Elbereth. And I'm sad that you all went quiet. And I'm surprised Burnt wasn't actually in there. Nice job El. Bard, I though you were Aman, while you were pretending to be El, I think, but I'm all confused by this. And I think I thought Aman was you. But I was still right! Definitely! Anyways. Great game all. I thoroughly enjoyed being massively overpowered. I always do. Alv.
