Can I sign up with: Kelen Taldar, a conniving but generally clumsy youngster of the fifth dahn. Not very good at social interaction, but good at planning.

I'm also tempted to, though I know not specifically asked for, suggest some characters for the boys to take example from (i.e. characters without a focus on fighting, manipulation etc. and instead people who care about appearance and dealing with problems etc.) but unfortunately, I can't think of any.

Raven (of the Teen Titans) is multiple levels of cool (she slides into second place as my favourite Teen Titan, because, come on, how can you not love Beast Boy to bits). Also, Hawkgirl (also from DC) who I was first introduced to because of the Justice League TV show. She is also ridiculously cool. Asked a friend, he says Songbird from Marvel comics.

Humanity in the Cosmere question
AliasSheep replied to ZeldaDad's topic in General Brandon Discussion
I think the most interesting worlds for this question are Threnody and First of the Sun. Being minor Shardworlds, the humans there couldn't have been directly created by shards (I assume), which means that people must of gotten there either by migrating (which I think would be more interesting) or by being created there by Adonalsium. Secret History Spoilers: -
Is there anything outside of the Cosmere, or is its border where the incosmere "universe" ends?

Hello all. Just got added to the list so I guess it would be pertinent to introduce myself. Hi, I'm Ethan, I write fantasy and sci-fi that can't decide if it's innovative or generic. I like messing round with systematic magic (guess what my biggest draw to Brandon's work is. Do it, I dare you) and subverting tropes. I've never written anything longer than a short story in my life, and I've only written a few of them ever. I have a few motivation issues. That being said, I have a few cool ideas, and would love to be able to share them with you all if the time ever arises. Until then, I look forward to reading what you've all written and hopefully giving useful opinions.

You Know You're a Sanderfan When...
AliasSheep replied to Shardbearer's topic in General Brandon Discussion
I gave The Final Empire to my friend about 2 months ago (maybe a bit more_ and they still haven't read it -
All Koloss were sexless (I think - to me it seemed that the characters assumed they were all male due to a lack of breasts). I presume Harmony just gave them the sex organs of their gender or sex before they were turned into a Koloss.

This actually brings to mind another question. The destruction of the clashing of the Everstorm and the Highstorm presumably caused more destruction than the Everstorm would have alone. Yet the Everstorm was right next to the ocean, and the Stormfather had to consciously bring the Highstorm to the Shattered Plains so that it would happen earlier. Wouldn't it make more sense to have the two storms collide over the ocean where they wouldn't cause nearly as much destruction? (Of course the easy answer to this is that the Highstorm was just about to hit New Natanan and the Stormfather brought it closer so as to avoid the destruction happening in a populated earlier, however there wasn't supposed to be another Highstorm for at least 2 weeks, so some weird stuff must have gone on there.)

Bands of Mourning Full Book Reactions [Bands Spoilers]
AliasSheep replied to Chaos's topic in Mistborn
Oops, I did write out the other IPA, I swear. Let me fix it. Thanks -
And here I am having to memorise them for exams. :/

I consider myself agnostic atheist, but I like to think I agree with some of the philosophies associated with Neo-Druidism (though certainly not all of them). I'm a fan of the reverence of nature idea, and I reject a lot of humanist ideas (too anthropocentric for me). That being said, I have a lot of interest in various religions and theology, it's all very intriguing to me. And don't worry, I got out of my edgy stage (*sighs*). That utilitarian is obviously not doing their job properly.

What do we call the people of the planets?

They could both be right, I think. As in, Selians are Selish (with Selian being the noun and Selish the adjective). -
Bands of Mourning Full Book Reactions [Bands Spoilers]
AliasSheep replied to Chaos's topic in Mistborn
That was damnation good. I called a few of the twists, but it was still damnation enjoyable. Not sure I completely understand the mechanics of the Bands (did they give Wax the power of allomancy and stuff permanently or just when he's holding them?). Also appreciated hearing the Southern language. Definitely got some North Germanic vibes, a nice contrast to the North Scadrian, which I'm assuming is some kind of langue d'oïl, given the naming of most places in The Final Empire. (as a short aside, I don't know whether to pronounce "Kelsier" as [kɛlsie] or [kɛɫsiɛ:] now that I've realised that the Northern Scadrian language is French-derived) -
Looking for Help Developing a Magic System
AliasSheep replied to Calmseer's topic in Creator's Corner
Do the two things have to clash, or is it possible for them to work in tandem? -
Shinovar gets shielded, but as far as I can tell, the rest of the storm just passes around it. I don't think it's too hard conceptually for the storm to gain strength again (maybe with a little help from the Stormfather) while passing around the other side of the world. On that note, has there been a WoB on the rough dimensions of the storm? Like, does it extend from pole to pole or just the width of the Rosharan Pangea (there needs to be a fancy name for this - Roshan, anyone?)?
-
What I've got here is: Hence me thinking that there was just one storm.
-
Ah, I was under the impression the leading theory was that there was just one storm circling the planet.
-
I think in this case the distinction between "capacity to prevent the end of the world" and "intelligence" is enough for the wording to be relevant in connection with the Nightwatcher's boon/.
