  1. ...If Obi Wan were a psychopath, a con artist and a murderer with a god complex, maybe... Nope. Still can’t see it! (I’m guessing it’s the mentor thing. But they are really different characters.) These days I think Kelsier is a cross between Vito and Sonny Corlione. More Sonny originally, but shifting toward being more Vito. He’s not cold enough to be Michael.
  2. Kelsier nodded. “From his first wife or second? I know all his children survived.” The whole family had actually. Grand-père had told him when Kelsier met with him after the Caracendre, the Survivor’s newfound knowledge of the Cosmere putting a rather different light on the old man’s stories of ‘shadows and Spren.’ “A very small person who lives in the ashmounds in the north of the Western Dominance,” Kelsier corrected. “They were larger before the Lord Ruler covered the land in ash. Back then they lived in hills.” He smiled softly, eyes distant. “I suppose they do again now. Grand-père’s stories took place in our world, before the ash. He made the world into a place filled with magic, where everything and everyone had a story.” Age, it seemed, had made him rather more fond of his childhood than he had once been. But then, there weren’t that many people he could discuss the World of Ash with. It’s strange, he thought. All those years spent trying to restore a world of blue skies and green plants, and I find myself missing the way things were. Not that he wanted to ever go back, but... he did miss it.
  3. Eryn shook her head. “Proving who he is.” Kelsier inclined his head slightly. “That, and I’m curious. Krisof and I used to be playmates. I remember we once stole this giant pie from the kitchen and split it. We got caught, of course, but Grand-père decided that eating ourselves sick was punishment enough. “Well, that and he wouldn’t tell us what happened to the halfling after he got captured by the Koloss tribe that night. We had to wait until the next time we had a play date. Marsh was completely insufferable about it.”
  4. Kelsier and Marsh are also described as hawk faced. Moash has similar features, too.
  5. “Toliken,” Kelsier said thoughtfully. “I knew your... ancestor, I suppose. Grand-père Slowswift, we called him. He told me stories as a child. One of the few nobles I didn’t completely despise. Which one are you descended from: Mical, or Krisof? Jon became an Obligator and never married and Priselle didn’t either.”
  6. “She calls me that,” Kelsier said softly, setting up his speed bubble again, this time small enough to contain the three of them. “As do my Southern people. You would call me something else.” He tugged off his right glove, extending a scarred hand. “Kelsier. I don’t suppose you’d care to share yours?”
  7. Fortunately I don’t have school today. TPBM is fasting today.
  8. Eryn walked into the Temple and sat down beside the Sovereign. “Man here,” she told him. “Followed us. Is Hunter of sort. Asks about Meens.” Kelsier nodded, glancing over at the one stranger in the church. A Pathian. And he was wearing an earring which would make things so much easier. The Survivor smirked, focusing his gaze on the seeker. Then, leaving his bronze on, he burned steel. Then iron. Pewter. Tin. Zinc. Brass. Electrum. Nicrosil. Chromium. He burnt Bendalloy, the bubble covering most of the church. Cadmium, the two bubbles perfectly overlapping. Finally, he burnt gold, an alternate version of himself appearing. Then he burnt copper, making the pulses vanish to the Seeker’s bronze sense, before extinguishing all his metals aside from bronze. Looking directly at the Seeker, Kelsier motioned to him, indicating the place beside himself, opposite of Eryn.
  9. Excoriate.
  10. Yup, it is a thing. You can write non-dairy if your product contains less than a certain amount of dairy. Jewish kosher laws say it still is dairy and will also mark items made on dairy equipment as dairy. People with severe dairy allergies have figured out that the Kosher companies are more accurate about dairy content than the labels, so a decent number (at least in NYS) use the kosher symbols to check for potential dairy content. Yes and Yes. I love parmigiano. TPBM is excited for Passover because it’s the only time all year that Coca-Cola uses their original sugar formula (as opposed to high fructose corn syrup).
  11. @Random Bystander @Lecky Twig Eryn kept her steps even, so the child could keep up. The temple was not far and they soon reached it. She pushed open the doors, scanning the room within. The Sovereign sat in one of the middle pews, gloved fingers lightly running over the pages of his book. His eyes were hidden behind dark glasses, a slender, wooden stave leaning on the seat beside him.
  12. “Good.” Eryn allowed Zola to tug her out the door. She headed down the street, following the same route as the day before, heading toward the church.
  13. Eryn shook her head. “Need wait for Drae.” She turned slightly, glowering at the man. “Wanted to join. Now come.” @Lecky Twig
  14. @Lecky Twig
  15. @Lecky Twig @Kings_way Eryn nodded, motioning to Drae as she took Zola’s hand and began to head out.
  16. @Lecky Twig Eryn motioned to Zola and Drae. “Come now. Need meet Sovereign. Sage, coming also?”
  17. Pretty sure Hoid is. But Kell is definitely up there. He’s a fun character because he writes himself, which is always nice for an author. But I actually do think Kalak is a traitor. I’ve thought there was a traitor herald for a while and it does fit. He’s terrified of being tortured again; how better to avoid it than siding with the torturer? His people tried to return the Desolations. He claims he can’t make decisions, but manages to lead and manipulate an entire team? He knows far too much about the dagger, including information he shouldn’t have, but doesn’t know who used it? Oh, and he’s trying to get Shallan to release a very dangerous Unmade with no guarantees. He’s also the first character we’re introduced to. And he’s convinced even then that Odium will get free. The SoH have been our heroes enemies from the beginning and their actions have always involved betrayal; it makes a lot of sense to me that their boss will follow the same trend. They started the plot in many ways; I think they’re going to end it.
  18. Recognizing that there are times he shouldn’t protect/respecting the decisions of those who choose not to be protected. Kaladin’s accepted that he can’t protect everyone, but ends that with “but I can still save THIS one.” So I think his next Oath will acknowledge that there are those he can protect - but shouldn’t, because doing so violates their right to CHOOSE.
  19. More seriously, I think Kalak is a traitor who is working with Odium. A lot of what the SoH have done makes quite a bit of sense from that perspective.
  20. Personally I think Thaidakar’s reaction is more along the lines of: Excellent! Great job Ghostbloods! Time for Operation TFE. (Stages Darkeyes Revolution and proceeds to completely overturn Rosharan society, somehow becoming deified along the way... again.)
  21. Nope. Probably because that brand isn’t kosher. TPBM checks for the hechsher (kosher symbol) on supposedly ‘non-dairy’ items to see if they are REALLY non-dairy.
  22. “Man try to burn down tavern. Sovereign stop him. I stay and watch Zola.” Eryn eyed the man curiously. “You are Hunter too, ja?”
  23. Eryn frowned, scanning the new comer. “Sovereign does not leave survivors,” she noted idly. “This man not of them.”
