  1. I agree with Mailliw that, at least on the current cycle, who is on which planet doesn't seem to give a lot of information. However, I think that on the next cycle, we should reveal who was on our planet in the previous cycle. This is because we know what information could have passed between which people and affected the events of the night. Thoughts on this everyone? Given the events of QF15, yeah, that makes sense. Aman, I'm confused as to why you can't reveal your reasoning behind voting Mark, is it something in your planet PM? EDIT: If you hadn't guessed, I'm on Roshar. I don't mind revealing my planet, given I requested it.
  2. So I just spent the best part of an hour and a half going through Hael's posts, summarising them and writing up my thoughts. This is going to be a bit different from what I did for Elbe, as this time I annotated the posts with my thoughts inline, instead of writing up everything afterwards. Anyway, 42 posts of summary and thoughts, 4 whole pages, here for you to see (the BB code for this thing is going to be a monster, I am so sorry 17th Shard server that you had to deal with this): And with that, Haelbarde. Interested in seeing if I got this right.
  3. I'm not quite sure if it is more balanced, I haven't yet tried out much of the PvP stuff. The guild I was going to join accepted new players, and I wanted a chance to try WvW.
  4. See my post the other day Anyway, to continue my RP... The thing hadn't gone away in months. It was almost always there, and almost always doing something irritating. It seemed to be studying him for some reason, though he had no idea why. Conversation with the thing was difficult, it struggled to use the language properly and had its own peculiar mannerisms that infiltrated its talking fully. Annoying. Right now it was talking to itself under its breath, so he couldn't hear it, though it looked to be examining the make up and design of the bag one of his companions was wearing. The bag was made for long distance treks and journeys, which this would be (if not the longest anyone had ever done), especially once they hit the mountainous regions in Jah Keved. For now, however, they were still in Alethkar, moving slowly but surely towards the border. Kelen had done his research beforehand, and this was supposed to be one of the parts of the border that wasn't embroiled in constant fighting or warfare. One would think the two Vorin nations would get along better and have less skirmishes, though it seemed that the fighting wouldn't end any time soon. Once they crossed into Jah Keved, the trip would become a lot more dangerous. They would be foreigners, and foreigners never seemed to be treated nicely, no matter where one was. This was in addition to the Highstorm that Kelen had forecast to occur just after they crossed the border. They would have to find a small lait and hole up there while the storm passed. It would set them back a few hours, and Kelen didn't like that, but it couldn't be avoided. "Kelen?" The thing said, the pitch shifting wildly even throughout the single word. Kelen ignored the thing. "Kelen!" it repeated, the volume shifting upwards until it was close to shouting. Kelen continued to ignore it. "KELEN!" it yelled, coming up close to him. "What?!" Kelen replied, thoroughly irritated. "You have why so many.. dead things you with?" "What do you mean by that?" "Animal that there, it has lots of dead things it on." "Oh, the pack animal. That's food." "Food?" "We consume it. We need it to stay alive. Haven't you been paying attention?" "I paid attention, yes." "You would have worked that out by now." "Oh." The thing moved off again, silent now. It seemed... embarrassed? Kelen didn't really know how to put a name on it. He disregarded the thing and left it to its moping. He could deal with it later. For now, he had to worry about the border crossing, less than a whole day from now.
  5. I read xkcd, Existential Comics (I even have one of their t-shirts ) and Dinosaur Comics. Every so often I binger like 300 issues of xkcd, yet I'm still like 500 off reading every single one.
  6. Guild Wars 2. I'm 5 levels off hitting max with my first character, and then I can... I'm not quite sure what I can do once I hit max without having Heart of Thorns. I'm planning on getting it anyway; need to switch worlds so I can join a French speaking PvP guild - which is certainly a way of speaking more French, not sure if it's the best one though.
