    DS9? How about the Babylon 5 of the Cosmere? Seems like a far more fitting comparison, considering the First Ones, the Vorlon/Shadow war (shards), Technomages, etc. And an actual planned story arc from the beginning. But with all that said, someone how the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy reference fits even better. Probably thanks to Hoid and I just read Alacatraz book 3....     Granted! You can never turn it off, so you have to keep drinking tea forever!! Talk about a bladder buster!! I wish I had a girlfriend, and that she likes Brandon's writing!

    From the JordanCon thread, how far apart is not set in stone yet. 5 and 7 years were also mentioned. So the there could be some overlap.

    Brandon should put a pronunciation guide in the back of each book. Or as an appendix in the upcoming Arcanum Unbound.

    Black hole? I doubt it. Though perhaps it could be released as energy escaping the black hole, though I would expect the experience to be fatal to the vessel. Could be a good way to splinter a shard... Or on the crazy front, maybe the Great Beyond is a black hole. Back to this theory, Rayse is less likely to attack an uninvested (or slightly invested) shard, which fits the theory.

    We already know the intent of the shard changes the vessel. That's why Rayse doesn't want to pick up any other shards.

    And she let's Shallan see it because she wants someone in on her secret? That does seem beleievable -- I always thought that was a big reason why Jasnah was willing to forgive Shallan later on. Jasnah may put on a brave face, but it had to be lonely at times. (The other reason being how short on time they were).

    Brandon is giving an incomplete answer here, so I do not see how we can take it as absolute proof. Take any subject we knew little about years ago and see how his answers have evolved as he has revealed more. He's also probably not aware of this in-depth theory, so it's hard to say how exact he is being in his wording -- i.e. maybe we're further along than he realizes.

    Do you have a quote for that? I knew there was a worldhopper Kandra, but had not heard it was female before. Do we know if it's still alive? A certain one from SoS comes to mind....

    She was not being subtle in the alley, but was with the assassin, presumably to avoid tipping him off. Recall hat she got the location of the poison and the antidote wrong. I think the original idea was to let the assassin poison himself to death. I also doubt she wanted to risk the assassin learning of her true abilities and escaping with that knowledge.

    I'll be buying it regardless, but still, a couple new short stories will be much nicer than just one. Though the additional stuff is nice too. By the way, does anyone know if the short stories included with the MAG will be included? I have them already,but it wold be nice in ebook format and to have them all in one place.

    Well, I wouldn't mind two new short stories for Arcanum Unbound. It will take the sting off of buying the same stories over again.

    Will the Writing Excuses story set in the Cosmere be canon?

    Well, I have only read the first three Alacatraz books. So, with that in mind, and the 17th Shard being about works of fiction . Your bane is you are now an Evil Librarian, and have lost all interest in the Cosmere. And you have horn rimmed glasses. I wish the re-release of the fourth Alcatraz book and the final, fifth Alactraz book were already out.

    Unless there is a WoB on that, I don't recall anytthing in that scene that precludes Lopen becoming a KR.

    Great stuff like always!!! You should do some art tutorials! Edit: What software do you use? Photoshop? Painter? Illustrator? Or some of the Open Source ones such as Gimp and Krita?

    That's why I discounted it at first, but that leaves us with much less to work with.
