  1. Note that Taln is a darkeyes, and I'm pretty certain that he isn't related to Odium. Also, I agree with the others in this thread in that darkeyes refers to darker eye shades rather than a specific unnatural eye colour.
  2. For the temporal effects, would memory fall under those? As well as that, perception of time?
  3. Supposing that he did just create it then and there, wouldn't this mean that there are now three storms on Roshar?
  4. I imagine the first Nightwatcher stuff we're going to get is going to be Dalinar's flashbacks in the next book, with this novella dealing with something else in Lift's history, with the details of Lift's encounter with the Nightwatcher being dealt with in her flashbacks.
  5. This is very similar to something I've been wanting to do myself, so I'm very excited to see how it turns out. Do give us a link when you eventually get it up and running!
  6. I finished my reread of The Way of Kings about 4 weeks ago and I already want to read it again. Harmony above...

  7. Yeah, I've got the kindle editions of each. I do, at some point, want to have a dedicated Branderson shelf, so of course I need copies of these for that.
  8. Though this isn't as exciting as I'd find a Danny, Champion of the World film to be (boy, I love that one dearly (plus BFG references in it)), this is going to be wonderful. I sometimes put down Dahl, but looking back to my childhood, I really did enjoy his books (I happen to have a complete collection of audiobooks of all of his works lying around here somewhere, though that may be lost to time). Let's hope it goes well.
  9. May I join yous all? I have a certain, penchant, for accents. (Might go as far to say that I'm a treasurer thereof...)
  10. I was always under the impression that Eshonai was supposed to bond a spren and become a Willshaper, given that the Willshapers seemed to be quite adventurous and delighting in novelty, and Eshonai was described as "The Explorer" and had spent a lot of time on Roshar exploring and making maps and whatnot. I still think that this is a possibility given that Eshonai is to have a book in the first cycle and all other books in the cycle are associated with members of the Knights Radiant. I'm pretty sure that because of this, it's more likely that they would bond the spren, thus becoming a radiant. Not an incredibly strong argument, I admit, but it's my two cents on the matter.
  11. 76% Elsecaller 65% Lightweaver 39% Truthwatcher 33% Willshaper It's.... it's perfect... But yes, I think I fit into the Elsecallers very well (I do indeed have scholarly aspirations in the future).
  12. I posted about the novella on the subreddit. And then I realised it was April 1st. So I got very flushed and removed my post. And now it's not April 1st. And the novella is still there. I am very confused. To be fair, I would love a hardback copy of all of those together. That would be a pretty cool purchase.
  13. From about mid way through Shadows of Self I've been thinking that Steris needs a god damnation hug. The scenes between her and Wax are some of the most touching for me, you can tell she cares and you can tell she struggles to show it and by Harmony she's a wonderful person.
  14. I'm not certain that this would be the case. From what I can tell, the bubble is just the boundaries of the effect of bendalloy rather than being an actual physical object, in which case there would be no limit to how fast it could travel. (Unless of course you meant something else by this?)
  15. I'm imagining some nicrosil compounding going on here (of course involving spiking the windrunner to make them a nicrosil twinborn or vice versa). It would be interesting to see if this might happen in the later stages of the cosmere.
  16. I have a few floating around. One is that I'm pretty sure at some point between the beginning and end of Words of Radiance, Jasnah has worldhopped somewhere else. She was gone for a while, and if she was looking for information, it would have made sense to go to somewhere like Elantris and read up on what they knew about Cosmere history (if we're saying the Desolations are linked to the Oathpact and therefore to Honour, it's likely that they'll be of interest to off-Roshar scholars, even if it doesn't directly affect them).
  17. Did the Shardholders design the magic systems of their respective Shardworlds, or did they originate somewhere else? (Or do we not know this?)
  18. I read the Mistborn series a few years ago, when I was still in primary school, at the recommendation of my dad. I remember absolutely loving them, and also remember getting teased over the cover art (don't ask me why, kids are weird). From there, I went on to read Elantris on the Kindle and The Way of Kings. By this point, WoR still wasn't out, and neither was the second Mistborn trilogy. After all this, I didn't read any more Sanderson, and I specifically avoided Alloy of Law because I didn't think I would like the setting. Fast forward about 5 years to the beginning of 2016. I'm browsing /r/fantasy, and someone mentions that all of Brandon's books are related in some grand interconnected storyline called the Cosmere. I. Break. This was incredibly exciting to me; it was probably the coolest thing I'd heard of done in books in a while, and I hadn't read in a few months (the last thing I'd read was Crossroads of Twilight, which, in its disapointingness, put me off reading almost entirely - fun side story: I started reading the Wheel of Time because I found out that Brandon was finishing them (this is back when I'd just finished reading his books for the first time). I picked up Eye of the World, read it, couldn't get the next book, and so didn't continue with the series until 2015 when perchance I happened to pick up the book as I was bored, and found myself getting into the series again). Anyway, being incredibly excited, and not being able to remember much of the details of the books (and of course needing to know all the details to understand all of the Cosmere), I decided I'd have myself a reread, working my way through from Elantris, to Mistborn, to Way of Kings, before getting onto the books I hadn't read yet. I finished the reread about 3 weeks ago with Way of Kings, and took a short break (to read another, unrelated book) before reading Warbreaker and then Words of Radiance (I don't think I've ever been so excited about the ending of a book - it surpassed even Hero of Ages). Reading Brandon's books again has cemented him very much as my favourite author. I'm currently halfway through Alloy of Law and am still going strong - these are some brilliant books.
  19. Hmm. I do use this picture on a few fora, if that's what you're recognising?
  20. I'll have to decline, unfortunately, I've seen that it's wise to avoid certain cookies around here. Thank you for your kind offer regardless
  21. I take a similar name on the subreddit, which might be where you know me from
  22. Hi all. I recently (3 or so months ago?) found out that all the Brandon Sanderson books I loved were part of the Cosmere, leading to a massive reread of all Cosmere books (just starting the second Mistborn era books). Here to look at theories (not too bothered about background spoilers, just not character spoilers, if that makes sense) and have a laugh. Also lurking. Hope to see you all around.
  23. Would it be possible to use Forgery to gain powers from other magic systems, like making oneself temporarily become a mistborn?