  7. Yeah, I suspected your reasoning was something like this. I'm on the fence between agreeing and disagreeing - I do think that it seemed likely to be something made up before hand, but 30 minutes is definitely enough time for that plan to form. There's a possibility that Joe was a Holder at the beginning of the game, though if he wasn't lying about Scythe scanning as guilty, then I think it's true that he is Rem's Holder. I do agree with you on this side - I don't think we should kill Joe either (look I'm all suspicious). *bow-curtseys*
  8. Kelen rubbed his forehead and looks over the list in front of him once more. On it was shown all the supplies they'd need for the journey to the Horneater Peaks. The journey itself wouldn't be particularly dangerous - apart from the crossing from Alethkar into Jah Keved, though Kelen hoped to avoid any dangerous border skirmishes - however it would need lots of equipment, from tents all the way to writing equipment. Kelen intended to log his journey (though not let anyone know about it of course, heresy claims were so annoying to deal with) up to the pool as fully as he could. He'd be the first Alethi, as far as he knew, to use the power that lay up there, so it would be a monumentous journey. On the back of the paper was a continuation of the list that cut off after a few marks down the page, making way for a list of all the provisions they'd need. A large amount of water, for sure, though they intended to stop and collect some from rivers periodically, replenishing their supplies that would, of course, run low very quickly. The list for food was incredibly long, though Kelen supposed that on an expedition such as this all that food would be necessary. The effort was worth it however, getting to the pool would be the greatest achievement of Kelen's life, and even then, would only be the beginning of his real trip. Getting to the base of the peaks would take a few days at least, and then another few days to scale the intended peak. Kelen found it ironic that they would take so long travelling a great distance across the land, and then spend just as long climbing upwards but a fraction of that distance. T'was the nature of vertical distances he supposed, that they should take so much longer to cross than normal lengths. It made sense in a way, fighting against gravity would certainly be a challenge. It was a shame he wasn't a Windrunner; being able to lash everything upwards would reduce the journey time ridiculously. Of course, if he was to be any Knight Radiant, the best for his purposes would be an Elsecaller. But for now, he'd have to make do with this lake, the lake from which gods emerged, according to a rumour he'd heard in the warcamps, back when he'd cared about Highprince politics. He had more important things on his mind now, certainly since the revelations he'd had in recent months. Revelations that had turned his world upside down. Or rather, expanded it. He looked up and brushed his hand through his smooth hair, its length reaching just to his shoulders. A little longer than normal Alethi stock, but few mentioned anything to him about it. Probably because of how little time he spent around them. The hair was mostly blond but with a streak of red. The blond was matched in brightness only by his eyes, a light grey. He was a fairly high ranking lighteyes, though he cared little for that anymore. His plans would still be carried out in his absence, yes, but he was now mostly indifferent to whether they succeeded or failed. This trip was more important than all of them put together. His eyes scanned the room, the grey orbs examining all the people around him, most working on loading supplies up. Everything had been bought as necessary; the paper he held now was merely a check that everything had been purchased and had arrived at the storehouse. It all had. Most of the people here wouldn't be attending, only a few of his closest companions would, those to whom the secrets of the stars had also been revealed. This was to be a very important trip indeed. Anyone care to join me on my expedition to Honor's (presumably) shardpool?
  9. Do you mind if I quote it for my sig, because I absolutely love it. I'm also planning on doing a lot of RP this game, so if anyone wants to start off RP on Roshar with me (I'm planning on a trip to the Rockeater peaks), you're welcome to join me. Seonid, a question, do we get to choose what planet we start on, or is it decided for us?
  10. The Belgariad was one of the first really big (really big for me at the time) epic fantasy series I read, so it will always hold a place in my heart, even if I ever do go back to reread it and find it to be absolutely awful.
  11. To be honest, my reasoning for switching to Elbereth seems a bit weak as an afterthought, which was that she was acting quite adamantly about keeping Joe alive, which could indicate that she was a Holder and Joe was Ryuk or vice versa. The problems with this idea are multifold, namely that first the chance of Joe being Ryuk is really quite low - his original idea posited him dying after the second cycle. This would have definitely lost him the game. Unless he anticipated the chaos that followed, which I doubt was possible - I have no idea why we didn't just lynch him as soon as we knew he was in contact with L - it seems unlikely that he would have been Ryuk, it would have risked losing so much. The reverse situation also doesn't make any sense either - why would Ryuk be trying to protect their Holder who is effectively useless to them. If anything, Ryuk would be one of the people voting for Joe and trying to get them lynched so that they wouldn't have to waste an eliminator kill. Of course, Elbe could be seriously double bluffing (she herself pointed this out) as it would be pretty good cover for being Ryuk, but that seems unlikely to me. [Now for the bit that, for some reason, completely disappeared from my post. I have no idea why. Yay rewriting?] The way Elbe acts when discussing the Ripple effect in posts 10 and 11 remind me of, well, how I act when trying to deny some kind of accusation, that is, by pretending to be very confused and asking a question about how the accusation really makes any sense. To quote Elbe: However, it really was a stupid reason, so this implicating Elbe as an eliminator seems really unlikely. I've just realised that I am really, really jumping from post to post, but oh well. Anyway. In post two, Elbe points out all the possible advantages to Joe's plan for a Holder, and then goes on to say that she thinks he's a Civ anyway, with "particularly with the speed that he put up that original plan." being some of the reasoning. To me personally, the speed at which the plan went up seems much more likely to be an eliminator move, an over eager eliminator, though this doesn't seem to hold up if Joe's been playing for as long as I think he's been playing. The again, half an hour is not at all too short a time for a determined eliminator to come up with a good plan for getting them the names of all the police - there's even a possibility Joe started as a Corrupt PO or an eliminator with a similar ability which would have made him immune to the scan. The point I was making, however, was that despite all the possible advantages to being a holder Elbe points out, she still says she thinks Joe is a civ, and I can't really see any reason for that other than Elbe wanting to protect Joe or his plan, perhaps to have it serve her own uses. This could mean either that she is Ryuk and discussed the plan with Joe, or that she is Rem and planned to claim Joe that cycle, and use his supposed innocence to her own ends. On the other hand, I could just be overlooking a gut read, but I think that's unlikely. A point I'd like to dispute is something Elbe raises in post 17 and again in post 19 and though not something that really implicates her, is something I'd like to comment on. Elbe claims that killing and converting are near enough the same thing, which I disagree with. Converting is much, much worse for us, as there is someone who can influence discussion, can make kills, and who we believe is innocent. It also gains the converter much more information (something Elbe herself raised). Just wanted to put my two cents on that. Anyway, does that count as an analysis, Elbe? I had about 10 pages of raw text + BB code there before I clipped my own post. I feel really sorry for this forum now. EDIT: This seems a lot shorter than it did when I was writing it.... EDIT2: I just realised I didn't include a conclusion. So far, it doesn't seem like Elbe is obviously an eliminator, though I'm not leaning towards trusting her any time soon.
  12. I'm writing up my thoughts right now the writing for which the summary was very useful. It made it easier to flick through and gather thoughts up from the summaries instead of digging through posts. I have the summary in my own notes as well for this purpose.
  13. I've actually started making notes now. It's a pity that they won't be the most effective, since I haven't had them since the beginning of the game, but oh well, at least I've learnt now. I'm going to go gather some posts and do some analyses, probably of Elbereth and Burnt. On a side note, Hael's strategy seems like, yes, it would confirm to us if Joe was just following votes, but it's also a fairly decent way (in my reckoning) of hiding Hael actually aiming to lynch a specific target, with Joe playing along for show. It failed, aye, but it seems kind of... suspicious. Especially given it seemed to me that Joe was doing that anyway, without needing to check on top. EDIT: Make that one analysis, Elbe has made a lot of posts, and I need to be going in like half an hour Whilst I'm here, I'm going to add a vote for Hael, mostly gut for now, but I haven't been lynching much lately, so I'd like to get discussion going on that EDIT2: Elbereth analysis: I'm going to have to go soon, so I'll posts my thoughts later, but for now, Haelbarde, Elbereth.
